I've been coming to Seawall ever since Cushman's wellness center closed. I thought it would be too far to go for my acupuncture and breast cancer massage treatments. But. So worth it. From the valet service, to the wonderful Amy and Noel, my health is definitely maintained...I celebrate 3 years from my double mastectomy, no reconstruction surgery, and I am still working on range of motion, lymphedema, and general wellness maintenance. I feel great and look forward to every visit...except when I get stuck on the bridge due to construction!!! LOL! read more

I just came to the ER in fear of a blood clot. My whole right leg was swollen. Initially it felt like it was going to be a typical ER visit. You know long waits rude nurses and doctors who just want to rush you out and not really being concerned with your visit. But that was not the experience I had. Everyone actually cared. I recently had surgery as well. The nurses brought a pillow for my leg which was in so much pain. They even helped with pain management. Answered all my questions and I ask a lot of questions. Not once did they get frustrated or refused to answer my questions. That made me feel safe. I would highly recommend visiting if you need an emergency room full of nurses who care. read more

Amazing experience from the time we arrived to this hospital to get knee replacement surgery. The staff has been amazing in every sense of the word. Very caring, attentive and sensitive to our needs. In particular, nurses Rob and Brett were truly Godsends. Never once did they act bothered or annoyed by a request or need. I have a few serious complaints following a scheduled surgery that led to creating a yelp just to voice. 1. Their new iPad system is awful- I had to sign documents that included my consent to photograph a newborn, when I wasn't there to give birth (?) The nurse practically took the iPad out of my hands and scrolled through/signed for me- I have no idea what "I"/she signed. They clearly do not care if you read or are consenting to the forms they are giving you, or if they're relevant; 2. I was given a drug post-recovery while still under the effects of anesthesia that I did *not* consent for the nurses to give me- I'm not allergic, but the side effects are awful. If they had gone over any kind of post-op plan with me I would have been very clear I didn't want to be given this medication; 3. Post-op nurses were pushy, and did not sit me up/let me wake up before trying to dress me- I just needed a minute extra to wake up after being given a drug I didn't want that had an added sedative effect; 4. I overheard my medical information being shared with the person who arrived as my ride home- I did not consent to SHARP sharing any information with this person (this is a HIPPA violation). My doctors were not part of SHARP, and were good. One of the pre-op nurses I've had before; she was great. But the post-op nurses were awful, and I will never come here for a scheduled surgery again. I'd recommend going anywhere else. read more

This review is about the increase in prices at Sewall Healthy Living Center: I recently was admitted to the ER at Sharp Coronado after 3 months of excruciating pain. I received a terminal cancer diagnosis and was sent home to die. This health problem prevents me from lying on my left side at night, so my right shoulder is extremely painful. When I finally decided I needed massage help, I went to my go-to place, Sewall Healthy Living only to find they have raised their prices AGAIN. 1/2 body massage (neck and shoulders only) now costs the same as a full body massage ($80). Is Sharp Coronado now catering to only the very rich Islanders who can afford these prices? I know from one reliable source that these increases may not be justified. Because I live in Coronado does not mean i have deep pockets like most of the residents on the island. I am a low-income senior and can no longer afford the Sewall Center. Sharp Coronado appears to be just another money-making hospital trying to make a buck off unfortunate people. read more

Once you enter the healthy living center you step into a high-end spa retreat. The staff are super friendly and highly skilled. Most are also trained as physical therapists so they understand body mechanics. I highly recommend it! read more

Because these doctors were too busy concerned about my insurance and ethnicity, I've had to nurse a sprained foot for over 3 weeks. I just had a second opinion at the VA and they gave me a foot brace, the correct medication, and at home recovery exercises. During my August 14,2024 stay at sharp coronado hospital, the nurse Savanna, suggested to me that I place my 1,000 dollars cash money in the safe, I took her advice and at my discharge I asked for my money, and the RN Ryan told me that the money was missing, after numerous phone calls to hospital personnel all representatives tell me that I didn't have a thousand dollars and that there was no way that I could get my money back. Victoria who's name was given to me in charge of the situation will not meet with me in person and says they decided that I never turned in the money, when I had two witnesses who counted the money in front of me. My husband ended up in the ER with dual pulmonary embolus and DVT. He'd had a shoulder replacement the week before. He was admitted and treated for 5 nights in the ICU. The care was phenomenal and personal. I hesitate to mention only a few employees because they were all excellent. Gia the orthopedic program manager *went out of her way* to coordinate post surgical care with my husband's surgeon at a different hospital. She checked on us daily and made sure that my husband's post op care instructions were being communicated and followed even though his surgery was performed elsewhere and his treatment plan differed from the PT on site. I am so grateful for the excellent, thorough, professional care she gave my husband. All of the ICU nurses were wonderful. Christy has such an exceptional bedside manner and calming presence. She is smart and caught issues quickly! We couldn't have asked for a better nurse. Brooke and Jasmine were also very attentive, kind and helpful. The pulmonologist on staff, Dr. Sadiqe, spent time explaining what was happening and assured us that my husband was progressing through the treatment. We looked forward to the times he was the doctor on duty because he made a very scary experience less frightening by explaining things in a compassionate, understandable way. Our time in the ICU at Sharp Coronado made a life threatening situation less stressful and gave us a great Sharp experience. read more

Four stars only because here was my experience! Sooo I showed up with a dog bite after going to urgent care , I received a tetanus shot along with antibiotics. I got a allergic reaction to the amoxicillin so I went to the er. Closest is Coronado. The doctor prescribed me Benadryl and so there I go taking it. A week and a half go by I stop taking it and I start feeling really sick. Losing weight, not eating, trying to stay hydrated. Couldn't sleep , right side pain. I go back to the er and tell them that I haven't been progressing well that I feel something is wrong. The dr ends up telling me I could possibly go through a withdrawal from the Benadryl which won't make sense given the fact I was taking the right amount. Anywho couple days past and I feel intense pain on the right side. I go in the morning , give them paperwork and tell them what every other doctor has said . The nurse then quickly goes and puts me in a bed. Another nurse then puts a IV. Giving me fluids and antibiotics to prevent infection. Then the doctor comes and grabs the ultrasound machine. Checks my pain side and boom gallbladder stones! She said it wasn't leaking but it looked inflamed. Sooo she then orders a ct scan along with a mri to make sure nothing else is wrong. They diagnosed the issue pretty quickly and told me I would be having surgery because it can affect my liver in the long run. I was scared and upset that it took long but at the end of the day she helped me get diagnosed! I forgot her name but I could never forget a face. The surgeon then comes to meet me while I'm in the er waiting to get admitted. He explains what happens to the body while the gallbladder is getting worse and how the liver gets upset. I was a little nervous but confident because how confident the nurses and doctors were! They scheduled me early morning surgery and that was it. The anesthesiologist was recommended by many nurses. I met him , but soon after was put asleep haha. I woke up and met the doctor and surgeon same day after surgery asking how I was and if I was feeling pain. They made sure I was okay for the day after and I was released soon after. The nurses I had with me were amazing. It turned out to be good at the end of the day. You might need to just find the right doctor and right time. So try not to go at night id suggest morning. I'm currently recovering and I'm eating and drinking well. They gave me the number to my surgeon in case anything else is wrong and I can always ask! Definitely recommend this hospital. read more

Well, here I am in the best hospital I have ever been to. The staff from the ER to the 4th floor and back to second couldn't be better. A couple people that stood out more (now that's a big accomplishment, considering everyone is magnificent) I have Estela, she is such a sweet person, always wanting the help (her job of course) but I could tell she was a genuinely caring person. i used to work here. not a bad hospital. other than the fact that when i went to the er there, paid at the time. they forgot. i had sharp health plan at the time. so i was a sharp employee with sharp health plan. they charged me in the er 350$. had everything they needed. then i get a bill for over 3 thousand dollars. i changed positions with sharp so my insurance went from shc to shc. same company. they denied my claim because my insurance "changed". i spent hours and years correcting this for them. it all went through. it was paid. they sent the bill to collections anyways. so i would recommend any other hospital system in the county. over this one. they were so rude to me so many times. shameful. i was told my credit report would not be affected. it was. they literally created a problem that was not there and now have affected my life. shame shame shame. i fought on the front lines for sharp 2020-2024. i was on the front page of the san diego tribune during the pandemic, singing sharps praises for how they handled the situation. wish i could take that back. shameful. read more

My elderly mother lives down the street from this hospital she usually goes to Kaiser. This is the worst hospital I've ever been to! She went to the ER and the nurses are extremely rude they told me they were going to get her as I waited in the lobby they said she is taking up too much space! Sharp Coronado Hospital hands down is the most friendliest and accommodating hospital I have ever been too. Everyone is extremely nice, helpful and willingly to help one get to their full recovery, comfortably as much as they can! The Mindful Cafe is clean, modern and reasonably priced plus the food is made to order. The parking lot is easily accessible and if not, there is complimentary valet. The valet employees are extremely friendly, caring and they remember you and who you're visiting. Overall, everyone here is very friendly & caring, you can tell everyone is blessed and satisfied with their jobs. Not to mention the beautiful succulent walls all around the hospital gives the hospital good calm vibes and oh the lovely decorated Christmas trees. read more

I brought my boyfriend in for food poisoning today. When I came back after parking, they asked me to wait outside in the waiting area while he got a room. I overheard the male nurse saying "this is the worst pain you've ever had? You're a 29 year old male and vomit and diarrhea are the worst pain you ever felt?" And laughed with the other nurses. I'm not sure if someone then informed him I was waiting for the same patient he was making fun of, but he stopped. It's such a shame when nurses are meant to help and be kind. My boyfriend was literally shaking, with a fever, and couldn't go more than 3 minutes without throwing up. How insensitive to minimize his pain because it isn't as "serious" as other patients. This nurse needs to choose a different career. read more

This is a covid-19 epidemic, people like me are dying... and a 72 year old person with heart failure covid-19 and now pneumonia deserve prompt, thorough and competent medical care to prevent DEATH!!! BUT NOT AT SHARP CORONADO ER, instead I got incompetence malpractice and the bum's rush to get out of the room. I came to their ER last night on the 15th day of my having covid-19 and they diagnosed me now with pneumonia. I'm a cardiac patient in heart failure with a defibrillator also presenting with chest pain and irregular rhythm. The doctor, Dr. Apel, briefly talked with me when I arrived and I never saw him again and later on he went home without ever speaking to me. The nurse came in and told me I had pneumonia and had to take antibiotics, and that I was discharged. They then made me go sit in the chair out in the cold with pneumonia and covid-19 for a half hour hour waiting for a Lyft ride, because they wanted to clean the room. Nevermind my health and safety. Because of my cardiac condition I've been to hospital several times and they always interrogate my defibrillator to see if I'm having life-threatening bad rhythms again, but Sharp Coronado ER did not. When I asked the incompetent and inept nurse Christina if they were going to interrogate my defibrillator she said "no, it's a lot of trouble, it's a hassle". Also, I was in the negative pressure isolation room that was freezing cold and it took her almost an hour and 3 reminders to bring me blankets. Somebody needs to be fired. Somebody's going to get sued. I'm reporting them to the state health authorities and Medicare. read more

I recently have been very ill. I went to the emergency department seeking care at sharp Coronado hospital as I have done many times in the past. Full disclosure: I am 15 years clean and sober and their previous interactions with me were during a time when I was still a drug user. Having said that, it was 3:00 a.m. when I chose to go that was the only time I could get a ride and because of my past I don't have my teeth and did not wear my dentures as I was so sick. I've also got arthritis in my neck, spine and wrists so am on a pain management with an actual doctor. I spent about an hour and a half total there, they took a UA, COVID, strep and flu tests. Nothing else was done. Twice I was asked about "street drugs", had I used any? The answer was no. Not once was there a question about the pain medicine that they surely saw in that UA. Likely it showed as "opiates" a more in depth test would show it being hydrocodone. But no mention. They sent me home with some hydrocodone and cough medication which I didn't need and didn't ask for. Now that I am feeling better and my mind is clear I can see and hear the condescending tone in the Drs voice and feel the judgement. Overall I was treated as if I was still using and was spoken to in such a condescending manner. I will never go there again which is a shame as it was always my hospital of choice. I would recommend that other people don't go there either. It was very hurtful. I work in the recovery field and the first step to helping is REMOVING THE STIGMA. Wow honestly I have no words for how clean & kind this hospital is. The last time I went to a hospital I was 15 with a fractured pelvis, and the hospital( tri city) was so ghetto & the whole experience just left me traumatized & afraid to ever go to the ER again. The moment I checked in they were so kind & attentive as I told them I was attacked by a stranger at night & suffered head injuries. Everyone was just so sweet & great at holding conversations. They were very empathetic with my situation & took down details of my assault. I was in & out in a timely manner & it was just great, because I was so reluctant in going to the ER in the first place. 10/10 I recommend ! read more

Excellent!! My father was here for hip surgery and stayed two nights. I was there off and on, met many of the staff on the second floor. ALL nice!! The waiting room during surgery is very lovely with free wifi, plenty of seating and even a peaceful fish tank to stare at when you're tired and zoning. The rooms are small but have everything you need. The food was good according to dad and arrived with a fresh flower every evening. On his first steps he received a certificate and a baked goodie!!! YAY DAD! When we went to pick him up the discharge was relatively painless, the nurse was strick but loving. Just the way they need to be with some of these stubborn independent patients. (dad) From start to finish there was always someone nearby to reassure or answer questions. When he was discharged a nurse helped load him and all his stuff into the car. From my father's experience he was well treated, and never left alone too long when requesting help. I am glad he had a good experience here. He will be back in six weeks for the other hip and I feel reassured as does my parents about bringing him back. read more

I have been to Coronado hospital a few times recently. Each time there are staff that go above and beyond. This time the valet parking guy was so especially kind I feel the need to recognize him here. The valet parking isn't really meant for the ER but I was feeling awful sick I drove up asking about the price as I had no money on me. Sam was so kind he jumped to my aid told me not to worry and swiftly took care of my vehicle so I could get right in to see the doctor how kind he was thank you Sam for a great customer experience you made my day better! read more
