We didn't spot dolphins on the way to the island, but crew ensured we saw them on the way back several times. We kinda stalked the dolphins (safely). Great bar service on the boat and the shelling was awesome. My in-laws were SO pleased! Not to mention we had dolphins that swam right up to the boat. I went on 2 charters with Captain Alex. The 1st was last month to Anclote Key Lighthouse. Unless…read moreyou own or have a generous friend who has a boat, this is the least expensive way to visit the lighthouse with enough time allotted for climbing the lighthouse. The lighthouse is only open for climbing on certain days of the year. These open days are subject to change due to weather and adverse conditions which is why I needed the 2nd charter to the lighthouse. I had a 2nd charter this past weekend. On both charters, Captain Alex was laid back, friendly, and hospitable. He has great info about the area and is open to answering questions. His boat could hold gear or kayaks in the front if need be. Captain Alex cannot beach or dock at Anclote Key as there is an annual fee for that. He will drop you off in knee deep water and wait for you while you explore the island. It is a small drop from the boat, so keep this in mind if you have any injuries to you lower body. The other boats I saw did not beach or dock at Anclote Key either. We had an hour to explore Anclote Key. We saw dolphins while going to and coming from the lighthouse. After leaving the lighthouse, we viewed the sponge docks which was an added treat. If you are wanting to visit Anclote Lighthouse during a time when the lighthouse is open, I would highly recommend using South Wind Charters!

Being from the northern part of Texas we do not get to go salt water fishing much and to travel to the Gulf of Mexico to see mucky water not worth the trip nor the fee. Trey took us on a 4 hour trip but we caught line 6 different species of fish. First hour we did some big, sport fishing and for the other part of our fishing trip we fished for keepers to have dinner with. He made this last minute trip into a really nice experience with him. I made my hubs and pup go kayaking with me on a very early Sat. Morning. I enticed my hubs with…read morepromises of Domino's Pizza as a treat after - you have to be strategic and it's a mixture of give and take after nearly a decade together. This location is inside The Hyatt - lots of parking available and you will not be ticketed or towed - just need to check with front desk about where to park. We were going to go do SUP, but the waves were too choppy - even got caught up in an afternoon shower. We went with a single kayak per person - reserved for a couple hours. The process was so easy - just showed up with our Groupon or if they're not running one - you can easily book a reservation online at one of their many locations & pay ahead. The service was good - we chose our kayaks and she dragged them to the water and launched us after we got in. There are mangroves nearby if you're looking for a quiet spot, but it's not a lot of shade at all - mostly open water. Thankfully, we had a lot of cloud covers or else it'd be incredibly hot outside.

A friend and I rented the 16 ft Alumicraft with Bimini From Weeki Wachee Boat Rentals. The…read moreproprietor met us when we arrived and explained that the tide was very low, and that he wasn't sending out any other rentals for the remainder of the day. He assured us that the boat we rented would "float in a bathtub". This was not the case. To say this craft has seen better days is is a gross understatement. The dash was cracked and broken. The floor covering was torn. It was not possible to actually steer the boat with any precision, we had to spin the wheel one way or another and the hope for the best. We ended up dragging the boat through the shallow waters and off of sandbars for much of the day. I believe the owner knew we were going to have a rough time, but didn't want to sacrifice the $300.00+ reservation fee he had collected. When we returned the rental, the owner espoused the benefits of a pontoon boat, explaining the boat we rented Is geared toward experienced boaters. We never indicated to this man in any way that we were experienced boaters. That being said, the river is amazing, I am sorry we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy it fully due to the owner's greed and lack of integrity.

They even called me back after I had more questions but I didn't even leave a message. On our way to our appt they called to see if we needed ride over? How nice- Unfortunately we were almost there so we didn't need the golf cart service. The jet skis were in super good condition. We had lots of fun and it was the service here that took it to the next level!!

He was super chill and professional and maintains the safety of all tourists while ensuring you have the best time out on the water.
