Don't waste your time or money at this attraction! The Shark Attack 5D theater is located across from Pleasure Pier. It was July and we thought it would be a good place seek refuge from the sweltering heat and humidity before the sunset. I did notice that the attraction only had 2 stars on Yelp, but was willing to take a risk. It looked similar to some sort of immersive ride like Indiana Jones. My 6yo picked the Mysterious Underworld over the Shark Attack. The ticket attendant was an inattentive young teen. I asked when the show was going to begin and he let out a loud sigh and said "I don't know, it might be now or maybe longer. Stand in that line." He pointed to the shaded Mysterious Underworld outdoor waiting area. We were waiting in the space while other attendees were rudely smoking cigarettes around us. 5 mins turned to 30 mins. My son started to show signs of overheating so I asked the attendant again and he sighed and said I don't know! So we went into the other line for the 5D shark attack which was moving faster. When we got inside they said we were in the wrong line. We walked inside to our ticketed Underworld attraction and told the operator that we were outside for over a 30 mins. She angrily kicked us out and told us to go back outside. We asked if we could be inside with the A/C and said our son was overheating and she insisted that we go back outside because it wasn't our turn. I was livid and was working on getting our money back especially since there were no apologies for the miscommunication from the staff. Suddenly, 10 mins later the operator let us in and we decided to just go on the ride since it would've been faster than me trying to ask the attendant for my money back. The graphics were pretty horrible, and we got some sort of mysterious liquid splashed on our face from the creepy skeleton on the screen. Ok so the only reason I'm giving it two stars is because my 6yo son said that he actually enjoyed the ride. Honestly, though they need to have better organization, directions and training of their staff. There also should be an upgraded waiting area so attendees don't pass out from the heat. read more

Please don't waste your money. We were let into the mine part and then told they didn't have enough 3D glasses so 3 of us didn't have any. The shark part was lame. The quality of the video was bad and it was just a bunch of oversized sharks eating each other. read more

The staff sucks, asked what the difference was between the 2 options and the response was "one is standing and one is seated" nothing else! Paid about $38 for 3 of us. 2 kids ages 7 and 10 they loved it and had a blast. I went along with their amazement and pretended it was awesome and honestly it was a very cute experience seeing them enjoy it. Is it mind blowing ? No lol the people who are mad saying it's "lame" and a "waste of money" need to lower their expectations lol this is a random ride on the Seawall you couldn't have seriously thought it was going to amaze you I knew before hand this wasn't going to be the highlight of our Galveston day trip we really just had some time to kill so we said ‍ why not ? There's a lot of low reviews on here, and I understand why. Do the Mysterious Underground Mine ride. It's $8, for an 8 minute ride. It's obviously a simulated ride, so don't expect anything crazy, but we all found it a lot of fun. The Shark Attack ride is not worth going for, and you'll probably be disappointed so save your money there. read more

I have to agree with the others 5D shark was a disappointment. Nemo is scarier. the characters in the 5 minute video are very cartoonish. Our 4 year old was very intimidated at first but laughing at the end. The Underworld ride was worth it!! Everyone enjoyed it! read more

Lol wow! What a waste of time and money. Not only is the quality of 3D projection bAd but the attitude of the employees that don't care to be there makes it even worst. I walk up to the box office and the kid was half way awake picking his nose and bored out of his mind could barely understand and speak English. The other shorter male who was taking tickets and also setting up the videos was not any better but here's a quote from his service while setting up the show "welcome I'm sorry I have ti read this and it's something they make me read" Now as far as the quality and bay for your buck well there isn't any. It sure as hell wasn't worth $7 per video but you get a deal for $12 for both. "Warning" The actual shark show is garbage! You are put into a small room and told not to touch the walls not to film or take pics and not to grab anything. The video lacks any thing worth the price. the 3D is bad and there's nothing worth the value. The picture quality is bad because the image is soo dimmed and dark it's hard to see the video because there's a giant exit sign that breams to the center of the screen ruining the magic. The CGI isn't that bad but the music and sound effects is terrible and it just needs to be updated with better voice over and music to make it better and this goes the same for the 2nd video which is somewhat better because it's an actual 3D ride but the boring music used to play while riding a simulated coaster ride made it boring. What was the point of telling me that purses and bags aren't allowed in the ride? There was nothing extreme that would cause anybody to have to put your bag in a holding area. Also the 2nd video needs work the show begins and the image shown shrinks which makes it look funny while sitting up front. The image was blurry and dimmed and was t worth the $12 spent. Very cute!!! My mom wanted to go for her 62nd Birthday and she had a blast! We had so much fun! The staff was nice and very knowledgeable! They probably do this 100s of time a day and you would think it was their first time. I would recommend both experiences. It's affordable and if you go to Chick-fil-A there is a discount. Don't compare it to anything at Disney or Universal because you'll be disappointed just take it for a fun experience. read more

If I could give it no stars I would. Took my grandchildren here as part of the pier visit to the historic pier in Galveston. We decided to go across the street and we're told that we could see both theater both movies for $10 at a discount since we bought the PURCHASED an all day pass. When we got across the street one of the theaters weren't working and they tried to charge us seven dollars for a single movie, and when I say asked to speak to a manager saying one should be fine being that it's no fault of ours that it wasn't working she insisted we had to pay seven since it was a single movie instead of a double. Well I checked up $45 for what they said was a five minute movie there were no seats moving there was a little vibration under your feet two or three times and the movie was not even 3-D they gave you the glasses but it made no difference if you wore them or not. Horrible customer service horrible way to do business I am basically a horrible experience. The only person that made it pleasant I don't recall his name but he was the operator he was very into it which made it a little bit less painful. DONT DO IT!!!!! read more

Pretty horrible experience! When we approached with my 3 year old I asked if this would be scary for his age and they assured me that would not happen. When we walked in we weren't even sure if we were in the correct place as nobody directed us where to go. Stood in for a few minutes and it was very scary for a little one. My husband Was told by the employee that he could not kneel down to wrap his arms around our son because the floor moved (barely at all). Then he completely freaked out so I picked him up. She came over to me and said I had to put him down so I told her to open the door and let me out. She didn't say anything but opened the door. We went outside where I explained to the cashier that I wanted a refund for 1 of the shows since we only stayed for 1/2 of the 1st show. We paid $52 for 4 people for 2 shows that lasted a total of 15 minutes for both. She said she couldn't without a supervisor who wasn't there but at pleasure pier across the street so at that point I was already upset and was getting extremely agitated. I told her she needed to call the manager over asap. Within 10 minutes the supervisor came and she was extremely helpful and gave us a full refund which I didn't ask for so that was beyond nice. This reason alone makes me feel bad to leave a 1 star review but besides that the whole experience was beyond terrible. Either the employees there are super under trained or just jerks. read more

Save your money and do something else. Tried it out because it was raining and we happened to be eating next door. The picture quality on the screen in front of you is like watching one of those big screen TV's from the 80's... it's really bad. Nobody we saw exiting before we went in came out with even a smile so we thought it might suck, and it kinda did. My 7yr old daughter had never been to anything like that so she thought it was kinda fun but even said she couldn't really see what's on the screen. This theater was very underwhelming and not scary at all. It was so hyped but unfortunately it was a waste of $7. The guy who was in the theater did have good enthusiasm and he tried. However, the quality of the movie and the effects were very low. Worst of all, our whole group bought tickets and we were in swim suits and towels. One of our group members was in a one piece and only AFTER we purchased tickets, did the person inside the theater tell us she could not go in without a swim suit(even though the man at the window saw she was wearing a swim suit and still sold her a ticket). The operations manager was very kind and tried offering her his jacket, but she was still not allowed to go and the man at the window was very rude and refused to refund her ticket, despite him selling her the ticket in the first place. This is a water ride and right next to the beach, so it seems very odd that she was not allowed to wear his swim suit, especially since there are NO RULES stated against wearing only a swimsuit on the property or on the website. Eventually, the man at the ticket window had to "call his manager to approve the refund" despite the operations manager saying we should definitely be refunded since she didn't go on the ride. The ticket sales man made the call and gave us our $7.80 refund very acted very disgruntled toward us. Would not recommend. read more

Worst cashier at the ticket booth! Waited for over 45 min just to buy a ticket. The "bearded guy" couldn't answer anyone's questions. Not only is he the slowest, he kept dropping my money on the ground. Then once he finally piled up my change, once he handed it back to me it was in a pile and almost blew away. They should also let people choose which ride/show they want to do first that way the lines don't build up. read more

Terrible line system. They obviously don't know what they are doing. I paid for 2 rides and because it was "over crowded" they had me go back outside at the end of the line. And my group was the only one force to go out. All of the other groups after me did not have to go outside. I waited 4 turns and they still had me waiting. And the 2 groups that went after me were able to go first. And I'm still waiting out here in the cold. They make sure the doors are closed so you don't see that crappy job they're doing. read more
