ShareSomeStyle.com is a start-up based in San Francisco. Their mission is to help you feel more confident and empowered by giving you access to professional stylists to help you take your style to the next level.
I started toying with the idea of trying their services it maybe 3 months ago, but did my first shopping experience in December 2013.
I've done a closet audit, makeup group shopping trip, a clothing shopping trip as well as a one hour virtual shopping session - all to help me get everything I needed to start my new job on the right foot.
It all started by registering on the site - super easy. Then I was asked to like a few pictures on their style board - doing so helps them to figure out what kind of style I have and which of their stylists (from all types of backgrounds) might be a good fit. Two different stylists got in touch with me and I ended up choosing Nicole because I felt like her style was more where I saw myself going in the long run. You should know that they have a bunch of stylists with different hourly rates - from $55 to $120 per hour, based on their experience. Most personal stylists or shoppers are double that price!
Anyway, we scheduled the closet audit quickly through the share some style site. She worked around my schedule, knowing that we needed to get a bunch of shopping done before I started my new job in two weeks.
CLOSET AUDIT
She came over to my house and we spent 2.5 hrs (everything is billed by the hour) going through my closet. Before we started, she took some time to get to know me - what stuff I like wearing, why, how I needed to get to work, etc.
We went through EVERYTHING. Jewelry, pants, shirts, dresses...I was exhausted by the time it was done. And so was my closet! I ended up giving away 5 bags of clothes to goodwill...and ended up with maybe 5 outfits for my first week of work. She took the time to take pictures of each outfit (so I wouldn't forget) and explained why certain colors or cuts looked good vs bad on my body. I was so thankful when she was done - I had all my outfits figured out for my first week of work, along with a list of things I needed to buy to figure out the next week during our shopping trip. I felt ready to take on the world!
MAKE UP SHOPPING
The next step was make-up group shopping trip. We met the following Saturday at the Sephora near Powell MUNI and we went to town. There were two of us ($50 each for 2 hrs) and Nicole listened as we explained what we needed help finding, what our skin was like, what kinds of stuff we use now, etc. She helped each of us pick out foundation, blush, brushes, eye shadow and we went through 4-5 different stores finding the best stuff for each one of us. I was so impressed with her knowledge and professionalism - she was tactful and knew exactly how to tell us that we might need to try something new, but also knew exactly where to take us. She made what could have been an incredibly overwhelming experience SO MUCH BETTER.
She took us to Brow Bar ($25) to get our eyebrows waxed and plucked. We ended up getting our makeup done at Bobbi Brown so we could learn how to do our own shadow, eye-liner etc. By the end of the day, I felt like I've never looked prettier.
SHOPPING TRIP
My friend left and then Nicole and I spent the rest of the afternoon finding everything from my list. We bought jeans, shirts, new boots, a new coat and I definitely spent a good amount of money. I appreciated that Nicole knew where all the sales were (I saved a bunch of money I otherwise wouldn't have) and was able to get all my essentials within the 2.5 hours.
ONLINE SHOPPING
A friend has a wedding coming up and I haven't had time to look for a bridesmaid's dress. My job in Sunnyvale makes it too hard to go shopping on weekdays and shopping is the last thing I want to do on the weekends. I got in touch with Nicole and paid for an hour of her time to source a bunch of dresses and shoes based on the bride's direction and my budget.
Nicole got back to me within 2 days with 5 different dresses (the green was a hard color to find) and 5 shoe options that all fit within my budget. I ended up ordering two of her suggested dresses and finally settled on one that I wouldn't have found without her help. The shoes are on their way and I can't wait to try them!
I'm really happy to have built this relationship with Nicole - I trust her judgement and feel like I've taken my style to a new level. Huge thanks to Nicole and Share Some Style for helping me get my closet, my confidence and my life in order! read more
