As of the time of writing, I have not received those materials. What I received after the appointment was approximately twenty photographs of myself holding groups of fabric swatches. I did not receive a written color profile, personalized notes, a digital palette that I could use for shopping, or the promised makeup and hair recommendations. For a service costing nearly $500, I expected considerably more explanation and practical guidance. I was also uncomfortable throughout the appointment. The interaction did not feel welcoming, and I frequently felt as though my questions or presence were an inconvenience. Parking near the location was also very difficult, which prospective clients may want to plan for. I did not feel confident about many of the colors selected for me. Several of the deep burgundies, muted plums, brownish pinks, and very dark shades looked heavy or unflattering to me. If you're thinking about seeing Kathryn for a color analysis, just do it and schedule time with her. I had previously gotten a color analysis twice online (two different consultants, same result). I didn't agree with the results, but it was pretty close to what was already in my closet, so I got rid of all my clothes not in " my season". I felt like my clothes overpowered me and I was completely washed out in everything. I decided to see Kathryn while I was visiting my parents in the Bay, and she did not disappoint. Most stylists do drapes, and they can only have so many, while she looks at hundreds of colors against your skin, eyes, and hair. She also doesn't look squarely at seasons and more at colors, since some people can have partial two or even three seasons. She's also really fun to spend time with, so it goes by pretty fast. I ended up being in the autumn-y family, which is very different from a bright winter I had gotten previously. I'm buying the fan of color swatches, so I can match it online when I'm shopping. I have bittersweet feelings about getting a whole new wardrobe. But I'm in the same color zone as J. Lo or Meghan Markle, so definitely a win! (Just need to get on their level of talent, lifestyle, and a handsome husband). Small amount of time and money to get yourself feeling put together. Working with Kathryn was amazing. I've completed the color analysis and the closet audit so far. For the color analysis, I think she was spot on, and it's far more nuanced than other color professionals. She typed me as a jewel tone summer. I got the color fan, and she's right; I always knew I looked good in jewel tones, especially burgundy, but black, white, and gray, while I can wear them, don't do a lot for me. The big surprise was not having my best metal be silver, even though I'm cool toned, but that I look best in rose gold! The closet audit was very helpful in identifying clothing that was worn out, out of style, not my style, color, or pattern. She definitely put together a few great outfits I wouldn't have thought of and pushed me in the right direction. Overall, I need to work on some better habits. It was a pleasure to work with Kathryn for my color consultation! Kathryn has an extensive art background and a deep understanding of color theory. This allowed for more flexibility and nuance when creating my color palette than using a system that has a rigid, predetermined set of colors. I have had a color consultation by a professional who is part of a large franchise and thought the system was severely lacking. I think flexibility and expertise in color are important for creating inspirational and usable color palettes for people of all shades. I wish I had found Kathryn sooner! Getting a color or wardrobe consultation is an investment (that lasts a lifetime!) and I had no idea what to expect. Kathryn set up a phone chat with me, where I was able to pick her brain and understand her practice. This helped me decide to book a consultation with her. I was provided with my own color fan for reference. Kathryn works with a few color labs to have her shade cards printed on fabric, so they are special ordered after our session. My fan arrived within a week or so. I love pulling out my color fan to admire it. And yes, I have been using it religiously to help me make better clothing choices. Kathryn's studio is beautifully designed, a clear reflection of her talent! It is a great space to spend 2-2.5 hours. After doing some research for awhile for color consultations, I decided to choose someone local and have an in person experience. I think Kat had great examples of some of her work, and I agreed with the examples of clients she had worked assessed. After speaking and working with her, I also liked that she doesn't fit everyone into a generic box. Everything is very customized. I knew I would be a bit more complex. Kat is so customized she found some gorgeous colors for me. Many of them fit into categories that other systems use, but many of them were just extra colors that just happened to look great on me and nah have fallen into some other categories.
