We knew Joaquin when he was on the LSU Dental Faculty, teaching "Prosthodontology" under Art Mendez, and like them both. Berron is much more personable. If considering a trip, some considerations are: 1) How easy is it for YOU to go back-&-forth? 2) How much work do you need? 3) Do you like & feel safe in Mexico? 4) Do you have a local. Family Dentist for minor follow-up services? Berron & his staff/facility are BETTER than any dental operation we've been to in the USA. He gives detailed plans with cost & options ahead of time. Their Achilles' heel was the slow dental prosthetics lab, which took a week to make permanent devices. Then, if there were any problem, it would take a week to fix it. Berron is dedicated to providing World class services; so I'd bet the lab issue has already been fixed since our last visit around 2018. If one lives where there are direct flights; the best may be to go home for a week, then go back to finish. In our several experiences there, we found that the dental costs, plus the costs of the vacations, still beat U S prices. Also, I cannot speak for any of the other practices in "Dentaris Riviera Maya", which seems a loosely associated group with separate office facilities. Dr. Berron is quite expert at doing his own extractions & grafting, so most services are one-stop. If these considerations fit you, do consider going. We stayed at the local LaQuinta Hotel, but there are many other options at the beach. Once you see the quality, expertise, & detailed care; you will be confident. The entire operation is World Class. They will advise on, or even handle, some ravel details and provide local pick-up & drop-off for dental visits (only). The visit preparations resemble a concierge service in many ways. The only negative we found in our several visits was the slow prosthetics lab. Dr. Berron was well aware of this and was working on improving it on our last visit. As Cancun's Intercontinental Airport has grown into a major "Hub", other "international medical services'' flourish there, it has become an important industry for Quintana Roo & all Mexico. Dr Joaquin Berron' and Staff-…read more I hired Dr Berron to remove an old "ALL in 4" and place a new one. This would require 3 trips to Cancun. Nov 2024- Trip # 1 would require the removal of the existing ALL in 4 and bone grafts Bone Grafts- I had extensive lower bone grafts done at this clinic. However Dr Joaquin Berron' was not capable of completing them and hired a specialist from outside his practice. The surgeon hired did an excellent job and when my dentist back home took a 3D xray upon my return- he praised his skill Jun 2025- Trip #2. Dr Berron placed 4 implants on the bottom and fitted me for a lower temporary prosthetic. The implants were imbedded into the lower bone at a slant! And the temporay lower was poorly made and a colossal fail. It pinched and didn't fit properly. The day or surgery- I was taken back to my hotel room in pain and he knew this. I was told to give it a chance and he would see me again the next day. Upon arrival the next day which was Thursday morning- it was not any better and I wanted him to remove it and improve it. But he refused- instead he attempted to "grind" it down- while it was screwed down on my lower jaw. Only then did he inform me that he planned to leave town and I would have to wait 5 days to see him again- which would be late the afternoon the following Monday. At that point- I changed my airline flight and flew back to the states the next day and told him I would find someone else.. Upon arrival locally - I made an appt to see my regular dentist. When he looked at the recent xrays he was shocked and refused to comment- other then to say "I will keep my opinion to myself" Dr B and myself exchanged multiple emails - and text messages and I have copies of everything I have quoted on this email. I waited 3-4 months to heal and then In Oct I hired another dentist to make the permanent lower and his clinic did a fabulous job. In closing- I will add this. Dr B deserves a 1 star for the inferior job that he did- and for abandoning me and leaving Cancun when he knew perfectly well- it didn't fit and I was in pain because the quality of the prosthetic was so poorly made. But I didn't, I left a 2 star because his staff is exceptional! I regret going to his clinic and I would never ever hire him again

You put your trust in a clinic with your natural teeth, believing that if something goes wrong, they will stand behind their work. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I traveled to Cancun Dental Specialist to restore my four upper front teeth. My treatment included two crowns and two veneers, and I trusted the recommendations made by their clinical team. Within days of the procedure, I noticed that one of the veneers already had a small defect. It didn't feel or look like the others, and I reported my concern to the clinic shortly afterward. By that time, however, I was no longer in the country, making an immediate return impossible. Because I notified the clinic as soon as I became aware of the problem, I would reasonably expect that communication to have been documented in my clinical records as part of my treatment history. Over time, that same veneer eventually suffered a partial loss of material in the exact area where the original defect had appeared. The most disappointing part has not been the restoration itself, but the way my case has been handled. I have provided clinical photographs, X-rays, my current dentist's treatment estimate, and a detailed explanation of the timeline of events. Despite this, the clinic has declined to submit my case for clinical review unless I first provide a written dental report documenting the diagnosis from when the problem first appeared. The problem is that the defect first appeared several years ago. Requiring a report documenting what was observed at that time is, in practical terms, asking me to produce documentation retrospectively--something that simply cannot be done today. Another disappointment is that the main reason I sought treatment was to improve the appearance of two root canal-treated teeth that had become discolored. Despite the treatment, that discoloration is still visible today. After my treatment, I learned that many dentists recommend considering internal bleaching before placing veneers or crowns on root canal-treated teeth to help achieve a more natural and uniform result. Had that option been discussed with me beforehand, I would have gladly accepted the additional cost, because correcting that discoloration was the entire reason I decided to undergo treatment. After seeking a second professional opinion, I was informed that, given the current condition of my teeth, the recommended solution would likely involve crowns rather than veneers. That means correcting this situation today could require a significantly more extensive and considerably more expensive treatment than the one I originally underwent. Medical tourism requires an enormous amount of trust because once healthy tooth structure is removed, there is no way to reverse it. Patients rely on the clinic not only to perform quality work, but also to respond fairly when concerns arise. I understand that warranties have limits. However, my concern has NEVER been about asking for a warranty years later. My concern is that the issue began almost immediately after treatment. I reported it to the clinic as soon as I noticed it, but I wasn't in a position to travel back to Cancun so the restoration could be evaluated and the problem corrected. In my opinion, any fair clinical assessment should take that history into account rather than rely solely on documentation that can no longer be obtained years later. Despite the evidence I have provided, my case has still not been reviewed by the clinical team. If you are considering traveling here for dental work, ask yourself one simple question: If something goes wrong after you return home, will this clinic genuinely review your case based on the available evidence--or will the passage of time become more important than the evidence itself? It was a hot mess and I just happened to pass by and something said, "Go inside." They examined my tooth and basically told me the truth: there was nothing wrong with the tooth. The clinic arranged for their driver, Christian to pick me up from my hotel in the Cancun Hotel Zone on a Saturday afternoon. Christian was very friendly and his car was new and spotless. The clinic is conveniently located about 15 minutes from the Hotel Zone. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly by the receptionist, Liz. She asked me to apply hand sanitizer and invited me to relax in the waiting lounge area. Evette, the doctor's assistant then brought me into a treatment room where she carefully applied numbing anesthesia cream to all five areas. After about 45 minutes, my skin was fully numb and ready for the procedure. Evette then escorted me to meet Dr. Isabella. She was extremely professional and friendly. She thoroughly explained the CO2 procedure and suggested adding exosomes at an additional cost to help speed up recovery and reduce pain and swelling. This was told to me by Dr Gonzalez himself.* Needless to say, the treatment did not go well and led me down a rabbit hole of research I should have done prior to receiving this treatment. For anyone considering this clinic (or any of Dr. Gonzalez's products) I leave this review for you so that you don't make the same mistake I did. If you Google Dr Gonzalez you will find he spends a lot of time promoting his clinic, doing podcasts, radio shows, YouTube interviews, etc. He networks with "wellness influencers" (aka quacks) who have large followings on social media. One of these is Dr Daniel Pompa, who is frequently featured on Rehealth's IG account. He's currently serving 16 years of probation for stealing $1.4 million from a trust fund. Dr Gonzalez has also been associated with John Kosolcharoen of Liveyon who partnered with Rehealth's pediatric sister clinic World Stem Cells Clinic. He was previously involved in a Ponzi scheme and was also arraigned on federal charges for health care fraud. His business partner, Alan Gavick (a podiatrist) had his license put on probation due to medical malpractice. Their company Liveyon put about a dozen people in the hospital due to contaminated products. These are the people that Dr. Gonzalez does business with. When I spoke to Dr Gonzalez regarding my poor response to his product he came across as caring and sympathetic even asking me to send him bloodwork. I was surprised and did exactly as he asked. His only response was a list of referrals to his "pricey" (in his words) colleagues. There was no acknowledgement of the bloodwork I sent. After what I spent on his product I have no money left to spend on his quack friends. One thing you will notice is that when these treatments fail (or make you sick) it is never their fault. It's you or something you did. Your diet, your bad habits, your doctor etc. They will happily take every last dime you have and, when things go wrong, blame you. (I also want to mention that their doctors are rather young and that the treatments are not customized for your condition. They simply give you IVs/injections of stem cells and send you on your way). I would take any "patient testimonials" with a grain of salt. This clinic has "investors" and my guess is that many of the "patients" featured on their IG account are financially invested friends and colleagues of Dr. Gonzalez who are exchanging glowing reviews for free treatments. Most recently he treated a radio personality at Rehealth and was then featured on his podcast. How convenient. I really hope my review saves someone their time, money and health. I wish I would have known all of this before spending all my money and ruining my health. You can get much better treatment at a more experienced clinic for a lot less. Save yourself the trouble and heartache.

So off to Cancun we went. It just so happened that My wife and I 24th anniversary fell on the same week we both needed work! So in just a 2 week span we coordinated with Dr Ortega and the resort and we found ourselves in paradise! Upon arrival to Cancún Dr Ortega had setup our transportation! The trip started off great! Monday comes around and that is when we met the Dental Design Studios driver Karlo! He pulled up in an almost brand new amazing van and we spent 5 days getting to know this awesome guy.
