Shrimp platter with fries & coleslaw
Cody D.

Came here for lunch the day after Christmas because there are only so many leftovers one can eat. T and I both had the shrimp platter that came with a generous number of shrimp. The menu literally says "8 or so jumbo shrimp," so hopefully you get the "or so" like I did. The shrimp were excellent; perfectly fried and the dredge they use is well seasoned. The fries were hot and seasoned, and the coleslaw was cold, creamy, and delicious. The homemade hush puppies were so good I ate my 2 and the 2 T didn't want. The ladies working were very friendly and attentive, bringing out cocktail sauce and some spicy mayo that was really good. If you're in the area looking for a good place to eat, stopping here is a solid play.

It's my first time here, I found out about this food place near me on Yelp, and I really don't regret it. The place is not big, but it is comfortable, it looks clean. The employee was very kind and very sweet. checking all the time that everything was fine. The food arrived hot and didn't take long. I ordered a shrimp plater with coleslaw fries. My husband ordered the shrimp po boy's with fries and coleslaw. This was one of the best coleslaw I have ever had, so fresh, so delicious. The shrimp melt in your mouth and the breading is very light. My husband's Po boys were packed with shrimp, a total of 20 shrimp.

we searched yelp for a local mom and pop seafood restaurant. Shannon's Seafood Kitchen was 18 miles away, but so many people raved about it, we decided to bite the bullet even though it was rush hour and took a long time to get there. so glad we did! we had a seafood platter where you get to pick any two of their specialties. we had fried okra, a double steak burger, some John's Bangin' Shrimp, and a bunch of sides. this was the crunchiest and best okra i've ever had. it was so crunchy, our plastic forks would bend instead of piercing the batter, so we had to eat it with our fingers. The blackened grouper was moist, tasty, flaky, tender. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I do not recommend the double steak burger :-) . it was so huge, i could not fit my mouth around it. the single would have been perfect. the fresh onions and piles of tomatoes made it so fresh tasting. the burger itself was thick and juicy. the bacon was crisp and thick. what a burger. we had not eaten all day, so we ordered too much. the fried oysters were delish, the banana pudding was very tasty. the bangin' shrimp was seasoned like buffalo wings with green onions on top, very original. it was a great experience all together. the people were so nice, even other customers spoke to us and invited us into this little local community. if you get a chance to stop in, you won't regret it.

Snapper was soo delicious!

Small establishment with Big taste! Fresh seafood. Recommend mullet or snapper. Both were good.

The shrimp was overcooked taste like the grease was old, but the collard greens is OK. It'll be a while before I go back.

On that beginning she has built a solid clientele and business. For no reason in particular it just never occurred to me to wonder what the store was about or to consider visiting. That is until earlier this year the PNJ did a story on some of Pensacola's best sandwiches noting Carmen's open face Spanish crab melt sandwich, which I immediately decided to we needed in our life. The store is literally a lunch bar... 18 seats around a U shaped bar. There os also a small window table and a few al fresco tables on the sidewalk out front along Palafox. Carmen's offers a wine list that cover's the bases and we ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The interesting menu offerings here feature it appears Southern influenced Spanish/International cooking. For our lunch, of course, we shared the crab melt sandwich and also the Spanish crab pepper poppers. Both were so very unique and so enjoyably tasty. Definitely do agains. This is such a cool little venue with creative food offerings excellently prepared. It is no wonder the store has prospered and become a downtown dining institution. And the kitchen here! LOL. It is not much larger than my little bedroom closet. But those two cats have got it going on in there. We so enjoyed our visit

However, one employee single-handedly ruined the reputation of this establishment for me. My mother and I have frequented this place for about a year now. They've always had phenomenal customer service and food. However, yesterday when we pulled up to the drive-thru, we were immediately assaulted by the strongest weed scent that we have ever smelled off of one singular person before. In layman terms, the drive-thru worker stank. Badly. When my mother points out how overwhelming the aroma of weed is, instead of being apologetic, the drive-thru worker immediately gets defensive (as all junkies in denial do) and proceeds to call my mom and I quote a "f*ckin idiot". The worker also claimed that she had cancer and was using the herb for medicinal reasons. As paying customers, we have every right to a refund and yet this woman initially denied me one, claiming that they "didn't do" refunds. To make matters worse, she took my card to the back of the restaurant instead of returning it to me, which I did not appreciate at all, as I have no way of knowing whether she took a quick snapshot or not. Magically, she could suddenly do refunds when I threatened to call police. She also mentioned that she would make up some fabrication to the police and accuse us of trespassing when, in actuality, we were simply trying to order. As far as the cancer claim, due to her willingness to lie about not being able to give me a refund and about us "trespassing", I am not fully convinced that this woman is not just another pothead lying to justify her addiction. Will not be returning here.
