GMC had been unable to locate a new (that is to say "on a shelf for the past nineteen years") rear differential for the car. They had, however, unearthed a used assembly, but eventually determined it to be unsatisfactory for some unspecified reason. After a wasted morning, I was summarily dismissed with a greasy handshake, an excessive diagnostics bill and best wishes for finding a suitable mechanic to fix the problem that GM-trained technicians were unable to resolve. I found just such a mechanic across from the Holiday station in St. Boni. Kyle (the eponymous namesake of the Bearded Mechanic brand) searched the Internet for a proper rear differential and--in less than five minutes--located a new (unused) one. Kyle's sunny optimism was a welcome change from the apathy that was prevalent at the General Motors dealership. Kyle and his employee Isaiah (also a bearded mechanic) repaired the car in a single day at a reasonable cost. (The lavish price of the differential was set by the online seller.) My car now runs flawlessly and I couldn't be more pleased. If there is a drawback to having a car serviced by The Bearded Mechanic(s), it's that exceptional service inevitably results in a waiting list. I highly recommend The Bearded Mechanic (in fact, both of them).

The place is immaculate and it was relaxing to have a complimentary beverage and wait in the quiet waiting room. Kyle the owner checked me in and Isaiah did the work and did my paperwork. Set up with James to get my Suburban for detailing because I was selling it. Initially he was…read moreprompt in response and they offered to come pick up my vehicle. Got it back timely and overall it looked great just extremely "greasy", floor mats had a lot of armor all or whatever cleaner on them. Main issue came up the next day when I had a warning light come on that my front lane departure camera wasn't working. I tried diagnosing myself thinking maybe some cleaner got in the camera (one behind rearview mirror) but found nothing. Texted James the next day to see if he knew what happened and he stated it wasn't anything they did. I've had this suburban for 7yrs/114k and NEVER had this issue, so clearly was related to the detailing service. Next day took it in to Chevy dealer and after spending a day in the shop they discovered that the floorboards where still soaked from the detailing. The service advisor said they still found standing water on the floorboards so they had to pull all the mats and use fans to try and dry everything out. And the wiring harness for the camera was under there and they found the wires had corroded and shorted out causing the issue. Cost $500 in labor/diagnosing to fix. Texted James multiple times but never even responded. Told him he could even reach out to the Chevy dealer directly if he wanted to hear from them (they clearly stated this was the fault of the detailer). Texted James to even just do a half refund, which still wouldn't even come close to cover my damages but nothing. Disappointed any business owner is that eager to take our business/money but won't even respond to a complaint once it goes bad. I would strong recommend finding someone else to clean your vehicle, I would never use these guys again!
