I called shamrock at 3:12am and talked to a woman that I told I needed a cab at 7:10-7:20am and needed to be somewhere by 7:30am since the destination is 7 mins away. I get a call at 7:41am by a boy driver asking if I still need the cab and I said no because they're late and now so am I so already got an uber . The boy proceeds to tell me that ill be getting a $10 charge on my next ride for canceling even though they're 10-20 mins late . & tells me that it was a courtesy call and that HE was the one I spoke with when I know the difference between the two voices I spoke to . He also proceeds to tell me that he has been there since 11pm after I told him that I spoke to a woman. & he continues to argue with me about how I must have called a different cab service even though I have the screenshot of the time that I called and the number also I asked him and repeated thennumber and he confirmed it was not him. That was the most unprofessional person/ call I have EVER had w Shamrock cab service and I rarely ever call there but if I do call there again in the future and I get charged an extra $10 I WILL most definitely be going forward w my issues to the boss in charge. Scheduled ride the day before; no potential problems mentioned, even said they would try to have a cab available for return at anticipated time. Day of scheduled ride they called to say they'd be late. Kept guessing later and later times until they couldn't even guarantee pickup an hour later than requested because the drivers had discretion to put other customers ahead of pre-scheduled rides. Got the feeling they just wanted to cancel it because it was a short ride that wouldn't make them much money. So we cancelled it. And won't be using them for longer rides either. read more

Honor is lacking: Time -- over one hour beyond the communicated time of pick up Cleanliness-- the cab was filthy Person -- the driver did not bother to greet with even a simple hello Professionalism -- the driver suggested that I should know of drivers from Detroit ( I was being transported from Beaumont Hospital Emergency, 5 miles from my home) He complained about how far he had to travel to get to this location, and back to the area of his usual fares. ""Couldn't you find somebody to take you back to Detroit?" He asked dryly. When I suggested that he speak to his dispatcher about that issue, and reminded him of the value of a simple hello, he expressed that he did not feel that need. He stopped his cab to calculate the fare asking if I was paying cash. He informed of the $33 fee I asked what I owed him for the approximate one mile of travel. I paid him the $6 fee and told him to let me out. I shared that he would do well to develop a more customer oriented approach When I called the dispatcher, she hung up phone on me. Did I say that I was returning home after spending time in hospital emergency? I am 73 years old. I was better, yet ill. My mode of interaction was appropriate though ending sternly. Getting home was not exactly easy, but I did get home safely though a bit tired as I walked for a distance Never have I experienced such treatment That night an ambulance was called because of acute muscle spasms in my feet, legs and hips lasting for almost an hour , and during which I time I could not stand or walk. I can't help but believe that the additional walking from the Shamrock experience had something to do with this event. read more

I booked taxi for doctor's appointment more than 24 hours in advance. My appointment was at 3:00, I booked taxi for 2:30. Taxi had not arrived by 2:50. I called and was told taxi wouldn't come for another 15 minutes. I had to cancel the critically important visit. Dispatcher blamed me for not booking taxi for 2:15; said it was my fault for not knowing they operated on a 30-minute window. read more

Needed a ride home from from the rental car lot. I gave them the address and landmarks, but the first driver drives right past, never to return. The second driver finds me, even though the car has no GPS (Note: they're cheap, guys.). The taxi itself is a real beater: dented and dirty outside, dirty and damaged inside. The driver had the sports talk program cranked up at ear-ringing volume the whole trip. He yells for directions to me, rather than turn it down. This is bad. I had to wait for an hour to be picked up and when the driver arrived, he wan unapologetic and.......he was a racist The cab should've been condemned I.T was filthy and raggedy on the inside. I wish i could give them ZERO stars! This is the worst company! Do NOT rely on them as a means of transportation. I've had a terrible experience with them refusing services to me. I called for a ride and waited outside for the cab driver for over an hour. When I called to get a status update, they claimed a cab had already been there, and refused to send another. No stars. Rude, trashy and unprofessional. Don't ever call these people. This organization verbally over the phone told me to "fuck off". They did not give me an estimated time of arrival, and after 34 minutes of no arrival I left. As I was leaving I called them twice with no answer, and actually reviewed a voicemail. I then proceeded to make it home an hour and a half later and then received a call from a driver, and immediately was called an " asshole". Watched a driver be so awful to a sweet old lady today. I walked out with her from my place of work to make sure she got out okay, and I'm glad I was there to help her into the car, because the driver was not having it. He was trying to rush her, and was not subtle about it. He literally said "hurry up lady, I've got other customers". That's not how customer service works! I'm also 95% sure he started the meter before they left because she was taking so long to get into the car. If I hadn't have been on the clock, I would have had some choice words for this man! read more

DO NOT USE THIS CAB SERVICE. If you have an appointment or looking for a reliable cab service, they are NOT it. I called on September 25th and I was told the cab would arrive in 30 minutes. 45 minutes later when the cab didn't show up, I called back only to be told that the cab would arrive in another 10-15 minutes. One hour later when I called again for an update I was told the driver was trying to find me and he's minutes from me. I said look I'll give him 5 minutes as my destination was closing soon...when I said that, the rude old female dispatcher got nasty and said "oh, you'll give him five minutes" like they were doing me a huge favor after they had me sitting and waiting for an hour. She then lied and said I gave her the wrong cross streets. That I said 16 mile rather 15 mile rd. Who doesn't know their address? And I guess the old bat didn't realize that when she answered the phone she said 15 mile calling...so she knew the cross streets. Worst cab company I have every encountered. The other reviewer is correct, cab companies should be worried about Uber. I will be looking for a Uber driver in my area. read more

The taxi driver brought up interesting topics all the way from Clinton TWP to Detroit Metro Airport and was a joy to ride with, and all company reps. were great - barely made my flight and then I was charged $140. Believe that I was overcharged when I look at the miles on Mapquest, etc. - my remembering, too, the estimates given a day or so ahead of time by the company and other companies for the drive to airport....(Oct 14, 2016 update to above posting from Sep: Dee Dee from Shamrock Cab Co did finally return my call and is going to refund $45 to me, and company has decided to make airport rides now a flat $95 - which does compare to the others, unfortunately, all too high, but here to thank company for needed refund) read more

I just waited 2 hours for a cab from this company. I called several times to inquire why or if the cab was coming at all. I was told it would be "15 minutes" and that I was "next" twice. When the cab finally showed up, the driver was stuffing his mouth with a sandwich, and continued to eat an egg salad sandwich (very apparent and offensive) 2 honey buns (which he unraveled with both hands instead of driving), and a tall can of tea (which he also opened and drank down while driving) and even had time to take a couple of vitamins from 2 different bottles (which he had to use both hands to open and pour out, while driving). All in the most disgustingly dirty, unkept, busted up, cigarette burned, garbage on the floor, cab that I have ever been in. I was horrified by the condition of this vehicle, and the fact that I had to put my precious, clean daughter in the back seat of it. It cost me 25$ to go 2.5 miles and back. I cant believe that there is not a better cab company available. If you have two vehicles, and advertise yourself as a cab company, I am certain that you can take every bit of business away from Shamrock, and be a complete success.
