I took my free class with Coach Shay, and she was absolutely amazing, so welcoming and supportive, and she guided me through everything. I then tried the 1-week trial, and I just knew this was the place for me. From day one, I felt comfortable and encouraged. The coaches truly care and take the time to make sure you feel confident and motivated, always there to answer any questions or concerns you have along the way. I recently completed my one year with HIIT It and I feel stronger than ever and can really see the changes in my body. You will find all fitness levels here, beginners, intermediate, and advanced, and every workout can be modified to fit your ability, which makes a huge difference. This place is truly the best. I saw this place on ClassPass and it was pretty new, so I decided to give it a try. I went to 3…read moreclasses total to get a feel of this place. HIIT It is located in a little plaza that has good amount of parking. It is a relatively new place with the 1 year anniversary coming up when I visited. All 3 days I came here, Shaylynn was the instructor, and she is one of the owners as well. Your first session you have to come 20 minutes early to go over the process and some equipment they have. Everything is pretty standard except the Ancore system and the ropes they use. The ropes are different as it's more in the wrist. Didn't use them in any of the workouts but I did a quick try and it was interesting. The Ancore is a pulley weight system that is easy to use. Make sure you bring your own towel or they do charge for one. The classes itself I have to judge in two ways. For beginners/older people who want a little less cardio and more focus on slow movements, HIIT It is perfect. You have 5 stations with two exercises at each station. You do 45 second rounds three times at each station. Unlike other places, they focus more on slow, controlled movements throughout the round rather than as many rep as possible. For more advanced people, this allows you to focus on a little heavier weights to challenge yourself. The main reason I knock it down 1 star is that for intermediate to advanced, it is a bit slow. My heart rate is about 10bpm less for the average throughout the entire workout and I barely break a sweat. The hardest day was for me the lower body day as there was a bit more cardio in there. I did like that the pace allowed me to go a bit heavier and focus on the muscle in each exercise though. Overall, I think HIIT It is a good gym, particularly for people looking for a little less intimidating class. Shaylynn did an excellent job motivating, correcting form, and challenging people throughout the workout. To me, it looked like they were building a good community too based on the member's interactions with each other. Plus for their anniversary party, 60 people reserved to go, so that says something about the community they are building. I will be back on days where I want to change my usual pace and will add it to my rotation of gyms.

There's a reason this place is rated the #1 CrossFit in Orange County, you gotta experience it to believe it. I've had a lot of skepticism about CrossFit, especially with those fail videos all over YouTube. Many friends would discourage CrossFit, saying it was dangerous, expensive, and had dumb programming. Even with these warnings, I was still intrigued. The athletes that did CrossFit were amazing and it just seemed fun. After working out at a globo gym for years, I was ready for a change. I made an appointment with Kary (one of their coaches) and began their on ramp session (SUPER IMPORTANT! Don't go to a crossfit that throws you into the classes without an assessment). They have you go through three on-ramp days each with a different focus, and have you do a graduation WOD (workout of the day) at the end of it. After that first week, you're able to join the classes. The classes are structured into three parts: warmup and mobility, strength, and WOD/metcon. The coaches here pay very close attention to your movement patterns and always emphasize safety over ego lifting. It's also always really awesome to have your peers cheer you on as you fight to keep up with everyone, experienced and noobie alike. CFAP is an inclusive place where everyone from all walks of life can come in, get a good sweat, and laugh about how painfully fun it all was! Give this place a go, you won't regret it! I waited a good 6 months to write my review on the chance I was completely WOD drunk the first few months.

It's pretty small space that is separated to 3 main areas: front stretching area and two rooms that are used for the gym sessions. There are little cubicles in the hallway to stow your stuff and a small recovery room and bathroom. Everything was very clean and towels are provided. The class is about roughly a 35-40 minute class. There are multiple stations where you do 2 sets of 45 seconds and as many reps as possible in that time. You rotate through quite a few stations. Overall, it is a pretty good workout. It's not the hardest HIIT class I've been to, but I like it for one big reason and the main reason for the 5 stars: the machines. I've been to many different style HIIT classes and this is the only one that has machines incorporated for isolations. From a bicep curl machine, hip thrust machine, leg curl machines, smith machine, and my favorite: the leg press. I don't have room for a leg press at my home gym so this was nice to use again. Lu, the owner/trainee, does a great job and not only remembering everyone's names, but capabilities. He also does a great job bouncing around help setting up machines and correcting form while the workout is going on. I have 2 minor negatives: 1: I'm not a fan of at the rack with the bar for bench press you start from the safeties. I get why they do it for more efficiency when switching between people, but much rather start from the J cups. 2: stretching is not built in so you have to get here early and stretch on your own. Overall, I've added this gym to my regular rotation of gyms I go to for HIIT classes each week, not really for the difficulty but for the incorporation of the machines into it. I still get a good workout, my HR just isn't as high as other gyms. The culture seems pretty good as regular members seem to know each other well and Lu knows each person well.
