First, Pauline offered the first class free--what a gift, right?! I don't know how long she will do that, so come visit soon! I love to dance and Pauline has presented a class that allows you to own your movement and get in touch with YOU. I appreciate that she's created a space for that in her class. Nia has a small level of choreography, but you personalize it and go as aggressive or as relaxed as you need. I like so many genre's of music and at her class, I think I heard jazz, exotic music styles and maybe even some pop. It was smooth. To tie it all together, Nia dance incorporates an awareness of breath, body and mind. If you're looking for a dance class that is healing, fun, uplifts and prepares you for the rest of your day/week check out her class.

I told her my concerns with the communication issues, she failed to inform the owner. The owner has cut my child from the revue 3 weeks before it and refuses to refund the money for the extremely cheap costume. She said I wasn't giving the teacher a chance because she was young which is absolutely not true. She threatened to send her attourney after me for saying on social media that they were unorganized. The class this year was terrible. I rarely saw a teacher help a child with their dance moves. What a huge waste of money and time not to mention my child is suffering because of it.

Otherwise, our 2 year experience there was frustrating. 1. DRAMA So much drama. My life is too busy for such and I think the school needs to nip that in the bud and get it under control. I stopped going into the studio just to avoid it. 2. COMMUNICATION This was an area of extreme frustration. Emails with loads of info written in paragraph form and sometimes from various email accounts from the school. It was hard to keep up and decipher what was the latest. Example: a schedule would be sent out for the weekend practices. Then, that would change 5 times and you would have to find the latest email with the latest changes. Sometimes they put something in a 5 paragraph email that was a minor detail for something needed a month away and then expect you to remember. Then, they would remind you of the said needed item the night before (often a Sunday night) and there are no stores open to go buy the needed item for the next day. 3. UN-ORGANIZATION See above. If you love a constant flow of changes to schedules and such, this is the place for you! 4. UNPROFESSIONALISM The way money was handled and the responses you would get regarding issues was very unprofessional. I am surprised they are still in business. Example: you would get charged for late entry fees for competitions because they didn't pay it by deadline. The reason they didn't pay was because the students didn't pay (they say). Yet, you would not have any invoice that they claimed they sent a month before. When my daughter decided to quit, the response I got back was so unprofessional and self-centered that I told them to keep any money I had already paid in advanced because they were going to need it!

This was my daughter's first year at BXP, and her fourth year overall in dance. We tried two other…read morestudios prior to this...one very classical for ballet (which was not my daughter's cup of tea at the time), and another studio whose program was recreational and not quite the experience my young dancer wanted. BXP offers the variety of classes she wanted, and the teachers have challenged her. The growth at the end of the year was clearly evident. Towards the recital, my daughter needed extra support, I asked for it and she got it. My favorite part as the parent was, of course, the recital. :) The recital was gorgeous! Fees were not as expensive as some of the other schools, and considering it took place at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre, I felt that we got a good value. Performing as professionals do has increased my daughter's love of dance. Not sure what more a parent could want from a dance school. I was shocked to find a one-star review of this place (from 2013). That review does not at all reflect the experience we had at BXP. Maybe there have been changes since then....but there are many students who have been dancing with them for over five years. I hope that my daughter becomes one of them.

They do not communicate with their members and families other than to bill you and they basically do whatever they want. I would not send my dog to this academy much less my daughter. I truly think they are very close to being guilty of discriminating behavior in the way they run things.

The staff has been super helpful, friendly and well organized. The skills that she has learned here are exceptional. To watch your daughter blossom from a cute little 18 month old crying in class for mommy to a 10 year old running out the door excitingly awaiting to learn more is more than I can ever ask.
