Finally tried a childhood fave of my dad's.
It's been YEARS since he had Shakey's so everything "taste" and "feels" different he said.
I think Shakey's is pretty popular(?) in the Philippines because we drove by one so many times in Manilla. We ended up eating at one inside SM North Edsa.
They were pretty busy when we arrived. We waited just a few minutes though. Their menu is what you'd expect at a pizza parlor. Wings, beer, salad... pizza. Lol. We ended up getting the Mojo's & Dip which is a sliced potato fried in batter. I felt like the batter was a bit too thick but it was still pretty tender. We chose the Shakey's Special which was recommended by our waiter. He said it's pretty similar to the Manager's Special but Shakey's Special has pepperoni.
My dad wanted thick crust but I think there was a misunderstanding of what "thick crust" meant. We were told they don't offer that but I think "hand tossed" would be the proper term? I'm not so sure. We ended up getting it thin crust and it was fair. It wasn't bad but it wasn't life changing. It kind of reminded me of a lunchable pizza- just fully loaded.
Would I go here again? Only if there is absolutely nowhere else to go. read more
