Before getting dinner here I asked my cousin, "Do the Shakey's here have alcohol?" He laughed and said, "I don't think so." I was disappointed until I saw San Miguel on the menu in either mugs or pitchers.
1 pizza, 1 spaghetti, 1 bucket of mojos, 5 milkshakes, and 3 beers cost about $40 after being converted from pesos to dollars and it fed a party of 2 adults and 4 teenagers. In America all of that would have cost $60 minimum.
Service sucks, but that's the norm in the Philippines. I had to remind them 3 times for a refill on beer before it actually got to me.
As for food, nothing beats American pizza back home. But being a 3rd world country, the knockoff American pizza wasn't bad. I haven't been to Shakey's in America in far too long so I can't compare the international chain's pizza by country but it was edible and good enough to eat, it just wasn't great. I can say the same for the spaghetti and mojos.
Highlight of the meal was the San Miguel beer, milkshake, and decor. Shakey's in America is a children's pizza parlour but Shakey's in the Philippines is a sit down restaurant with floor to ceiling glass windows that are a nice touch so you can look outside and see all the jeepneys and tricycles nearly get into accidents with each other. read more
