This is a very belated review.. however last year we ended a wonderful Saratoga weekend here, and I…read morecannot say enough positive things about our experience at woodland meadow farm. The alpacas and all the other animals (peacocks, turkeys, doggos) are all loved and well taken care of. Elaine is kind, patient and interested in the folks that visit her. You could sit and talk for hours! Duchess, the beautiful white lady of the farm is a working dog and still sleeps inside with her family at night. Only recommendation I would make is maybe a sink available to wash your hands. We didnt really get dirty but It's a farm, after all!

I'd been wanting to see alpacas in person for a really long time . I'd been hearing beautiful…read morethings about them. I am so glad to get the experience of meeting lots of these beautiful animals in these farm. Woodland meadow farm is a working farm. The owners breed alpacas for business. They started with only 3 alpacas and now after 11 years of operation, they have 73 total of different mixed breeds. It is a huge farm that can accommodate all the animals daily activities. Alpacas are adorable, charming and friendly. As per understanding, alpacas are raised basically for their luxurious and expensive fibers. It is being sell per pound to turn into hats, scarves, blankets , sweaters etc. If at once you received an item made of alpacas fiber, it is said to be a precious possession that lasts years time. They are scheduled to be sheered once a year. During our visit, the owner let me dip my finger how much deep one alpaca fiber has , about 4 inches deep. Cool! We witnessed the love of the owners to these creatures , an inspiration to reckon with. Being said , who knows, I maybe farming these wonderful creatures in the future or may get one as pet. We learned a lot about alpacas from the owners during this visit. The farm is worth visiting if you have the love for these animals. Come visit the farm and get to experience a unique enchantment.

Love it here. Free…read morecompletely free - no admission fee, no parking fee. Very friendly people. Small business vibes. Follow your maps and once you cross the bridge they have tons of signs to direct you, hard to get lost. Trust they're hours, we showed up in the pouring rain and they're still open 9am-5pm weekdays. As soon as you walk in you'll get free samples. We sampled 5 cheeses and 2 grades of maple syrup - it sells itself. One cheese is made with unpasteurized milk - others include sharp cheddar, sage, smoked. Convinced me to try traveling home with cheese for the first time. Tons of products available for sell including from other farms as well. I recommend picking up some of the Red Kite Candy caramels they have there. If you liked it as much as me their factory is about a 30 min drive away. Other activities include petting animals (not in winter), walking trail, and self guided tour of their maple house. Wasn't able to do the trail in the rain but I would estimate you can do all of this in 2 hours. Not at all like Billings Farm if you're concerned about going to both or only have time for one. Billings has an admission fee, no samples of milk or cheese though the make both. More of a museum but they do have up close interactions with their cows (even in winter) for the kids, butter churning, candle dipping. Recommend Billing for taking kids on homesteading field trip, Sugarbush a quick stop for foodie/charcuterie person IMPORTANT: They do NOT sell sugarbush products at any of the stores in Woodstock so don't plan to buy more later and have regrets like us - we looked in every store and couldn't find it. Not sure about Quechee though. Products can also be ordered online and shipped

Weather got a little hariy getting there with the slushy roads, but we made it! It's pretty remote location with no street lights, so if driving in the dark look for the signs to get there and trust your GPS. There's a large parking lot across from the entrance to the little store/shop. The shop is actually the owners old family home I belive. We arrived pretty much at closing time, but we were still welcomed warmly. We got a cheese & maple syrup tasting which was yum and informative, and the staff member that did it was really nice, I forgot her name, but see photo below. One of the cheeses has won a cheese competition, very cool. We also got to meet the owner, but she was busy getting Christmas orders together. I perused all of the cheeses I wanted and settled on 4. We got to try 2 out of the 4 from the cheese sampling. The nice lady that checked me out even gave me some nice to-go samples as well. The smoked cheese was my fav, and the sage. But I enjoyed them all. I was able to easily fly home to TX with them due to the cold weather of the season. After the tasting, we got to peruse the store. They have so much other stuff to buy in additon to cheese and maple, tons of knick-knacks and gifts and merch. We didn't get to explore the farm after since it was pitch black when we left, too bad. Enjoy!

We rented all five cabins and barn for a wedding and with recommendations from Todd and Suzy the event was a total success. The cabins are well equipped with everything you need for your stay and the views a truly breathtaking, sitting on the patio looking across the valley. The hiking trails around the farm are nice and there was plenty to do around the local area during our four-night stay. The adults had a great time around the fire pit at night that Todd setup and the children had a great time during the day exploring, hiking and using the great play area. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, I would highly recommend The Fat Sheep Farm.

The cabin was well appointed, had some fancy soap and for the first time, we could use the provided shampoo (which was sulfate and paraben free) because our kiddos have curly hair. The kitchen was well equipped- coffee pretty good, appliances and pots and pans are in great condition. We also have a 2 plus year old and they were super nice in lending us a pack and play along with a mattress in it. I'm not sure about the odd experiences the other reviewer had because nothing of the same sort ever happened to us in the least. Todd and Suzy were super nice and helpful. Our kid loved doing farm chores every morning with Suzy. Both kids think she is the "best farmer" ever. She has an incredible amount of patience as she listened to their many farm related stories while we "helped" with farm chores. I say "helped" because the work was extremely light so don't worry about it. In terms of flexibility, they have been great. We had to move our booking because of the covid situation last year and they were incredibly helpful.
