I have been twice for dinner with a large family booking and whilst the venue itself isn't to my taste with its dated interior, it does churn out decent, no fuss food.
First night was the Aussie schnitzel which was a little dry but a huge portion that I couldn't finish. Last night I had the $23 Mother's Day pork loin special. It was absolutely delicious! I can overlook the simple presentation as comfort food is not about being showy. The mustard/brandy sauce was plate licking good and the cold weather made the sweet potato mash even more enjoyable. I'd order it again. Meals in general are generous.
I feel the wait was lengthy between the breads and mains. Yes it was Mother's Day but they were not busy. The kids meals also came out before the adult mains which I realise is standard for a lot of pubs but they had pretty much devoured theirs before any mains came out leaving a lot of kids with little to do but pester their parents trying to eat. Not me though. I don't have any kids, WINNING!!
We were also given a complimentary bottle of champagne which we ended up giving to another table. 1 - not many wanted to drink it. 2 - the promise of 4 wine glasses by our waitress never eventuated. I suppose we could have swigged from the bottle but that's not showing our mums good table manners. read more
