If you are an adult who is looking for a place to call home and maybe get a little peace and quiet, Shadow Glen is absolutely not for you. I've had my share of apartments, and they all require a degree of acceptance. But in all my years as a renter, I have never lived in a place with so many inconsiderate neighbors. It's sad too, because they are a handful of really cool people living here. I feel sorry for them they should move. Nice people should not live at Shadow Glen, because they will be stepped on and trampled over by a pack of wild, rambunctious, and unattended grade school children. Don't get me wrong, kids will be kids, and I am well aware that some of them can be challenging. I am a mother myself, but it is beyond my comprehension to send my kids out the door every night so that they can scream at the top of their lungs, tear through the ground on scooters, destroy the laundry room, and kick soccer balls up against your car & around the property as though it was a public park. I tried addressing this with the site manager, and she just said there's nothing she can do about noisy children. Really? Now it's time to discuss the homeless problem that reoccurs daily in this "gated" apartment complex. Yes, there are gates at Shadow Glen, but they a-holes that live here genlock, so that they can let their friends in and out for a walk to the store without taking a key. They don't realize they're shooting themselves in the face, because then the homeless people decide to walk in and start ripping through all of the trash and closures and tossing trash all over. There is a community bike rack around the back of the complex, and parents are shocked when their child's bicycle has gone missing, even though it's those very parents who left the gate unlocked for the homeless people, and local crystal meth dealers. And just think, all of this and 889 sq ft, could be yours for a mere $2k a month! Don't wait!!! Reserve now, before three immigrant families (living together in a 2-be) beat you to it..... read more

I signed a six-month lease here, not realizing that I wasn't moving to an apartment complex. I was moving into a public playground. There are at least a dozen elementary and preschool aged kids that are left unsupervised by the parents, to treat this place as though it is a school yard. But at least at a public playground, the parents are somewhere actually keeping an eye on the kids. That's not the case at Shadow Glen. I don't know how it's legal, or why every adult that lives here isn't up in arms about the inconsiderate fellow renters that think it's OK to just release their sticky faced, booger-eating offspring, to hold the whole community hostage each and every nite. And OMG, the yelling and noise levels are absolutely earsplitting. It's too bad that you can't open your windows and enjoy the nice weather when we actually have it in Ramona!! Nope. You can't do that because you cannot even hear yourself talk in your own kitchen with the level of shrill screaming that's being produced by the legion of feral kids right outside your window, 9 feet away. And God forbid, if you go out there and say anything to these rotten apples. One time I asked them to please quiet down and stop screaming. I had a neighbor pounding on my door in five minutes, telling me that I was out of line, and threatening me with violence for assaulting their children. What a pathetic joke. I have 2 young children myself. And it has never dawned on me to just push them out the door and hope for the best, letting the rest of the world raise them, so that I can sit at my dining room table and scroll on my phone for 4-1/2 hours. But that is exactly how it is here, in the world of Shadow Glen. Oh yeah.... As bad as these people are with their kids, they're even worse with their dogs. Well it looks like someone finally called CPS on the parents in Apartment 184, because those terrible kids disappeared for a while. But it won't last because the family still lives here, and you can't take the stupid or lazy out of people. Those awful kids will return. It's sad. But what's really hard to believe, is that it took so long for anyone to do anything about those rotten neglectful parents. For years, one family's 3 (or 4?) children have been allowed to run completely loose like wild animals, fighting with each other, inciting fights with other children, and just causing general needless mayhem, and property damage. For about a month now, this apartment Community has been quiet, clean, and damage free. And it's 100% because those particular kids were not outside. It will be interesting to see what happens when school is back in. I'm guessing Shadow Glen will go right back to being a friggin ZOO! Filled with screaming fighting unwatched welfare children, tearing thru the complex with bare feet and no visible guidance or conscience to be found anywhere. BTW, every one of my neighbors all despise the trash people that rot away in apt 184. We've all tried to ask their kids to mellow out a little or clean up thier destruction, but every time we do, one of those "parents" comes knocking on your door or assaults you outside with an insult. Why!?? Because you had the nerve to speak to their perfect kids, meanwhile that's exactly what happens when you send your children out into society with no morals or guidance. Okay place but a mixed bag. Decent enough management & staff, but kind of outdated older apartments with thick multiple coats of paint to cover flaws. The grounds are pretty nice and decently kept. The trash enclosures are a disaster. I can't tell if it's homeless people rooting through the trash or super lazy parents sending their kids out who can't get the trash bag up into the dumpster and then it just dumps all over the ground. I've seen both here ! Speaking of kids - loud unattended kids everywhere, and no one does anything about it. Why??? Well, because you can't. I was walking out to my car one day, and some child had left his scooter, leaning up against it. When I went to move the scooter, this kid started screaming at me and crying. The next day his parents stopped me and asked me why I had "harassed" their little angel. It's an insane contradiction! Super irresponsible parents who are also strangely overprotective, Just sitting in their apartment while their children freak out all over the place, and, counting on Society to raise them, . Meanwhile, it's these same misguided parents who become outraged if you happen to mention to anyone that their kids are behaving unruly. It seems like these days good parenting means sending your children out to play unattended for hours at a time, demanding everyone else to "deal" them, while simultaneously being offended by any type of input by a member of the very community that you have released your unattended children upon. I have been a resident here at shadow Glen since 2015. This was my first exposure to apartment living, and I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised. The managerial staff, (Marybeth and Jimena), seem to really care about the entire complex, and the individual renter's needs, too. The maintenance staff (led by Jose), is very friendly and approachable. Plus, they have someone available around the clock to help with any emergencies...and they don't delay!! Ultimately a living environment is like a small village. And it takes everybody here to keep it nice...(& that includes the residents). I would say that most of the folks that live here are fairly conscientious about keeping things up.... Of course there can be a few individuals that have no regard for others, but that might be unavoidable no matter where you live. I don't think it's fair to hold the managers and maintenance crew responsible for a few inconsiderate people. Regardless... Lately it feels as though the grounds keepers, the maintenance staff, and the managers have been really putting in a lot of extra effort to make Shadow Glen look great. And... It shows!!! (In fact, that's why am writing this review). I like to take pride in where I live, and it is a lot easier when the people who are in charge do too!!! read more

I gave Shadow Glen an extra star since my last review 2 years ago, because as of July 7, 2026 - the last manager left. And since then Shadow Glen has been much more peaceful. I'm not saying the problems here were her fault, but she still shouldn't have been sharing private details about residents with their neighbors. That's has to be a breach of conduct. I'm not sure, but it did nothing to bring the community together. Pitting residents against each other just added to their already strained relationships. But there is still a fair amount of emotional & structural rebuilding that needs to happen in this community. We need a manager that has an actual understanding of what's required to handle an apartment complex like this with 300+ people living in one place. Luckily, those 3 out-of-control kids from building H, which caused 90% of the insanity here just magically went away. Maybe someone placed a call to Child Protective Services??? All I know is that the absence of those awful children and the manager's departure, has made Shadow Glen much calmer and a lot quieter. read more

Property managers have some core legal duties In CA. Possibly the most important of these is clearly communicating with residents & enforcing community guidelines. Shadow Glen is completely lacking in this department. We've all been to the public park and seen the chump who leaves his dog poop behind, or the parent who allows their kids to flip-out for way too long in restaurant, or how about the loser who can't seem to get thier car into a parking space without scraping your fender. Well, guess what!??!? They all live here at Shadow Glen!! The Apartment Community with over 300 residents and zero enforced rules. But why? Well...There's no satisfactory answer to this. And I suppose to some people that seems like an upgrade from whatever rat infested dump they're coming from. But we were promised a clean secure living environment. That was 1000% a lie. Because our family is terrified at night here, and sometimes even during the day. Stay Away. It's a slum with fresh paint. That's the actual truth. Don't be fooled like us. read more

Nice manager, but she is totally helpless against the mob of wild feral kids who rip a wave of screeching noise throughout the whole complex. And the lazy sanctimonious parents feel it's outlined in their lease agreement that their grubby loudmouthed offspring are entitled to wreak havoc on the community. These kids aren't playing. They are crying, fighting, and yelling. There is a big difference. We used to live right next an elementary school with 350 kids, and it was half the noise of shadow Glen. I'm glad we are gone. I work nights and my downstairs apartment was nice inside, but it was also getting a soccer ball kicked up against it four or five days a week, for hours at a time. Our rent went up here almost $200 a month in 2023, so we had to relocate after living at shadow Glen for almost a year. But we were gonna move anyways because of the noisy environment. It's too bad because this is one of the more well-kept and nicely maintained apartment complexes in Ramona. What a shame. read more

Wrote my first review almost a year ago, and things at Shadow Glen have actually much worse. Now the screaming kids and absent adults have somehow multiplied by a dozen. Several horrible parent's unsupervised children have now started damaging the laundry room, leaving graffiti on the staircases, leaving bikes and scooters all over the grounds. It goes on & on. Last month a few boys decided to open the water faucet outside an apartment & let it flood the entire parking lot. The very next day they tried again, so the parents obviously did nothing. Every responsible adult resident I've spoken to here, is held hostage by a certain group of totally irresponsible parents that 1000% refuse to actually watch their kids. It's disgraceful. You can't even open your bedroom window without the wave of screams and yells that coming barreling in until 9:30-10:00pm on weeknights. I hate it here, but signed a lease. I just sign lease 3 week ago, and I am promised a "safe secure" community. That's hilarious since my wife car already damaged by bike or scooter. Unfortunately manager fired week after I moved in so now no one returning claim about damaged to her car. I must say these biker children very way out of control. I have lived in many many apartments, but never lived where kids allowed to just do whatever want no mom no dads. What's up with trat. How come nobody done nothing about it? I find also too mush trash on our staircases. Also, the supposed exit-gate been locked shut & out of order since day we move in-but the walk in gate stuck open. This to me don't make no sense man. This place seriously messed up & that's a bad news because it has good potentials. I hope gets better with new manager soon, coz I still got a year left on lease. read more

Noise. Noise. And more noise. Exceptionally loud (& rude) kids are the main problem at shadow glen. From 2:30pm when they get home from school until 8:30 at night. And always totally unsupervised on any level. I'll just call out the parents: apts 180, 184, 109, 101, all allow their kids to run wild, and completely adult free. It's impossible to get the manager to do ANYTHING about it. Also, if say anything to these particular children (like I did politely), then you can expect a visit from their OUTRAGED parents accusing you of harassing their little monsters. Suddenly these parent s are VERY concerned about the "well being" of the same kids they let go haywire (all by themselves) EVERY f-ing day, hours at a time. Wow. That's amazing parenting. read more

When you sign a lease Shadow Glen is obligated by California law to provide a safe community for their renters, but it has turned into nothing more than a terribly run day care center for kids with absent parents. You know the ones, who bank on the "system" to support their irresponsibility and neglect. Sick of hearing welfare kids fight and scream for hours and hours with each other. It's these people who have no self awareness or conscience of any type. It's clear these poor children need special care, but instead the mom & dad (they know who they are) just launch them out into the community. Then they curse the community for judging them unfairly. Extremely loud kids riding scooters, bicycles and e-bikes all around common areas. Absolutely no parental responsibility or guidance for children in this complex, who leave their sticky trash in every corner of the property, and it is getting worse every month. Lots of dogs and pet waste left everywhere, too. Maintenance team is understaffed or overwhelmed because they only clean up the grounds when the upper Whittington management is coming to inspect. Otherwise, Shadow Glen feels like Tijuana. read more

WARNING: DO NOT RENT HERE! The current manager is psychotic! She screams at residents and their guests and stalks them around the complex that she doesn't like. She has been known to discuss residents personal information with other tenants. This manager is in serious violation of dozens of California rental rights and other basic civil rights.
