I told her I was just looking for some costume makeup, maybe some wigs and a bit of spirit gum, hoping for quality supplies. But when I said I wanted to browse, she shot back with all the warmth of a DMV clerk, "We only rent costumes." Her attitude was so off-putting that we turned around and left before the interrogation could continue. As we drove past the store afterward, we saw her turning away more would-be customers, apparently gatekeeping is her full-time gig.
