They estimated it would take one to two months. I ultimately received it after chasing them around for FOUR MONTHS of zero demonstrated progress and vague or nonexistent communication (when they did answer my messages, it was a dismissive response from a legal assistant that consisted of mostly copy/pasted information from my onboarding message). Despite seeing red flags immediately, I chose to remain patient two months past their self-imposed deadline. Once I'd finally had it, I made it clear I was about to fire them and was considering a State Bar complaint unless I saw concrete progress. The implicit legal threats got them working and i should have gone this route much earlier. They then sent me the document I paid for in about two days. It ended up being nothing more than a template with details cut and pasted according to the particular case. About 50% of this template was general information that I could have found online (most of which wasn't relevant to my case), 30% repetition of the facts that I provided, plugged verbatim into the template, 10% ads for unnecessary and overpriced legal services ($1700 for a "DOJ Update," which involves - drumroll - mailing a letter. How sleazy is that?), and maybe 10% relevant analysis. Seeing the final product all but confirmed my suspicions that they probably neglected my case for four months and threw something together at the last minute, because it strains credulity that a document like this could take longer than a week, let alone four months. All I can say is, thank god I didn't hire this firm for any truly important legal work - that would most likely have been a DISASTER. If you're choosing between Lifeback Legal (or Randall and Johnson, the parent firm) and any alternative, go with "any alternative." UPDATE: I received a full refund from Lifeback Legal. I appreciate them doing the right thing in this regard.
