R.J. Dreiling: Treasure to the public and the legal profession
By writing this review of attorney R.J. Dreiling, I hope that I can perform a public service by bringing to the public's attention a potentially life-altering legal resource, R.J. Dreiling.
Through various avenues, I have consulted and worked with dozens of attorneys. However, until this month, I had never worked with a criminal law attorney. Thankfully, I met Mr. Dreiling, former prosecutor for Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office and current criminal law defense attorney, at a critical point in my life--a point at which I was facing the loss of my job, career, professional license (and thus the ability to help clients in my profession), home, ability to support my family, my reputation, and possibly my freedom. I lost much sleep worrying that innocence would not be enough to bring the truth to light and resolve the matter.
I have had mixed results with attorneys--some wasted a huge amount of time and money and were even extremely unsupportive; others expertly examined cases and supported clients at a reasonable speed and expense. Of the dozens I have consulted, Mr. Dreiling stands out as a superb attorney. Over the conversations I have had with Mr. Dreiling, my initially very favorable impression has only grown. Here's why:
Knowledge and experience: Mr. Dreiling is knowledgeable and experienced. In our conversations, he has clearly, quickly, and respectfully educated me on areas of law relevant to my situation.
Client focus (listening) and humility: He listens and enquires about not only facts but also goals, opinions, and feelings to get to know the case and the client. He invites questions but, unlike some attorneys, does not consume much of a (prospective) client's valuable time boasting about his accolades and positive attributes, although Mr. Dreiling has many.
Integrity (honesty): He is realistic. He does not guarantee the best outcome but also does not goad prospective clients into immediately retaining him or other counsel with fearmongering. He presents reality in as soothing a way as possible. Although I was momentarily alarmed when I heard about the worst possible outcome of my situation, he quickly helped me look at the 'big picture' (the range of possible outcomes and their effects on my life), making me realize that the worst outcome was not as severe and nearly as probably as I had imagined.
Communication: He is communicative. Some attorneys take a very long time (sometimes many weeks) to respond to prospective clients or clients, leaving clients languishing and worried about meeting imminent deadlines, but he quickly responds to people, often within a couple of hours.
Generosity: He is generous. He saved me thousands of dollars before I even offered him a retainer by
(1) Helping me determine whether to retain (another) attorney, who had told me, after a brief phone conversation, that I should immediately retain him (the other attorney) for a very high flat fee.
(2) Helping me determine, based on financial situation, goals, and the likelihood of various outcomes, both the benefits and drawbacks of retaining counsel at the pre-filing stage.
(3) Talking to me twice over the phone and once over Zoom (for half an hour)--at NO charge.
(4) To allay my fears, offering to represent me at the pre-filing stage and, after hearing about my financial situation, offering me a very reasonable pre-filing retainer.
Focus on excellent service: He does not 'fish' for positive press through constant, aggressive advertising--he instead receives well-deserved positive press through his work on behalf of people.
I am eternally grateful to Mr. Dreiling for his service on my behalf. Although my case has been closed with a positive outcome, one better than I could have imagined, I am keeping Mr. Dreiling's contact information to help anyone I know who might someday need the services of a criminal law attorney. read more
