My friend of many years...his mother passed the other day and I can not make it to the funeral home…read moretonight, tomorrow nor the the funeral on Friday. Sidenote::::the past few days I have had an issue with a national company...they actually called me this morning to tell me they can not find anyone to deliver to the funeral home. Really?!?! The day of the viewing you call me. Anyway after calling another local florist who said no...I called here and got Mr. Emery Mullins (hope I didn't misspell/mishear his name) and he is truly an angel. I explained I'm calling from Vegas and told him my good friends mother is at _____ funeral home and my husband and I want to place a delivery. Well he said "I know the family and actually just delivered her casket spread." My heart burst and I became teary, getting choked up he heard that. Then he assured that I not worry and that he will make a complimentary to that/stand arraignment in her favorite colors (of which he already knew). He also complimented the family and said that I must be "a great friend". He took care of my issue. An issue that should not have been a big deal. This experience truly blew me away. In a world of the unsympathetic and dealing with the life fact of the departed...Mr. Mullins truly knows the art of sympathy. He spoke to me like family. I really appreciate that. The moral of the story.......always buy local. My own mother always tells me to call the local florist, I usually do....but I ALWAYS will now. I plan this weekend to sit down and to handwrite him a thank you note, he really made my day.

I would encourage everyone local to visit when they place their order because Janie is a true treasure. I have no clue about flowers and hate ordering from stock photos online. The best florists are often able to achieve much more spectacular results when you allow them to draw inspiration. She really listened as I explained the things I liked from certain photos and some of my Dad's favorite flowers. The best part was she actually pulled willow from her own backyard to incorporate into the arrangement. I could not have been more happy at how she captured the elements and details. The final product far exceeded my expectation. We also received a beautiful basket from her shop. If you are looking for someone to replace your traditional Humphreys, Jewels, or Abingdon Florist orders this is the woman you need to call. It was supposed to come with sunflowers and yellow roses. I got 3 gerber daisies and some smaller yellow daisies with green button daisies with some filler. Something I could buy at the grocery store floral department for $35.00 tops. This was a cheap, smaller knock off. I contacted 1-800 flowers and tomorrow I will be going in to the florist. I don't think they realize I live 15 minutes from them. Needless to say, trying to support this small business was a failure and next time I will just have then delivered FedEx. Pitiful!
