I remember the store from a few years ago but they have definitely expanded their tastes. "Lauren" which was the gal working was very pleasant and sweet. She asked me a few times if I needed help finding anything I said noooo I have found everything I need. It was such a pleasant trip walking thru the store. I was walking around Peoria Heights and looking through each store. There is a huge sale going on because they will, unfortunately, be closing at the end of June. The volunteer greeted me, introduced me to their selections, and was very friendly when I took a long time to browse every knick-knack. They have cards, kitchen items, holiday items, instruments, bags, clothes, jewelry, books, magnets, bumper car sticks, stickers, wind chimes, finger puppets, coffees, teas, chocolates and more. Big window at one end to…read morelight the space, which makes me and my little windowless dungeon of a yarn shop jealous. :( Very cool homemade fixtures, and a wide selection of yarn from the brands everyone carries to brands I've never seen to indie dyers both local and not. Owner was friendly and told me about the more unfamiliar yarns while I browsed. Assuming their hours are compatible, I just might stop there again on my way back east tomorrow.

We chatted with the owner for a bit and she's even getting classes started for newbies, like me, to get the hang of this craft thing. Having a career in the field of guest service really shows me how bad businesses are failing at the…read moremost basic of things. One of the most basic things is guest service - the beginning interaction, the overall continued guest service while they're in your shop and the lasting impression that will be the deciding factor if someone will come back or not. I brought my family in and on a slower evening, mind you there were only (2) tables with (2) ppl at each table already painting their pottery. We walk in and the two girls at the register didn't bother to make eye contact, greet us, get up off their bums and ask us how our evening was... let alone helping us get started. They were more concerned about their personal conversation than working for the money the owners are paying them. Then basically they had to pry themselves out of their seats to get us paint... still no smiles, advice or anything. While we were painting they stopped at NO tables to ask if We needed anything or had questions. They just continued their personal conversations. Correct me if I'm wrong but they're there for the guests, not themselves. I can only hope they're better than that otherwise ownership really needs to take a closer look at who they let run their business. This is the first time and last time we will come back after spending almost $200 that night. It has a lot of potential to be a fun place to come and hangout but with employees like that, it was a turnoff immediately. I would've immediately turned around and walked out if it wasn't for me coming into town for a week to specifically spend time with my family while I was in town for a short time. But I was embarrassed I brought them there and we were treated or should I say ignored almost the entire Time we were there. When they wrapped up our session, again there was no smiling, zero personality and no cause to want to come back and spend more money. Debating if 2 stars is too much. Disappointing...

Looks like they are keeping pricing competitive with online stores on your big items. I will be back.
