They had a $1 cart outside when approaching the store and I perused the books and purchased one of those and also a used fiction book. My husband also bought a used Tai Chi book that he found. They had a selection of new books displayed on the wall and some seating to look through the books. Then there were two shelves pushed back to back with used books. They had non-fiction, fiction, self help, health, philosophy, religion, autobiographical books, travel type, and political type books. They had some t-shirts/stickers in the window area and some collector books in a back corner with a small book case I'd used youth books. Their prices on the uses ranged from $2, $4, $6. There were some that were not priced in the inner cover. I love bookstores and especially with used books because I won't buy a new book since I am patient and can wait until I can find it used and cheaper. A nice book store but a smaller collection of books.

I was wondering around on a Saturday evening and found this local gem. What an incredible place…read more Enchanting. I immediately felt at home exploring the 3 floors. The books cover every subject. Some were probably harder to find. I happened upon a hardback about Eleanor Roosevelt and the years she spent alone after FDR's death. I also found a copy of an old magazine which explored all sorts of Tibetan culture. I purchased both. The book on Eleanor was found in the basement which is a bit of a labyrinth. I got tickled because I was entranced by the books so much that I nearly tripped several times on the very uneven floor. And it's painted all the same color so you can't see the weird level changes well but I was weirdly not even upset about it because it added some intrigue to the mystery of searching the shelves in the basement. Even on a nearly 100 degree day, it was chilly down there. Cool! Upstairs on the 3rd floor where it was toasty, I found the magazine. There were some cool lounge areas up there too. Record albums and a music section. I was mesmerized. I believe there were a couple of people putting out books but I'm not sure. I never asked anyone for help because I wasn't sure who worked there and I didn't really need any. The guy who checked me out seemed pleasant but I can't speak too much on the service except to say it was fine. I felt it was very acceptable to read through books even though they were for purchase and except on the crowded main floor, they had places for you to sit and read so it was even encouraged! I love that! The only thing I'd have liked that I did not see is a bit more merchandise that is book and reading related. They had a few Prospero Books tshirts and a tote bag but that was about it. I admit it wouldn't necessarily fit the vibe to have a section like this or maybe it could if done in a nonchalant way. The messages from customers written on the walls and shelves throughout the store along with photos were absolutely perfect! There were some photos that showed the basement before it became the magical place it is right now. Reading the messages and seeing the photos let me know I was in the realm of my people. All the books and magazines I saw were reasonably priced. I spent less than $15 on my large hardback and magazine. I didn't have nearly enough time to explore. I hope to go back!! You should definitely go and support a local bookstore treasure!!! I'm so thrilled they are here! We need more like them! And they carried ALL types of books. There is no censorship. They feature local art on the back wall - we went to a "meet the artist" event one evening (Hubbard Savage is the local artist featured - he's super talented!). There were also some musicians who played and also did some spoken word type of stuff, both of which were delightful! They have a little seating area that's comfy if you wanna sit and flip through a stack of books when you're trying to decide which to get. I will definitely be back - this place is amazing. This is a hidden gem that is staffed by volunteers only on weekends and I believe Tuesday evenings. They are welcoming and friendly and very helpful. We were greeted at the door and handed a price list and shown to where the various genres or items were located. They have a nice children's book room with a table for children to sit and read at and a wide variety of age levels of books for very reasonable prices. They also have a good selection of all types of books and I even saw the woman in front of us purchasing puzzles. They have media and music as well for sale. The address listed on this post is different than the one in the magazine, so I will post a photo of that. I think the address in the review is right next-door where they might store books. I will definitely be going back and we bought a good size box worth of books!

They generally sell for $1.00 soft bound and $2.00 hard bound. I can't imagine finding books at these prices anywhere else. Plus the money earned goes to supporting the library. Win/win for everyone! The Johnson County Kansas Friends just moved into a much larger space. They have puzzles and an extra large sections for children's books. I especially like the antique books. I always leave with a full bag. If you are clearing out your shelves, also consider donating.

They don't have a huge selection of books or a huge coffee menu, but they have plenty for browsing and enjoying. Can't say I found a price on a lot of the books, so I'm not sure how affordable it is, but you're supporting a small business! They are focusing on putting on more community events and workshops in the coming year. I went to a great (free!) poetry and perfume workshop that was tons of fun. There was parking right out front that was available. The store is in a brick building and it is spacious. There were two cats to greet us. The woman who owns the bookstore was nice and helpful. There is a variety of books of different genres. I would say mostly progressive selection, but there were also some classics. There was a variety of items from local vendors that were for sale. For example: dried tea in canisters, roll on handmade perfumes, and some other items. There was a variety of seating throughout for checking out the books. I felt like some of the prices were a bit high. They have some new books and mostly used. It looks like. I ended up finding a book that I believe was eight dollars for used and my husband also got a book. I do think that some of the bookshelves need to be just a bit sturdier on some of the shelving. The owner mentioned they may start having a coffee cart available as well.
