Many of those titles are recent or very popular, and if you bring in books for trade, then you get a 15% in-store credit - win! The north wall has a display with recommended reading from Ink & Page employees. I mean, wouldn't we ask if anyone knew whether a story/author was worth our time if we knew someone who had already taken the plunge? It's better than Google Reviews! (but not Yelp) There are some comfy spots to plop down and browse your selections or just enjoy the tranquility of a good ol' bookseller's space. Pricing for new titles is list, but used titles vary and that's where Ink & Page offer extra value. Parking is old OP-ish, so you're either lucky or you're walking a bit. I was wondering around on a Saturday evening and found this local gem. What an incredible place…read more Enchanting. I immediately felt at home exploring the 3 floors. The books cover every subject. Some were probably harder to find. I happened upon a hardback about Eleanor Roosevelt and the years she spent alone after FDR's death. I also found a copy of an old magazine which explored all sorts of Tibetan culture. I purchased both. The book on Eleanor was found in the basement which is a bit of a labyrinth. I got tickled because I was entranced by the books so much that I nearly tripped several times on the very uneven floor. And it's painted all the same color so you can't see the weird level changes well but I was weirdly not even upset about it because it added some intrigue to the mystery of searching the shelves in the basement. Even on a nearly 100 degree day, it was chilly down there. Cool! Upstairs on the 3rd floor where it was toasty, I found the magazine. There were some cool lounge areas up there too. Record albums and a music section. I was mesmerized. I believe there were a couple of people putting out books but I'm not sure. I never asked anyone for help because I wasn't sure who worked there and I didn't really need any. The guy who checked me out seemed pleasant but I can't speak too much on the service except to say it was fine. I felt it was very acceptable to read through books even though they were for purchase and except on the crowded main floor, they had places for you to sit and read so it was even encouraged! I love that! The only thing I'd have liked that I did not see is a bit more merchandise that is book and reading related. They had a few Prospero Books tshirts and a tote bag but that was about it. I admit it wouldn't necessarily fit the vibe to have a section like this or maybe it could if done in a nonchalant way. The messages from customers written on the walls and shelves throughout the store along with photos were absolutely perfect! There were some photos that showed the basement before it became the magical place it is right now. Reading the messages and seeing the photos let me know I was in the realm of my people. All the books and magazines I saw were reasonably priced. I spent less than $15 on my large hardback and magazine. I didn't have nearly enough time to explore. I hope to go back!! They feature local art on the back wall - we went to a "meet the artist" event one evening (Hubbard Savage is the local artist featured - he's super talented!). There were also some musicians who played and also did some spoken word type of stuff, both of which were delightful! They have a little seating area that's comfy if you wanna sit and flip through a stack of books when you're trying to decide which to get. I will definitely be back - this place is amazing. They don't have a huge selection of books or a huge coffee menu, but they have plenty for browsing and enjoying. Can't say I found a price on a lot of the books, so I'm not sure how affordable it is, but you're supporting a small business! They are focusing on putting on more community events and workshops in the coming year. I went to a great (free!) poetry and perfume workshop that was tons of fun. Connected to Black Cat Records in the back and the Stray Cat next door. Usually a good amount of parking available on 17th and Washington.

I can't say enough good things about this shop. Easily the best coffee shop in Kansas City without…read morequestion. They have the best espresso in Kansas City. The same is true of their cold brew. Plus they make their chai in house and that's crazy good too. Their syrups are made in house, and they have a fantastic selection. House made caramel cardamom? Obviously yes. Plus they make their chocolate, white chocolate and caramel syrups. I'm not sure how they pull all of that off because it's all so good. I found some of the seasonal drinks lean toward the sweeter side if that's what you're looking for. Then there's the food. Which in any other shop would have started off my review (their drinks really are good enough to start with). They managed to put a full bakery into their tiny kitchen and make fresh focaccia every day and then use that for a handful or unique panini sandwiches. They literally have an overnight baker baking bread so they're not in the way of the baristas. Paninis sound like basic coffee shop fare, but the bread is so good. I wish you could order just the focaccia bread. The fig & prosciutto panini is the star of the show. But they also make a turkey and pesto one that's so good. Oh also this spicy Italian panini that uses nduja sausage. I've never had a panini like that anywhere. They make a chicken salad on a house made croissant baked that morning. There isn't a better chicken salad in Kansas City, and the croissants are actually outstanding by themselves (which unlike the focaccia, they do make enough croissants every day for you to take one home by itself if you want to). The cinnamon rolls are a classic and they're often gone by the time I get there. Honestly it's crazy when you make the best cinnamon rolls and they're still not the best thing on the menu. They're consistently soft, rich, pull apart and delicious. You can taste real vanilla in the icing. The details really stand out. The breakfast burrito is so good but they're usually sold out when I get. They're clearly made from scratch in small batches, which is the only way anyone should do it. I didn't mind waiting ten minutes because it's quite clear they're putting care and attention into quality. Food at coffee shops usually feels like an after-thought. Baked goods that are brought in from somewhere else. Microwaved breakfast items. I wouldn't normally think much about it. But everything I've had at the book club is has tasted so intentional and delicious. It's nuts that this place is in downtown Mission and is putting out such consistently fantastic food and drinks. Last thing that stands out is the staff. Their baristas are top notch. They clearly took time to find good people even though they just opened. This is a hospitality-focused shop which is absolutely missing in a lot of shops. Good people, genuine kindness, and they're all so good at what they do. This will forever be my shop.
