The only negative experience I had was when I called to reschedule my third treatment because I was recovering from the flu. I called more than 24 hours in advance, but the male receptionist told me he needed to speak with his manager to see if they could waive a cancellation fee since I didn't call 48 hours in advance. I purchased a 6-session Groupon package (~$600) and have had nothing but problems at this location. Here's what happened: My May 29 appointment was delayed by SEV -- they texted me at 5:54 PM asking if I could come 10 minutes later. I couldn't, so they rescheduled me to May 30 at 10:55 AM. On May 30, I received a cancellation text at 10:58 AM, within the same minute that I was texted and asked by the SEV team if I was nearby, which I was as I was parking (due to the stop and go traffic directly in front of the SEV location) and communicated that -- fewer than 5 minutes after my appointment time, which is within SEV's own published 5-minute grace period. I was still turned away when I arrived. When I tried to show the front desk staff the timestamped texts proving SEV had asked ME to accommodate a delay the day before, a staff member named Lyana interjected herself into a conversation she wasn't part of, spoke on behalf of her colleague without being asked, and refused to look at my documentation -- saying "I don't need to see the texts, I already know what they say." Dismissive, confrontational, and completely unprofessional. I filed a formal complaint. The Illinois Area Manager, Tiffany Morrisett, responded and defended everything -- Lyana's behavior, the premature cancellation, even the $9 parking fee I incurred for an appointment I was denied. I've been coming here since the pandemic for under arm laser hair removal. So far I've had about eight sessions and haven't had to shave unless it's right before my appt (per instructions). I love how this alternative way of hair removal has lightened my underarms (as opposed to shaving) and given me the confidence to raise my arms without feeling embarrassed. SEV LASER Horrible Experience - Burned Skin & No Accountability I have been getting full-body laser hair removal since 2017 at several clinics across the country and never had a problem. I signed up for a package at SEV Laser San Francisco and after just my second or third session (on September 14), I had the worst experience I've ever had. Immediately after the treatment, I noticed bumps all over my face and body. The technician brushed it off as "normal" and said it would vanish in a couple of days. Instead, things got far worse. I developed hives, bruises from the laser, and darkened patches of skin--even in private areas. My dermatologist reviewed the photos and said the treatment was done with poor precision or disruptive settings. The nurse who treated me even told me she was using a higher setting this time compared to my last session. Yet, when I contacted management with photos, Lauren flatly denied this in her email and claimed the settings "were not higher than last time." That made it clear she hadn't even looked into my case or reviewed what actually happened. Since then, I've been on steroids, had IV infusions, and have been bedridden for over a week. This has affected my ability to work and cost me hundreds of dollars in medical care just to recover. Lauren's responses were extremely dismissive--blaming me by suggesting things like "dry shaving" and downplaying my injuries as "normal." After I explained that I've been doing laser since 2017, corrected her assumptions, and sent more photos, she simply stopped replying. This clinic is careless and takes no accountability for the harm they cause customers. Their management minimizes serious burns and skin damage and treats it as if it's no big deal. 2h before my appointment for four sessions, I got a text message saying they had to cancel due to an emergency and asking for my availability. Given that I had already gone through the lengthy shaving process, I asked for an appointment the next day and I would move my other commitments around. There was no response for 2 days. When I followed up, the response was a single line: "tomorrow 1:45pm?". No options, no asking what works for me, just assuming that I can drop work and come by at their convenience. I proposed a few other times and got another one-line response saying that those wouldn't work. Absolutely no effort on their end to right their wrong or work with me on getting my sessions rescheduled. This is the same place that charges 50% of the price if the customer cancels with less than 48 hours' notice. Yet, they will cancel 2h before a session and proceed to ignore the customer. Reading other reviews, I can see that they have these "emergencies" and cancel appointments quite frequently, often for discounted packages. Zero stars would be more accurate, but the minimum is one. read more

The procedure was whatever. It's a coin toss if you get someone more indifferent or detail-oriented. That was to be expected but the part that was a surprise was as seeing a tip box and Venmo QR codes. Then to walk out and asked AGAIN if I wanted to leave a tip. To my understanding the people performing the laser treatment are nurses, that's what I've been told. If they are nurses then it is a violation of the Code of Ethics and Rules of Nursing practice to take gifts or tips from patients. If they are aestheticians I wish it was made clear and not be referred to as nurses. I was under the impression that my procedure would be performed by a nurse. I rather be charged more for a procedure (that I thought would be done by a nurse) than to be asked if I wanted to leave a tip. read more

The treatment itself is good, and the nurses are knowledgeable. However, the front desk staff needs better training, especially when it comes to scheduling and communication. I was told I needed to answer a call from the NP to approve my treatment, even though this was not my first time receiving this treatment. I repeatedly explained this to Vianna at the front desk, but she did not listen and insisted the call was necessary. What made this more frustrating is that the NP called without any prior notice. Clients should not be expected to answer calls at any time at the clinic's convenience. If a call is required, there should be a scheduled date and time. Missing the call resulted in my treatment needing to be rescheduled, which I find very unreasonable. Additionally, the NP, Jennifer, was rude during the call, and overall the call felt unnecessary since it was not my first treatment. This situation was caused by a front desk mistake that I tried to correct multiple times but was ignored. Been coming here for some time. It's a hit or miss with the nurses. Some are really good and detailed while others not so much and you're out in one minute. As a result-I see spotty results and can tell exactly how effective and diligent my nurse was. They dont do complimentary touchups and will push to buy additional sessions. The receptionist will never tell you how many sessions you have left on your package or anything like that and then surprise surprise! you get hit with a bill. Mixed feelings about this place/operation. I feel like I wasted maybe 3-4 sessions on not so diligent nurses and not have to pay extra to get additional packages. Rebecca has been my technician each time, and she's fantastic--thorough, communicative, and always ensures the laser settings are effective but not too painful. I've had great results and appreciate that the staff is all-female, so you work with just one person the whole session (my old med spa had a male do my legs then a female do the more sensitive areas - which felt weird to switch between 2 people for one session. I found out about this place through Groupon. If you purchase a laser hair removal voucher through Groupon, make sure to set up an appointment within 60 days. I forgot to do this and it was difficult to get the expired voucher refunded in order to purchase a new one. Also, the consultation was included with the voucher. Scheduling over the phone was easy. Then they'll send you all the patient documents, pre- and post-care info, and consent forms via email. They expect you to fill this out before your appointment. A nurse also texted me to jump on a one-time FaceTime/video call for a quick pre-session consultation. This is mandatory, otherwise they'll cancel your appointment. She quickly ran through some health-related questions. It took only a couple minutes. I've had two sessions and it's been great so far. They text me appointment reminders. Make sure to confirm each appointment via email or text. I think there's a form you need to sign via email before each session, so look out for that. They also send occasional promotions via email. They have specials around the holidays. The office is conveniently located on Market St. where there's easy access to Muni/public transportation. Unfortunately, no parking out front so you'd have to find meter parking on the parallel/cross streets. Nice chic, modern clinic. The front desk staff are pretty nice. The nurses I've had were exceptional (shout-out to Vivian!). They have numerous nurses working here, so it's likely you'll see someone different each time. In my experience, they've been warm, welcoming, and professional. They make small talk to help you feel comfortable. They do a good job of informing you of what to expect (if you're new), after care, and welcome any questions. So far I've had pretty good laser results after just 2 out of 6 appointments. But they work so quickly so I am concerned the results won't be thorough. At a different clinic I've been to, they really took their time to get every last follicle. I plan on pointing out areas that had more growth to the nurse next time. FYI, they up the strength of the laser with each visit. I purchased a six session package. I am four sessions in, so far half of these sessions were cancelled either day of or the day prior. They also consistently go too low on the settings and are not thorough enough when lasering. I'm frustrated because I feel as though I have wasted the sessions I have gone through. I am a believer in laser hair removal therapy, so I will go somewhere else in the future. If I had it to do over again I would not have purchased the group because while it is cheap, they do not thoroughly scan you skin enough at high enough settings so you end up having to purchase multiple packages to get your desired results. I got laser hair removal done almost 20 years ago when it was more painful and downtime was longer, but no hair ever grew back in all these years. I was expecting after 5 sessions that the hair would be almost completely gone (especially since I didn't have much to begin with). But it seems like it wasn't as effective as when I had it done many years ago. I was told the settings used on me were pretty high since I have a good pain tolerance to lasers. First 2 sessions were great until the 3rd session when the technician gave me 2nd degree burn with the 'test' laser at the very beginning of the session. I told her it's too much and she went back to my previous setting. There was no acknowledgment from the technician until I asked her what happened here because I could feel the burn. She never even gave any aftercare with clearly seeing she made the mistake. It hurt for a good few days and now I'm left with the scars. The area leads were nice enough to show remorse but this experience really left me with a bad taste and I stopped going to them. Came here for my first laser appointment today to do my underarms and Brazilian. The appointments were pretty booked so I had to get scheduled about 5 weeks out. The lady who did it for me was very kind and walked me through the whole process as this was my first time. She answered all the questions I had too. The whole thing took about 10minutes and she gave me aloe after to cool off. To book my next appointment I was told that they were booked 7weeks out, but was recommended if I wanted to try a sooner appointment to call the day before and see if there's any cancellations. I originally came because I got a Groupon for 6 sessions and the obsession is real! I wasn't really sure what kind of results I would get and how fast but so far I'm loving the results. I use to think waxing was the way to go, but lasering is a game changer. When you walk in it's aesthetically pleasing and usually the nurses are super quick with lasering. I'm in and out within 5-10 mins . I've gone at least 9 sessions and I'm seeing really great results and hair growth has slowed down a lot. It's pretty painless even when they do go up on the settings but it's nice that they always ask if you feel it before proceeding. Definitely going to keep coming back here for upkeep. The rooms are always clean and hygienic and they make sure to use the best practices in keeping you safe and healthy. All the staff is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable. They also have a great deal where you can buy 5 sessions and get the 6th for free so that makes laser a little more affordable. I did find that Sev's prices are really great compared to other places I looked into. It's been one whole year since I first went to SEV for my very first laser hair removal experience and I have two things to update on: 1) results and 2) prices. Results were great! After 6 sessions, I was hairless for 6 solid months. Not having to deal with razor burn and ingrown hairs, shaving every other day, or paying for regular waxing drastically increased my quality of life for sure. After 6 months my hair started growing again, albeit much thinner, slower, and in smaller patches. Needing periodic touch-ups is expected with laser hair removal until a permanent result is reached, so I didn't see this as a problem. Prices have risen since last year by $10-20 dollars, depending on the size of the area you order. It's also gotten a lot more crowded, so appointments are scheduled farther out in advance. They make up for this by allowing you to schedule up to two follow-up appointments right away. SEV has grown a lot since I first discovered it. They used to have one nurse doing all the appointments, and now they have a rotation of nurses and shifts. They also expanded into other locations in the Bay Area. Prices have risen and wait times for appointments has increased a lot. Despite this, I still think SEV is the most "worth it" salon for laser hair removal, especially if you get the Groupon. Unfortunately they only allow 1 Groupon redemption per person, but their a la carte prices are not the most expensive I've seen either. If you're on the fence about it... jump in! You just have to keep calling the week you want to reschedule to for any cancellations. And if you get groupon or the package deal, you can only use it at that location.
