After some discussion, one member of the staff went in search of a scrap plank or two, while his colleague provided us the name and number for a contractor who does hardwood repairs. The scrap search was successful, but the better news is that they would not take payment for the 4 or 5 feet of boards. For this reason, we will visit Moore Floors first when we need any more flooring needs. They are beyond nice and helpful and turned our difficult situation into a great experience.

The area of concern there is that we no longer hold Danny in as high regard as we once did. Initially, they and Aberdeen Carpenters' sub-contractors did a good job other than the carpeting area in our home entertainment area. It wasn't terrible, but it did need to be tightened up after only a couple years. We went back to them after ten years for new carpets for our living room and master bedroom. Now we have experienced a situation that makes us pause about how good a company Aberdeen Carpet really is. Both rugs we purchased as new rugs have had to be returned to have the binding repaired after we brought them home. We are talking about days and maybe a week for both after bringing them home before noticing the problem. We did have a positive experience with their taking our two rugs back with the exception that both times we were told "this never happens". They didn't give us any problem about returning them for repair. We're not sure yet what the final outcome will be, but overall they only deserve three stars.

I can't even get a floor walker at Lowes to find the correct nut&bolt from all the drawers, or do more than read a lable on something in front of me. Long story short, because they made mistakes that cost them (we would only pay what we were initially quoted), the owner really didn't appear to care about the quality of work but just wanted to get us out of his hair. A second installer was sent to finish the job (first installer wouldn't come back after he screwed the floor up in spots and left a pile of subfloor in the driveway). The second installer was pleasant and tried his best to correct the mistakes the first guy made. A few things couldn't be corrected without taking out more floor that would have been a big job. I have spoken to two other people who have had similar stories, so beware.

After 2 months of trying to get a straight answer and resolution from the original contractor, I decided to look elsewhere. I found J & C Flooring on Yelp, a local family-owned business. The experience with J&C was quite the opposite: excellent communication, fast response for quote, competitive pricing, very knowledgeable, and the floor was repaired quickly and correctly.
