Our feelings then was: they need money for better and more lifts and restaurants. Now at least 10-15 years later I still have that feeling. On all levels the can learn from other (Italian) skiing areas. In the way you prepar your slopes and you maintain them during the day. In the way you use artificial snow. In the choice of lifts. All chairlifts without protection from the elements (roofs?) and very slow. On the Italian side you'll find more and cheaper restaurants but older and slower lifts. On the french side it's just opposite. The're enough slopes for a variety of tours. Unfortunatly we weren't able to use them to the full extent because of very, very bad weather conditions. Álmost no snow in that week of January 2016. Most skiërs are from nearby Torino and are only skiing in the weekends. Most other tourists are from the UK. The prices for a pas are very, very reasonable. But be aware of what your buying. Not all passes give acces to the international skiing area. Most of them just one day out of 6-7. If I could offer one advice: go on a training to Dolomiti Superski. The're is so much more possible with this beautiful area.

Considered one of the 'snow-sure' resorts, Val d'Isere is more likely to have decent snow coverage than most. It has a variety of terrain to suit all abilities, a lovely town, modern lifts and is pretty easy to get to from Bourg St Maurice. You can't really go wrong with Val d'Isere!

My sister and I skied in Alpe d'Huez many years ago and we were very pleased to return there with…read moreski friends this year Marketed as the Island in the Sun due to its south-facing aspect, my vivid tan confirms that when the sun comes out, you will be enjoying warm sunshine. However, later in the season, it can get slushy on the lower runs in the afternoon Alpe d'Huez's main asset are its slopes. There's enough to keep to keep the vast majority of skiers of all abilities occupied for a week. The slopes are well laid out with a wealth of green slopes at the base of the main village bowl, allowing beginners to get their confidence up in those early ski weeks near to home. However, for those who fancy more of a challenge, there's the formidable Tunnel run. Yes, you ski through a long tunnel to emerge onto a ledge with a vertigo-inducing drop on one side encouraging you to make the turn before you drop off the side of the mountain! The other famous run in resort is the Sarenne, which is the longest run in the world at 16km. It's marked as a black run on the piste map but you can miss out the steepest part of the run at the beginning and the rest of the run is really mo more than a red run by gradient One other feature in the resort is the chairlift taking skiers over from the main Alpe d'Huez ski area over to the Auris ski area. Nicknamed the Scare Chair by locals, it leads under a concrete tunnel which takes you under the main runway for the airport before diving over a precipitous edge into the Sarenne Gorge before climbing up the other side. With runs leading to satellite villages like Montfrais (powder runs galore), Oz (no sign of the wizard!), Vaujany and the original town of Huez, you can put the travel miles in too We found some fun snow parks and boarder cross courses to have fun in The village is especially well equipped with off-slope activities. There's an outdoor swimming pool, an ice sakting rink (which turns into an ice go karting track on some evenings), a sports centre with indoor swimming pool, a tobaggan slope and an ice driving circuit. There's also night skiing on Thursday evenings when the Signal slopes are floodlit and stay open late The prices at the mountain restaurants were reasonable and we found some nice food on the slopes This is a fantastic resort, which I can highly recommend

You can get to the highest point in the French Alps at this resort and ski to neighboring resorts as well. This is without a doubt my favorite place. There is something for everyone. The only negative I can think of is snow. If the season is not so great, your skiing here will be horrible. I experienced good and bad here, and when it's bad, it's really bad. You'll spend the entire time dodging patches of grass, rocks, and gravel. My skis unfortunately got pretty damaged :(

Great place! The slopes are awesome and there is every skill level you could want. Well maybe not…read moreso much in the way of glades but that is what you get when you are this high up in the mountains. Really nice lifts for the most part and lots of fun stuff to do. I keep dreaming that someone will one day come to France to make reasonably priced yet decent food on a ski slope...like the burgers you find in Sun Valley in the US... One day... One day... Until then, Val Thorens is as good as it gets.

There was an upstairs master bedroom with bathroom and a downstairs bedroom, a bathroom, a toilet room and then the kitchen and living room where the sofa with two beds was. Everything was basic but functional. Very well equipped kitchen! Also a dishwasher present. Lacking storage space to unpack and organize. Worst part is the horrible inconvenient wifi, it's bad and a pain as it keeps logging out. The lobby got a pool table. The spa facilities are nice however there was always only one steam room of the two on. One sauna is more hot than the other which is great. The pool is awesome. I didn't bother to use the hot tub as it was cold water however it has good jets if you got sore muscles they are great for it . Main issue is that it's very dangerous: everywhere there's tiles and the slipping risk is so high especially the sauna! After I wrote this reviews a lady fell and broke her arm in the sauna! I bet this happens often! Both the apartments as the spa don't provide much when it comes to soap. Weird and useless samples in the apartment and all dispensers were empty in the spa. The elevator was great however we could not figure out how to get to level -1 only to leave from there. Ski room has boxes with keys which is great. Best part as you can ski to the door! There's a small lift that takes you to the bigger ones. Very convenient! You get one parking spot. Parking for the rest is a disaster however there is a free parking lot if you drive out of town towards Italy. There is also a paying lot down the road. Check out is at 10am and you have to have the kitchen cleaned and all the linen and towels collected. Location is great as I personally loved that the ski area is both in France and Italy.
