I held off on getting my hair cut for a while simply because I needed to find a new salon and I…read morejust cant stand disappointment. It all comes down to 'you get what you pay for' and I was sick of paying for something I wasn't happy with. I'll be honest, when it came down to it, I chose Vanity House because their location was close, I liked the look of the salon, they laid out their pricing on their website really well and their FB photos were nice. Their Yelp reviews were decent too ;-) I made an appointment with Alicia. A co-worker of mine said she was the best at blonde. Upon arrival I waited in the front for a little bit while the receptionist took care of a customer looking to book an appointment. This wasn't a big deal as I got to scope things out a little bit and check out the wares. She apologized for the wait and had me sit in the waiting area. She took my coat and offered to make me tea, coffee or water. I opted for one of their teas available, all loose leaf with interesting infusions. I had the green tea. They made me a whole pot to myself which was really cool. I really felt comfortable. When Alicia was ready, I pretty much let her have free rein with my hair. I explained what I was growing it out, and I needed to get rid of those pesky roots. She was honest with me and said that a partial highlight was all I needed and she openly stated what the pricing would be before she started. I appreciated that! She was a really pleasant girl to talk to. I learned a lot about her and she learned a lot about me. It was a really nice experience! Some highlights (heh!): -The tea/coffee was a cherry on top, a really nice feature -The scalp massage I received...oh my lord, heaven. -I LOVE the colour of my hair. The colour is vivid and spread really well throughout. -Alicia showed me some products that would help with volume and then continued to show me how to use a round brush AND styled my hair to show how to do it at home. It was very easy and something I could do myself. In the end, the only slight negative feeling I had was coming terms with the price of the haircut and the amount of hair that was left on the floor. She did a really good job with it and it will continue to grow out in a nice way. Like I said, you get what you pay for! I got a ton of compliments on my hair too. I will definitely be visiting this salon again. I cannot wait to try some new things to my style and see what Alicia and the rest of the team at Vanity House can do!

I will also assume that you occasionally need to get it cut into a style that you like, and when you do that you want it to be in a place you like and done by a person who knows what they are doing. If any of the above is true then perhaps you should give Vanity House a try. Great downtown location, a warm and inviting place and excellent stylists. Now as a boy with short hair my opinion on stylists may not mean much to you. But my wife also gets her hair cut and coloured here, and she has discerning taste. Well that's what I tell myself anyway. Others must think the same way because it's always busy when I go. TL/DR: hair grows-needs cutting=Vanity House.

They took good…read morecare of me after I'd made quite a mess fiddling with pin curls, and tamed what was a complete mess into something rather elegant indeed. The place was well-designed, with manicures set up near the door, and a wall for privacy for people getting their hair done. The hair-washing bowls looked far more comfortable than the standard ones (being tall, I loathe scrunching down to fit in most of them), and there were private rooms to the back of the shop for spa treatments. Elena (I'm sorry if I got this wrong, I am terrible with names!) was a lot of fun to talk to, as well; it seems the art of conversation is something a lot of stylists have lost, but not her. She also gave me some good tips on how to manage my hair in future, things easily done at home. When I need a haircut or a style again, I am definitely going here.

I started going after surgery on my ankle because…read moreI was concerned for my sensitive skin and general pain I had after getting out of my cast. I had gone to another cheaper nail salon and mentioned my ankle and they just ignored it entirely. The ladies at Chic are professional and accommodating. They take a lot of care to make sure you're comfortable and they do a great job. I haven't had hair services here, I mainly have gone for the Aveda Mani/Pedis, they are AMAZING (Lindsay & Meghan are awesome!), I've done the express mani/pedi as well, also great. I've had my brows waxed and a number of elemental facials, all fantastic experiences. The only thing I would say negatively, is that when you're in the back room for a facial, you can hear a lot going on in the salon, so it's not super 'peaceful', but it's still great! I would recommend this salon and spa (and have) to all my family and friends. (I do believe they accept walk-ins, but I always book in advance) - little tip - if you're interested in a Mani/Pedi go to the "Packages" tab on the website and book a "Basics" package, it's an extra couple bucks, but you get an eyebrow wax included. **Update** I have since had my hair styled here for my brothers wedding, they did a great job! I also had my makeup done, and it was done beautifully.
