I was very excited to attend since getting an uber was fairly inexpensive and the ending time of 10pm made it an early night. The festival was 2 days, but I only attended Day 1- the headliner on this night was Sublime with Rome but other noticeable acts that day were MAGIC!, SOJA, & Stick Figure. The start time was 1pm and began with unlimited beer tastings until 4pm. We arrived at 2:45pm and had a great time with the beer tasting, each line was no longer than 5 minutes and we easily sampled over 10 beers. What I love about reggae festivals is the vibe- super friendly people and welcoming environment! It was a great day and there were also plenty of food options- we enjoyed food from Pink Taco truck and also had a slice of pizza later on from an equally bomb vendor- wish I could remember the name, it was quality NYC style thin crust pizza! It was a very hot day, but there was some shade, water towers around the food and bathroom areas with free water, lots of port-o-potties to accommodate those drinking that evening and many people even brought blankets to lounge on the grass. All in all, it was a relaxed, fun day at the park with good music, food and beer. I felt that saying there would be carnival rides was misleading as there was ONLY 1 ride- no big deal, but just FYI. The cost of the entrance was $39-$65 depending on when you purchased your ticket but since the beer tasting was included, it was definitely worth it. On top of that, the beer vendors all sold pints for $10 so it wasn't insanely expensive to buy drinks throughout the day. Last but not least, it was an "all ages" events so it was nice to know you could bring the kiddos. I saw everything from toddlers to teens enjoying the day with their family and that's good, clean fun. Would definitely come back next year!

I can now come back to this review and give it an update as I am NOW a reptile owner haha!…read more Being introduced to this hobby and owning a precious cold blooded friend now, I can say that if you own reptiles or are interested in them, live in SoCal, then this bi-yearly reptile show is a MUST. You can purchase your tickets online or in person. The most recent visit, the tickets were $16, but I heard they're increasing costs to $20, but that makes sense with everything being inflated. Parking at the Fairplex has also increased to $18, by the way... But I digress! They scan your tickets at the front and if you're feeling peckish (after washing your hands, you don't want salmonella or anything else), there's food vendors outside and inside too. It's just the standard fair food vendors. Although there are some of the same vendors that do attend each year, like Geckos Etc., the line up is mixed up too. The last last time I went, there weren't that many bearded dragons and there was an overabundance of ball python vendors. However, at the most recent show, there was a MUCH wider variety. A good number of leopard geckos and ball pythons, sure, but this show had a good number of crested gecko vendors and I was able to see uromastyx and leachie geckos that I haven't seen as often outside of specialized reptile shops. Much more beardie vendors too. We even got to see a pig, an Asian water monitor, Rankin's dragon, Sakashima Grass Lizards, and even Vampire Crabs! If reptiles aren't you're thing (why are you here? Just kidding, lol), there are also lots of plant vendors and if you're looking for an invertebrate pets, this is also a good stop too, especially if you're looking for tarantulas, beetles, or jumping spiders. There's also a good amount of vendors for enclosures and supplies, supplements, feeder insects (comparable to prices you can get on Dubia which is pretty good!), merchandise like plushies or figurines, shirts, etc. I love the artist vendors who sell their pet themed merchandise too like Cloris Creates and of course, Derptiles. It's also a great way to learn about rescues, reptile health, USARK is always there to promote advocacy, and I love the Galapagos Giant Tortoise Alliance that is there each time to show their research efforts and it's cool to see some Galapagos Tortoises there too! Now onto the lizard fixation I've had since I've gotten my bearded dragon here. Reptile supplies ARE NOT CHEAP and those who own reptiles, KNOW. After getting my beardie from Bucket List Reptiles from 2 shows ago, I only realized I should have gotten more supplies and decor at the show then defaulting to PetSmart. A $10 hide or branch that you get at the reptile show can easily be $25-40 at a pet store. I already know that I'll attend future shows not just because I like reptiles and own one, but because I gotta stock up on the decor, supplies (supplements, calcium, feeder tongues, etc.), feeders, etc. when I can!

Apparently this used to be a yearly event, but then they stopped doing it for 10 years and started it again in 2013. I couldn't go in 2013 so I decided to go this year. During a certain amount of time the tickets are sold cheaper and if you buy later the tickets go up at least $3. I bought my ticket for free during the pre-sale and paid $5 for my sister. The event is open to everyone, but you should try to go with someone who is currently attending the school. Students get a discount so when they buy its free during pre-sale and $5 for regular price. The event is for about two days. The first day is from 5 PM to 10PM (I think) where they had an ice skating rink, snow, a flipbook station (take pictures and then they make a book out of it so when you flip it fast it looks like its moving), and lots of food booths. There's the Polly Trolley and different clubs selling food. I tried the Grilled Cheese ($2 originally, but then they lowered the price the later it got) from the LGBT club (I think that's what they are called) and the Fry Bread with honey and powdered sugar (my friend bought it so I don't know what it cost). The second day they had food trucks one with free coffee, carnival rides, a petting zoo, lots of booths to play games and get free things/food and buy stuff, a Toyota booth (you can enter to win a car if over 18), and a free picture booth. You can also stuff your own Bronco horse for pig, decorate its shirt, and get a birth certificate (kind of like Build-A-Bear) for $15. The event on the second day does from I think 10AM to 9PM and then again from 9PM to 6AM. The 9PM to 6AM is for The Stay Up Till Dawn event which I believe is for charity. I didn't go, but if you did then I believe the Games room was free or you pay a small fee to play unlimited until the event ends. It was loads of fun and I recommend to everyone.

This event was held on January 11-12-13, 2013, so a Friday, Saturday and Sunday…read more It was touted as a Sports Collector's Expo To it's credit, it featured some big Hall of Fame sports names like Tony Gwynn, as well as local Dodgers, current players like Matt Kemp, as well as retired ones. Of course, it's a business, so these athletes charge for their autographs, but it's an organized system and a much better option for die-hard fans to acquire an authentic autograph that's guaranteed both to be real (as opposed to rolling the dice buying on sites like eBay where a majority are forgeries and you never know what you're looking at) as well as trying to hunt down these stars at the stadiums, hotels or randomly for an autograph not knowing if they'd agree or not. This ensures you get a clean carefully signed autograph, not a quick sloppy signature. The show itself from a collector's standpoint seemed somewhat one dimensional compared to most sports card shows. I'll say this, 'tho, there are very few sports card conventions now-a-days since the internet, both online dealers and independent sellers on eBay have forced both, many retail stores, as well as a lot of conventions into near extinct status. This was a good show if you collected vintage sports cards, mainly football and baseball from the 1970's and before. What this show lacked was dealers who sold: 1) Unopened Wax Boxes and Packs - both new and old material, but especially new current stuff that's hot that everyone wants to buy and open 2) Modern Day Cards of Current Players 3) Non-Sports Cards or brother hobby categories like comics, coins, toys, action figures (Starting Line Up or McFarlane) Sports) or other collectibles often found as crossover collectibles that are found at shows like this. There were a few dealers who sold a few new cards, but for the most part, this was not just "your father's" convention, but more, if you're a teenage kid today, more like "your grandfather's convention" unfortunately. Currently, there's a show called "Frank and Sons" in the City of Industry that is a weekly swap meet formatted marketplace whose dealers that vend there would have been perfect for this show. Missing were dealers who offer those bargain boxes filled with jersey and autograph cards as well as set-builder commons and star, semi-star and hot rookie cards. There was no energy to this show, and in fact on Sunday a lot of dealers packed up early or didn't show up, so it was an even more lackluster event. A word of advice to the organizer, you should build in your contract that all dealers have to stay for the duration of the entire show, since it looks bad when dealers leave, and those who pay admission feel a bit deflated. The cost of admission was $10 a day, not too bad if you knew what you were walking into. However, if you didn't like, want or need vintage cards, then it would take you all but 10 minutes to walk around and find out you just wasted $20... since it also costs $10 to park at the Mariott Hotel, doubling your overhead expenses (on top of gas for travel). I think this could be a great show, they just need to reach out to a greater more diverse range of dealers to exhibit and sell, which would build them a reputation and draw in a bigger crowd as well as possibly a younger crowd too that can continue supporting this show for years to come. I'd recommend changing venues to a location that does not charge for parking if at all possible or figure out a deal to get parking waived and complimentary. The $10 each attendee paid for parking could easily go into the commerce of the show, with customers spending that cash with your dealers on top of whatever else they buy. The publicity for this show was a bit lackluster, and the saving grace I hear was that Beckett Grading Services was in attendance, so they promoted the show and put the word out. The website is one of the worst I've ever seen in my life, so that needs to be updated, and using eventbrite to sell tickets and take a visitor away from your site is a bit amateur, I'd say invest in selling tickets direct to consumer, then you don't have to incur fees and maximize your profit revenue to reinvest into the show. I think this show has good potential to become a great show to service a need that's been missing in So Cal.

There was games like obstacle courses, rock climbing, basketball, football, soccer, and others. There was free food too! The Poly Trolley was sampling there new editions Kale Salad, Medittereian Sandwich, and Brown Rice with Vegetables. All amazing! They also had free Jamba Juice, but they sold out in like ten minutes. I got one of the last ones. They had raffles and Zumba. The event was from 4PM to 11PM.

OMG! My favorite…read moreevent I've been to this year! I only went to day one but I totally regretted not going to day two. The line up was absolutely sickening (the good way). Zhu and Gesaffelstein blew my mind! However Deadmau5 vs EP, Knife Party, everyone threw down. I danced so much I blew thru 7000+ Nike Fuel points easily. It was not overly crowded and all the attendees seemed super nice and chill, unlike the event I attended the night before. I didn't really eat but my friend let me have a bite of her pizza and it was great! Also there were non porta potty restrooms available that were kept pretty clean and the beer garden was perfect. Definitely attending future Hard events, just keep bringing back that dark techno and great house line up!
