One of the best beaches of Formentera and conveniently enough the closest one to the main port. You can easily take a taxi to here after arriving at the marina from ibiza. The taxi prices are set and in 2017 the price was €12.70 each way. The taxi will drop you off at the intersection of Illetes and Llevant (the beach on the other coast of this narrow stretch of land). You will come back to this point to take a taxi back (you may ask any of the beach restaurants to call a cab to come pick you up, but since there has been such increase in tourism, there are a few cabs waiting to pick people up at any given moment).
It's a very famous beach that has a narrow strip of sand and is very long. There are limited sections with beach chairs to rent (at start of the beach closest to Piratas restaurant), but most lay out on the sand. A sandy beach with super calm water that extends fairly far at shallow depths makes it a great option for children, those who can't swim or have mobility issues. Even with the drastic increase in tourism making it crowded now even in September, it is still very peaceful and a place where it's easy to forget the time. Very hard to leave here before the sunset. The good thing is that now they extended the ferry service hours to run way past the 6:30pm final boat in the prior years, so now you get the opportunity to view the sunset from here even if you're not staying on Formentera overnight. read more
