Critical: Honesty, Value, Professionalism (lack of) I hired…read moreAmericlean Water Out of Fort Wayne to clean my HVAC vents and ducts in my home. They were subcontracted out to do the work by Master's Heating and Cooling. I was told by Master's Heating and Cooling that I would be charged $35 per vent. The service was performed on June 8th2021. I was scheduled for a time of 1:00 PM and the crew arrived after 2:00PM. The crew consisted of three men. I have two complete HVAC systems in my home, one for the upstairs and another for the downstairs and finished walk-out basement. The first thing that we did was go through my entire home to count all of the supply and return vents of which there were 44 in total. The crew went to work on the downstairs unit first. They started with the supply vent in the hallway and then moved into my office room. I then took a seat in the back sunroom as they were working. They moved into the Living room next. They then moved into the kitchen and then to the bathroom and laundry room. I asked them if they cleaned the ones in the laundry room and they said that they did, but I did not see them do it. It did not seem to me like they could have cleaned them considering the time they spent between the bathroom and the laundry room. I also suspect that they did not clean the return vent in the living room. I never saw them clean this vent. The items that were in from of the vent were never moved. My wife was also home at the time, and she was in the finished basement working on a quilt project. Later on, we noticed that the items on a shelf that were blocking the return vent in her quilt room were not moved out of the way. I questioned the crew about this, and I was told that they cleaned this vent and put the items back in place. My wife told me that she never saw them in the quilt room or the closet and bathroom that join the quilt room the entire time she was in the basement. After the first floor and basement vents were done, the crew moved to the upstairs HVAC unit. I was charged $50 for them to move the vacuum. I disputed this with the crew. My reasoning is that since my home has twice the amount of vents that a typical home would have (I have two HVAC systems) that my job is really like two jobs, and they if they had done two jobs instead of mine, there would not be an additional fee for moving the vacuum. When the crew moved upstairs, I made sure to follow them around from room to room so they would not miss any vents. They completed the upstairs vents at about 9:00 PM. It was hot that day and we were without air conditioning since 2:00 PM. At some point in time, I realized that they missed the vent in the back room on the first floor, the room I had been waiting in as they were cleaning the vents on the first floor. They could not dispute this because I told them that I was in the room the whole time. After the second floor was completed, they moved the vacuum back down to the remaining vent to clean it out. They left around 10:00 PM that night. In addition. they missed vacuuming up the drywall using their shop vac, that came out of all of the vents as their covers were removed and replaced. They did vacuum up most of them, but they also missed a few. I took this issue up with Water Out on Monday June 14th. I spoke with the general manger who said he would speak with the owners of the company and get back to me that day. He called me back later that day and said he was not able to resolve the issue and told me he would be in touch by Tuesday. As of the time of this writing, Wednesday morning the issue is still not resolved. I would not recommend this company for this service.

Dishonest company!!!…read more On Mother's Day, my family found water leaking into our home in our kitchen from our ceiling/wall. I have always recommended Protechs Restoration as a firefighter, through their 800-Boardup connection. So, I called them and they responded to our home for water mediation. Our baseboards were already removed, due to our kitchen floor being replaced. The employees looked at our roof (from MY LADDER) and probed the wall with a moisture meter. They went into our newly finished basement and probed the ceiling in a vent directly below we're the water was on the floor above (using MY LADDER and SCREW DRIVER). The supervisor arrived and said they were going to set up a dehumidifier, and 2 fans to dry the wall. He said they would return "tomorrow" to check the wall and pickup the equipment. The next day, I saw an hour meter on the dehumidifier and the wall was dry and Protechs Restoration didn't show up as we were told. Because I didn't want to be charged, I shut off the dehumidifier and the fans, at 23 hours. Protechs didn't show up until Wednesday and they picked up the equipment without saying anything to us. Our insurance paid part of the cost of the entire incident, but it was under 1k after our deductible. Our insurance said they didn't cover the roof, because it was "wind driven rain". I heard this term from the protechs supervisor when they responded to our home. Our insurance received a bill from Protechs (we never disclosed our insurance information) and the Protechs bill said "Wind driven rain". We didn't call them to diagnose the cause, we called them for water mediation. Protechs provided us with a bill for $1,368.87, but not itemized. I was told by a former employee of the company that they offer discounts to first responders, so I inquired about a discount and was denied. I requested an itemized bill, to see what exactly I was paying for and it was provided. They charged us with 3 days of drying, with 3 days for each piece of equipment. I contested the 3 days and I was told that was their minimum dry time. I asked why they told me they would return the next day, and they never replied to me. I asked again in a long email and the response was pay your bill, because your insurance approved it. Excuse me? I never signed anything, and was never provided any information from Protechs. My email also asked for the removal of the two days of drying that wasn't done. I was more than willing to pay for the work that was completed. A few weeks went by and we were given an ultimatum, pay the bill or it would be sent to collections. I thought about fighting this in court, but I don't want a lean or something stupid put on my home by this dishonest company for $413.80, so we reluctantly paid the full amount. I will no longer recommend Protechs or 1-800-Boardup to anyone. If this company will treat a firefighter this way, how will they treat the victims of fires or other water losses. I encourage all my firefighter brothers and sisters to really think about who you recommend to your scenes. Protechs is the 1-800-Boardup company for our area, and I intend to reach out to them as well. Since my insurance didn't cover the roof, I tore the shingles off above the leak. Guess what, not wind driven rain! There was a damn hole in the roof, under the shingles, and it finally started leaking. I ate the cost of repairing the roof, which cost me over $600 in materials. I did the labor myself with the help from a good friend, which saved me some money. I'm also encouraging all my friends in the insurance business, as my wife and mother in law have been in their entire careers. DO NOT RECOMMEND OR MENTION PROTECHS TO YOUR CLIENTS!! I will now inform anyone looking for a restoration company about my experience and tell them to research Paul Davis, Water Out, ServePro, etc... and make an educated decision of who they want to entrust their property too.

I asked how much it would cost and I could not get an amount and there was nothing to sign. This company is very expensive One guy from different company drained the entire crawl space for $366, than I asked Protech to come and dry it out. They went in the crawl space and said it was already dry except two small little wet spots on the ground so they sucked it up. I was not able to get an estimate, later got the bill for $575 , it was more expensive than the company that drained entire crawl space. I was furious asked that bill be adjusted , it was wrong and they said no. Don't trust, make sure they give u an estimate. They are expensive and would not work with me on the bill. They did not do $575 worth of work therefore I was robbed. Find a different company.
