There is a person manning the eletronic tickets in case you got confused. I had to make my Aussie's ID and my RSA card and she helped me to take the correct ticket. She also checked my documents and told me to go to the bank to get an address proof. When I came back to the office she gave a priority ticket as I was there before. The officer was polite but less nice than the front woman. PS: If you forgot to bring or fill in your forms there are forms and pens available there.

They welcome everyone in. You can read the many newspapers they have available, sit in a comfy spot and surf the web, or enjoy the full scale model of the city underneath the glass floor. They have a cafe on the top floor that was too pricey for us to try and friendly staff at the information desk to answer your questions. I recommend that anyone visiting the city check it out.

And there's always tons of stuff happening inside, from functions to galas to the library on the First Floor (pro tip: there's tons of kids books if you're lugging the little ones around Circular Quay and they get tired). Oh and it's made of sandstone, my favourite of all building materials. And there's pretty pictures projected onto it when Vivid is on. And Cafe Sydney is on the top floor. It's a triple threat.

I was here for a convention…read more I will say it's a huge space! You can be on level 3..but the wrong part of level 3. Pay attention to the signs of the meeting rooms. There was a lot going on the weekend of my convention. Staff was good and knew exactly where everything was and what areas to go. Bathrooms were clean. It's definitely a nice spot for a gathering. The cafe is only open mon-fri, which is a bit of a disappoint as events were going on all weekend. Lots of space for any event. Also convenient location if traveling the light rail.

Or just had an unexpected experience that I felt compelled to write about even though I'm tireder than a goat herder? I'm here to tell you, it's the latter. Who knew, right? I mean, a big empty room is a big empty room, yeah? But nah. Nah, it ain't. The convention centre here is huge, we're talking a series of colossal, clean warehouses big enough to store a battery of brontosauruses (brontosaurii?) in. Chuck a car show, a Good Food & Wine show, a whatever you want in there and its game on, get going. But the best thing about this joint is how damned easy it is to get in & out, especially for me having to come over the bridge. Straight onto Harris Street, and into the car park. Then, no long walks. Up the stairs and you're right there in D-Harbour, right outside the convention centre. Same leaving. In, out, no muss. Easy off BAM.

This rec centre and all-purpose function room must have been built…read morearound 1970, there's those old parquetry floors gone shiny with use and beige carpet and brick, which makes it sound dull and terrible but I'm here to tell you that it all just works. It's got some kind of wonderful nostalgia value, the place makes you think of school camps and learning tae kwan do or ballroom dancing in church halls down the local park, and these days the place is used by the City of Sydney to hire out to people doing fun things - like the Laneway Learning crew, who teach ace stuff like Bollywood Dancing and crafternoons. There's a pool table and a tea trolley and a small kitchenette, everything you need to feel like you're hanging out in your friend's rec room or your mum's basement. So good.

Great kids corner, with a dedicated junior fiction area. So convenient too. In the hub of it all. I am so looking forward to attending an art workshop that goes for three hours next month, as at the time of writing this. You only pay $5 and this covers all materials. Held every Wednesday (with the exception of school and public holidays) and all materials are included. Held at this library, and class is run by the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre. Plus you do not need to be a Surry Hills local or resident in order to enjoy. Nice one :)

Built as a monument to the long reigning monarch, construction took place during a severe recession. How? The elaborate Romanesque architecture was specially planned for the grand building so the Government could employ many out-of-work craftsmen - stonemasons, plasterers, and stained window artists - in a worthwhile project. The Stained Glass The visual message of Sydney's coat of arms on the cartwheel stained glass window, is that the beehive depicts business, the sailing ship - trade, and the dolphins - the harbor. Panel 1 (on the left-hand side) represents the Council of the City of Sydney and symbols of architecture, while the letters I.G.B., on panel 3 (on the right), represent Ipoh Gardens Berhad, the Malaysian company who restored the QVB in 2009. The symbols are of property developers - the builders. The bottom central panel represents the heraldic symbol of a finished building, and the joining of two hands denotes the fusing of two cultures. The Queen's Secret Letter There is a letter from Queen Elizabeth II to the Citizens of Sydney, to be opened and read by the Lord Mayor of Sydney in the year 2085. The Queen Victoria Statue Outside the QVB, on Town Hall Place, facing The Town Hall are the Royal Wishing Well and Queen Victoria's statue. My experience: This is the second time I have visited this building and on the second time, I found even more hidden historical things of note. It's a remarkable way to feel like you've stepped back in time, whether that's through shopping or through grabbing a coffee or tea and sitting in the atrium, taking it all in.
