Upon a recommendation from my HOA (looking for a provider with experience at my five-story, downtown condominium building with a split system, condenser on the roof) I called Service Experts. Customer service was able to set me up as a new customer and schedule a tech to come out the following day within a two-hour window. Richard arrived ten minutes before the scheduled time. He even removed his boots when entering my condo (unnecessary but appreciated.) After a quick visual inspection and a couple basic checks, we went to the stairwell to access the roof. Unfortunately, the management company had not unlocked the access panel. Richard waited patiently as I called for the access codes. He quickly determined the problem (the capacitor) and walked me through the issue and a cost estimate to replace it. He did offer a service plan that bundled some regular servicing with a small discount on this repair. I declined and there was no pressure. I found the price to be reasonable. It was not a "bargain" but given the complexity of the situation with street parking, roof access, door codes, etc., I was satisfied with the cost. Richard completed the repair quickly and verified everything was working to my satisfaction. I know there are some mixed reviews here. If I could give zero stars, that's my choice. These..... Our thermostat died in Feb and it had to be ordered. Our system wouldn't stop running. installation error. The loaner kinda works. Experienced higher than normal power bills during this stretch. Months, not weeks. No contact, updates. Then, July 3, 2026, the backup died. 94%. Had to go. Called & EXPEDITED appt was Tuesday, July 8. We had to urgently get a hotel room on July 4th weekend & needed to be close in case someone could come by. I told the rep(not named for privacy) that we were at Hampton Inn Capital blvd until service. That was $900 I wasn't planning for. My Anniversary savings. I've asked by phone and text for a manager. Service Experts has treated this 19-year customer VERY poorly. Here are the facts: We bought a new Lennox heat pump and furnace from Service Experts in April of 2025. The heat pump broke this June and we had no AC for three days during a heatwave. [14 months after purchase] The repair was a faulty Schrader valve, causing a refrigerant leak. The heat pump broke AGAIN on Tuesday during the current heatwave. [16 months after purchase] We lost AC and the technician didn't come until Thursday evening. [a two day delay] After 1.5 hours, he said he couldn't fix the unit and would have to come back next week. This time the coils are leaking oil and refrigerant, but we don't have an official diagnosis. The company called late the next morning and said they'd return in four days. [a week from the day it broke] We called requesting to speak to a manager but were told no one was available and that someone would call us back. Nobody called us back. [we waited four hours] Through persistence we finally reached a person who moved our repair up to Sunday evening. [two days away instead of the original four] As of today, we will be without a repair for nearly six days in 90 degree weather with high humidity on a 16-month old unit we paid Service Experts to install and maintain. We've been a loyal customer for 19 years, spending thousands with the company on maintenance, repairs, and new equipment over that time. They used to be good. The new HVAC unit we had installed from Service Experts has been the worst home decision we have made after decades of home ownership. We purchased a top of the line AC unit and we are locked into a ten year contract for unlimited repairs, which is good since we have had nothing but issues. It was installed incorrectly and the technicians have been to our home over a dozen times. Even with regular maintenance over two years we are still having issues with it not working properly. The appointment was set between the hours of 4pm-8pm, service Experts texted at 8am and said I would need to reschedule. Mind you per Adriana at corporate there have been 10 cancelations. The service yesterday was for my HVAC which I should receive 2 visit per year. They also canceled the service on my tankless waterheater. I pay $70 per month for 2 service agreements where I am not receiving the service per their contract. This company was quite good about 10 years ago, now they are just trash. I see the new CEO Dan Reidy came on board in 2024 and service has gone downhill ever since. At the Raleigh location I am still waiting to hear from the general manager Darian Miller or Jennifer but hey they still debit my bank account every month for services not received. I also made a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. We shall see how that pans out. I plan on posting my google reviews everytime they don't hold up their end of the bargain. We have had Service Experts under contract for both HVAC and plumbing since 2024. The HVAC service has been fine. The plumbing service has not. They drained our hot water heater when we initiated the contract, but have not shown up for services the following two years. The most frequent reason is that despite them sending me the notices that the service would be the next day, when I call about a no-show, I'm told that there is no plumber working that day and it should never have been scheduled for that day. Like I am at fault. They scheduled it and sent confirmation text messages the day before in each case. I have called the company, and their call center and HQ escalation team are polite enough, but cannot help, get a manager on the phone, nor does the management honor the solutions they offer. I have called several times since they failed to show up on 6/22/2026 to cancel the plumbing service I have paid for since 2024 without the promised services provided. The woman I spoke to on 6/22/2026 said she cancelled the plumbing service, my HVAC service going forward would be $15, and I would be issued a three month credit. None of those things have happened. They even sent me a text message saying that they were showing up for the service the next day even though no appointment was scheduled. Each time I call, after waiting on the phone for well over 30 minutes, I am told a manager cannot be reached and that someone will call me back. So far, no calls have been forthcoming. We're providing a review with 1 star because there is not an option for 0 stars. Service experts talked us into a service contract that requires a monthly payment (which we dutifully make via credit card auto-charge) and requires them to inspect our systems before the heat of summer or the cold of winter can adversely affect our systems. They talk a good game. Instead, what we've learned is that our payment only guarantees we are at the bottom of their call list. Having already been canceled for our last fall inspection and rescheduled well into winter, we tried to schedule our Spring inspection in the Spring and were told then that we couldn't schedule until a month out. So we call in April. They didn't schedule us until late June (6/25, the day I'm writing this). Today, having taken the afternoon off to accommodate their schedule, they called at 12:30 to cancel/reschedule until August ... well into the heat of Summer, the time we wanted their inspection to protect our system from. I've been a customer for quite a few years now, was one of the first ones to sign up for the advantage program. The last 2 years they have declined in customer service. The quality of service is so lousy now. The office staff is Horrible, I cannot wait for my lease agreement to end so I can find another company that values their customer. We had a very disappointing and misleading experience with Service Experts. What was verbally presented to us as "paying off a ~$10,000 HVAC unit over time" turned out to be a 10-year lease totaling nearly $19,000. The agreement was signed on a technician's tablet without the full contract or lease disclosures being shown at the time of signing. The actual contract -- which revealed the true total cost and that this was a lease -- was only sent after the signature. If you look at the reviews, they did this to many other people as well. When we later contacted the company to discuss options, we were told that ending the agreement would require a buyout of roughly $12,000, despite having already paid thousands. We were also discouraged from filing complaints and told negotiations would stop if we did. This experience felt extremely misleading and left us feeling trapped in a contract we never would have agreed to had the terms been clearly explained upfront. Lennox Combination Furnance is 2 years old and has had annual prevenative service completed. Furnance failed a week ago and Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning has still not resolved the issue and left me without heat for the coldest weeks in January in NC. Parts are on back-order with no timeline for when they will be available. I've called multiple times and have been told that someone would call me within 24 hours. My AC was not working, the thermostat was set to 74 and the temp in the house was 81 when I called Service Experts. It was yesterday a Sunday at 4:30 in the afternoon, but I had googled HBAC repair and their ad said they worked 24/7, so I called, and was told a tech would be at my place before 8PM, he arrived at 7:00PM and the AC was working by 7:30PM. The service charge at the time I called had been discounted to $99.00, so the total cost to get our house cooled again before this heat wave on it's way, was $106.00 What a deal! I've emailed multiple times with not a single response from the only department that can answer the question. One of the biggest mistakes I've every made was getting a new HVAC using there advantage contract. The unit has never worked correctly in the past 13 months. I've been 2 months without heat. in the past 25 days i've had 4 appointments for server leaving me still with out heat. An every visit I get a different answer as to why the unit is not working. Today's appointment was from 8 to 12 with ended in a no show. After calling twice I get someone out to tell me that they need to order a new part that should have been order two weeks ago and will be 4 to 5 days. So I will be with out heat for Christmas. Yesterday our neighbor let us know that we had a water leak that was causing problems in his front yard. We called yesterday was able to schedule an appointment to get someone out here to look at the leak, and to also look at our water heater. Richard Earlington called to let us know that he was on his way and gave us time to put up our dogs, so they didn't jump on him. Mr. Earlington did an awesome job and very professional while here. I joined the advantage program about 2 years ago, and immediately starting having issues with the "brand new" unit installed. Over these 2 years, I've had my heat and AC go out and require repair more than I have needed in my lifetime combined. They may come out within 24 hours but rarely do they fix it that day. Last week, my AC stopped working again, I called and someone came out the next day. He claimed that the issue was "likely caused by a storm" and a part would be ordered. He said it would take 2-3 days to come in. He also spent over an hour on hold trying to get through to his own company to order the part. Three days later no one had called, so I called, they said they'd message the parts department and call back. That evening, the parts department called to let me know they just ordered the part and it was being overnighted, so the initial claim they ordered the part was a lie. I've had to call every day since then, being told the same thing, that they don't see an ETA on the part, they will contact the department, and I will get a call back that day. I haven't received any calls back. I also expressed a concern that when they installed my new unit, they reused the old and damaged parts. The reason I suspect this is that my friend used this company and the advantage plan (on my referral, which I greatly regret), after the install, she found they had put a lien on her house, without telling her, and it was preventing the refinance they were doing. They ended up paying off the unit to get out of the plan. 6 months or so later, they had an issue with their AC, a technician came out and explained that while the unit was new, all the rest of the parts were old and corroded. Service Experts will not take responsibility for it nor will they fix it, claiming "anyone could have put those parts in after we did the installing". We are currently in a heat wave, I've got young children and animals, and a house with no AC. I highly recommend avoiding this company! read more

Stay far away from Service Experts unless you want to spend your time and money on incompetent techs, poor quality work and terrible customer service. I've experienced several situations in which I contacted Service Experts about a HVAC related issue, had a tech come out (usually late) and explain to me the issue and resolution - and when that didn't work, another tech come would come out with a completely different story. Both charging unreasonable amounts for inconsistent answers and low-quality service. Beyond these discrepancies, I've had other employees from Service Experts show up at my house while the assigned tech was already here in attempts to upsell me on additional services. A word of advice coming from a salesperson, the last thing a customer wants to hear while dealing with expensive HVAC problems is an annoying sales pitch. The cherry on top of my Service Experts experience happened last night when my air conditioning stopped working. In the time it took me to reach anyone at Service Experts, I was able to speak with two other HVAC companies. I was told a tech would be arriving at my house free of charge that night to investigate the issue and of course, nobody showed up. My appointment was rescheduled for the next morning and while I finally got someone over to my house, I was hit with an approx. $100 fee after I was informed the night before this appointment was free. It was explained to me that this was a "diagnostic fee" separate from the usual charge to send out a tech. How convenient! A different HVAC company already provided me with a totally different explanation, and cheaper, course of action to fix my air conditioning dilemma. 'Someone' printed my name in a section of the paperwork that indicated I agreed to a 60 month service agreement with Service Experts who I had never heard of before, which I did not. Two years later it is unsolved with their NEVER sending me the plumbing job paperwork despite asking for it dozens of times. Now they have sent us to a collections agency who have been harassing us for a year. We have repeatedly told them we are willing to pay for the HWH & installation but that we do NOT WANT ANY SERVICE AGREEMENT but they ignore us and keep on trying to collect for 'overdue' service agreement fees.
