This Asian family-owned Alterations and Dry Cleaning business is one of Roanoke's best kept secret…read more I discovered it a while ago, and it was not by chance. Needing to have some alterations done to a new suit I had just bought to attend a special event, I visited several alterations and dry cleaning businesses that I knew about because of their central location and expensive advertising to get their name out there. All of them charged exuberant amount of money to have what I needed done, as well as having to outsource the job, and taking much too long to have it done. Then, all of a sudden, I remembered a little place I once saw as I was driving by the Colonial Office Center. It was located in one of three small businesses at the end of the parking lot to this Office Center. And I thought to myself: "Sometimes amazing things come in small packages." So I decided to travel on the road less traveled, in this case beyond the parking lot, and to this small building that housed the Sun's Alterations & Dry Cleaning business. This is where I met a very kind and hospitable lady who's main concern was solving my problem of getting my new suit tailored and ironed on time to attend my special event. Since all their alterations are done on the premises by a professional tailor with 26 years of experience, she told me it could be done and quoted me a very reasonable price. Who would ever have imagined that in this humble, little store, hidden behind a large Office building, I found the solution to my problem provided by a wonderful and warm Korean family-owned business. Since then I have always gone there for all my alterations and dry cleaning needs, and recommend the place to family and friends. Today, when I visited the place to take some photographs to accompany this review, I had the privilege to also meet the husband of the family and their older son, and to personally thank them for the great contribution that they are making to the community of the Star City of Roanoke, Virginia. I highly recommend this small business for all your alterations and dry cleaning needs, and urge you to support this wonderful family by giving them your business and friendship.

Wonderful experience getting the dress for my sons wedding altered and hemmed. Kim was very kind…read moreand attentive as we discussed what I wanted done. Her work was excellent, the dress had multiple layers and the bodice was "constructed". I thought the price was very reasonable for the amount of work. After the wedding I took the dress back to be cleaned and again excellent job.

BEWARE of what you THINK you are getting. I have been taking shirts to have them dry cleaned for…read moreyears and the new owner apparently is NOT dry cleaning the shirts...they are being laundered instead. After the new owner came in all my dry cleaning stopped having the smell my Husband could always detect. He said frequently he knew I was not having his shirts dry cleaned. I told him I always asked for them to be dry cleaned. My Husband has 7 shirts he uses for work. Those 7 shirts have been dry cleaned for years. Recently I called to ask if the dry cleaning was ready for pick up and was told they could not be dry cleaned. I went in to get the shirts and the new owner said they would bleed if dry cleaned. I told him the cleaners had been dry cleaning the shirts for a long time. He said "I am the ONLY one doing the dry cleaning and I have never cleaned those shirts". That is when I knew they had never been dry cleaned since he took ownership...they had, in fact, been laundered. I took them to another cleaners and they dry cleaned them without any problem. So be very aware that what you think you might be getting and paying for.

Better off going to Marion or Radford for altercations. Lori was untruthful from the start. Said…read moreshe could do the work on the phone, $10 no prob. Get there and she tells me she isn't comfortable helping me pin my dress up for the altercations, okay no big deal. Said the lady thats good with that kind of thing would be there the following Monday, to come back by. I had a little time to spare until I needed the dress so I said okay and left my name and number. Monday rolls around, I go and she tells me lady already left for the day, she lost my number (lie. My name and number was pinned to my dress cover). Said come back next Monday. I said I can't wait that long so she sends me to Radford. A little frustrating, but okay. I get my dress and pick up my son's jacket I had left to get a zipper put in. She said she couldn't find it but that it was done. Said come back tomorrow. A little frustrated I asked her to look again. She found it right where she was looking before, all she needed to do was put the plastic over it. I go to Radford, the lady there helps wonderfully, buy charges me $75 (a LOT more than I was quoted, but I let it go) she had it done in two days. Paid over the phone and said she would send it back to Wytheville to pick up so I wouldn't have to drive back down. Said that the person transporting them comes on Monday to pick them up and deliver them and It would be there by Monday evening. I go Tuesday morning. No dress. Lori said guy forgot to deliver??? It's be here tomorrow she would call and remind him. Okay, today I go (wed) and guess what. STILL NO DRESS. and there was a different worker who had NO clue what was going on. She helped me and called and got in touch with the delivery person. It's supposed to be there tomorrow morning first thing. So we shall see. Horrible experience. Take business elsewhere. The drive is worth it.
