Italian streets intertwine and loop. As usual, I walked in circles and wound up lost. Well, Mercato di Campana Amica del Circo Massimo turned out to be the truth and Bocca della Verita became the second point of interest. Fresh cheese, pastries, jams, cookies, prosciutto, you name it. They got it. I bought a porchetta sandwich for lunch. The real deal smacked in between two slices of artisanal bread. Layered with fragrant rosemary and other herbs and an abundance of crackly skin, it was as good as good gets. This is a great market to pick up fresh meats, cheeses, and vegetables. Each vendor is friendly and extremely proud of their product. I'd recommend buying presents for back home here but truthfully, you'd end up eating the goodies in your hotel bed. It is laid out in a grid pattern, which helps if you get lost. I recommend taking your time, stroll around, and explore the entire Market. It is impressive, and vendors are friendly. Our first visit to the Market was with my Rome-based brother-in-law on a warm June day. The Market is open on all four sides. It is covered and protected from sun and rain. Quite comfortable inside.

The Testaccio Farmers' Market (the one featured in the photos) moved to Via Francesco Passino in the Garbatella neighborhood TWO years ago and is nothing like what Troy described. What junk are you referring to? They only sold food and produce, there were and are no "dollar-store" items for sale. You must be confusing it with something else. In any case, it's by far one of the best produce-food markets around featuring local producers only.
