    Surf and Turf

We have been coming here for over 3 years now and last night we were there for Mother's Day celebration. We were not disappointed. Favi and all staff are awesome in doing their jobs. It's a busy night but we know the food will be great! And again we we're not disappointed! The Surf and Turf dinner special was really delicious. All the flavours meld together as one fulfilling dinner experience. The ambiance is always just nice for a Grass Valley experience! 5 Stars and please keep it going grea

Lamb chop special with mashed potatoes, gravy, potato chips, baby carrots, asparagus, and mushrooms.

Had a lovely dinner with the very attentive staff here. I wanted a table in the shade for my poodle to be comfortable. Our server found one while telling us the specials. I had the lamb chop special, which was fantastic. Chop cooked exactly as I ordered. They were on top of fluffy mashed potatoes also topped with potato chips. There were sides of mushrooms, asparagus and baby carrots. It was an all around excellent meal. I was very happy.

    half portion ravioli with pesto

Sergios is a nice spit for affordable, delicious italian food. Everything is beautiful presented with friendly service. We started with the fruit and cheese plate and the caprese salad. The caprese salad was excellent, with fresh ingredients and balsamic vinegar. The cheese plate was pretty good, I wish there was more variety in the fruit and that the raspberry glaze didn't cover everything, but the brie, chevre, and candied pecans were fabulous. I split the spinach and ricotta ravioli, so what you see here are half portions. The pasta dough tasted amazing, conveying the flavors of fresh handmade pasta. The basil in the pesto was great too. Unfortunately the ravioli didn't really have any filling, and the pesto was mostly oil, but overall still good. I tried the panna cotta and it was undoubtedly the best I've ever had. The cream was light and sweet and went amazingly with the tart raspberry sauce. Overall a very nice experience whether you go as a couple or with a family.

    Ambiance!

We had a wonderful meal at Sergio's! I got the Veal Saltimbocca and my husband got Chicken Parm. Both were tender and delicious and plentiful. It was a beautiful night - our table was by the window so we could see the beautiful downtown sites. Service was efficient and friendly. Very satisfied!

While working in Grass Valley my business colleagues, and I tried different restaurants locally. This was your favorite Italian restaurant. I had the lasagna with bolognese and béchamel sauce, served with locally sourced grilled vegetables. My colleagues had the linguini with clams and mussels, and the cioppino. all three dishes were excellent. service was prompt and excellent. I am told from the locals you can't go wrong here.

The food was so delicious, and the staff was very friendly. My mom and I just decided to stop in one afternoon and we were seated right away, the inside has a very pleasant calming vibe to it. Once we looked over the menu the waitress came over and took our order and was very nice, she put our order in and the food came out fairly quickly, and it was amazing, everything tasted very fresh and it was very tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant to someone looking for something a little more elegant.

    Shrimp salad

We ordered vegetable soup, and clams and muscles for an appetizer. They each had great flavor- especially the clams and muscles. For a main course I got the shrimp salad which was like a shrimp Louie salad. It was delicious except for the fact that they didn't devein the shrimp. If it wasn't for this, it would be 5 stars. My son had the seafood risotto which also didn't have the shrimp deveined, but besides that it was delicious- better flavor than food that we've eaten in Italy. The servers were nice too. I would eat here again.

I usually have the roasted veg salad with salmon or chicken - always excellent- but today tried something new! Salmon dinner with spinach and potatoes was yummy! Recommend. Tiramisu was wonderful. Friendly, lovely service.

A better choice than Sergio's Cafe: the newly renovated bar in the Holbrook Hotel.

My friends ordered gluten free bread and pasta, but they def still had something with gluten in it and it was probably the sauce :( Had the crespelle and it was very good (basically a crepe drenched in sauce). The sauce is creamy but very tangy, almost sour. Would have liked it to be even cheesier inside, but solid dish overall, very soft, good amount of spinach and mushrooms inside, can cut with fork. I wouldn't get it again just because it wasn't a good match for my taste preference (not huge on tangy), but it was good! The saltimbocca alla romana was really good, I would get that one again. Very creamy sauce, the chicken was nice and tender, flavorful and juicy. The polenta was soft but still had a thick almost bready texture, like if you soaked cornbread (but tastes like plain polenta, not like sweet cornbread). If you've never had polenta before, it's sort of a thick grainy oatmeal-like texture. The semifreddo was like if you took tiramisu, added more espresso, and condensed it down into a singular flat slice of cake / bread pudding (soft mushy texture). Delicious sauce, very strong on the whiskey/caramel flavor. Would definitely get that one again. Service was great, and the garlic bread was surprisingly soft and delicious.

A bit kitschy in the decor but pleasant, spacious and very nice. The service was extraordinarily friendly, attentive and helpful. We felt like family were waiting on us. As we got menus right away there's a good variety of choices. Since the essence of the restaurant is Maltese I was particularly intrigued as I know nothing of that cuisine. We started with a cup of the soup of the day, a Tuscan bean soup, that was delightful. It was full of beans and fresh vegetables in a hearty soup base. Although a few choices in the salads and sandwiches sounded appealing I instead chose the Lamb Maltese pasta. On a bed of farfalle (bowtie) pasta it comes with lamb pieces and a slightly spicy red sauce. All very delicious and I found it to be a very tasty dish. The only downside was the lamb chunks were not the usual, long and oddly sized, plus very chewy. Overall it didn't really diminish the dish. While we all were quite content and full our server brought out an incredible array of amazing looking desserts that would wow anyone. Unfortunately there just wasn't an appetite left for it. However, I will remember that for next time. I will definitely go back to try other things. This is a wonderful place for a pleasant meal.

Since we were in Grass Valley we headed there for lunch. The interior is woodsy and homey, with a country edge. There's a pleasant inside and a really nice outdoor patio area. We opted for indoors as it was a bit cool outside. Seated right away, we got menus, which are EXTENSTIVE, for breakfast and lunch. The omelet section alone is mind boggling. Service was quick, efficient and very friendly. These folks have it down and probably have worked there for awhile. After perusing the menu and getting iced tea, I chose the Long John burger (ordered medium rare) that seemed very tempting and Ed got the Caravan sandwich with Roast Beef. We both ordered a side of the Sweet Potato fries (included!). Expecting a tall juicy burger difficult to get my mouth into it and super messy I was pleasantly surprised to get this very long piece of bread instead. It was much easier to eat and I wasn't slobbering it all over myself. Bravo! The flavor, amount of meat, grilled onions and everything else on the burger was perfectly delicious. Ed's sandwich looked amazing and he really enjoyed it. We both agreed that the grilled onions were absolutely made to perfection and the sweet potato fries some of the best we ever had, especially not soggy or greasy. The kitchen knows what they are doing. They have a very interesting and enticing drink menu and had it been dinner I probably would have tried a couple.
