This is the best place for facials and eye lash extensions for cheap, that you can still afford to regularly keep up with. Only $45 for either, if you buy 6 upfront which you can use for either and even share with friends. If you buy one offs its $65 a visit. When I was looking around other eyelash extension places started at around $150. The facials are super thorough, and take about an hour half to do. Vanessa at the counter speaks English and ask for facial lady Cheri. My favorite person is May, but she only speaks in Chinese. Make sure you make an appointment in advance there weekend schedule gets filled up pretty quickly. The best part is you can split it with friends, so they get used it pretty quickly. I have been thinking about getting eyelash extensions for a while now but just can't swallow paying $100 - $200 for eyelashes that could last anywhere from 2 weeks to 1.5 months! Then I thought - why not check out the San Gabriel area where everything is cheaper and see if there are any good places? I decided to go to Serenity Skin Care based on the price and reviews and I'm glad I did! I went for the natural looking ones (you can go dramatic) and the whole process took about an hour. The results, really natural looking, longer and lusher eyelashes! They do attach each lash individually. It is $60, but if you decide to join their membership, it's a lot cheaper. You have to pre-pay 6 sessions, but getting them at a discount of $45 each. I just didn't want to commit until I saw their results, but now I think I will. Along with the membership, touch-ups (within a month of extensions) are only $10! Now - disclaimer - this is definitely by far not a nice, place, they left the door open the whole time which I thought was weird. But honestly for the price, it's something I can overlook. read more

This is a great place for facials. After coming here for a few months, I've definitely noticed a change in my skin, and makeup goes on so much smoother now. I got the 10-session package for $450, which comes out to be $45 per facial, plus you get an 11th session free. The entire facial lasts about 1.5 hours. They do everything from cleaning and massaging your face, to the painful extractions to masks to steaming to this electric zapping thing that's suppose to kill all the bacteria in your face. It even includes a hand softening treatment, back and shoulder massage and cleaning up the eyebrows. They have individual rooms or rooms with two beds for couple's facials. I dragged the fella to get a couple's facial the first time, but now he's addicted and looks forward to coming back each month. I tried the eyelash extension and it's not bad for only $45 considering other places charge over a hundred bucks. She spent nearly 1 hour meticulously applying individual lashes to my natural ones and the end result was fuller natural looking lashes that really make your eyes bigger. She acts very friendly in person but she tries to trick you into spending more or tells you to try something at no extra charge and after you're done she tells you she is going to charge you. That is call a LIAR! Her eyelash extension sucks they glue your bottom and top lashes together then have to cut it off meaning they are not good at it. SUPER SCARY! I would stay away from this place. I've been going to Carol for a few years now, and have always had a good experience. They will evaluate each person's skin type and customize their facial based on the person's needs. I've been going to this place since 2007. Back then I always had pimples, every month! Carol told me i will need an acne facial and will have to come back in 2 weeks. I put my complete trust in her and came back. After my second visit, I would come back every month for my maintenance facial. Since then, my face has always been clear. My pimples were gone! Thanks Carol! Right now I try to come back once a month to keep my face smooth & clear. Even my co workers noticed the improvement back then when I had pimples and now that my face is still improving. I recently tried the glycolic facial, which is a peel. I love it!!! Don't hesitate to try it. This place is really good and the price is much better compared to other places. I always come back to see Michelle for my facial. She gives the best facial and massage. I've been coming here for about a year now and did purchase the package deal for 6 facials @ $45 each. I really like the service. They are nice and professional and really do a Great job. I was excited to find out that they had an opening in about an hour and a half. When she told me the price of $45, I thought "Wow, what a great deal." I wanted to be sure I heard correctly, so I repeated it back, "Facials are $45?" and the lady on the phone said "Yes, $45" well needless to say I made an appt. for the same afternoon. I also asked her where they were located as this was going to be my 1st time at Serenity Skin Care and so she gave me the address. Mind you, she now KNOWS this is my VERY 1ST TIME here. I arrive for my 3pm appt and receive a very wonderful facial. After my facial I thought, "Great facial. I will be coming back." Then the time comes to pay. They now tell me I have to join to be a member and then the facial will be $45. If not it is $60. I told them I didn't want to join, but I was told my facial will be $45. She kept asking me "why don't you want to join." Also telling me, "You aren't going to see results till a few facials in" Ok I get it, but I don't want to join! So she tells me there is nothing she can do and runs my card for $60. I was furious! They told me it was $45!!!!!!!!!! So she calls Carol to ask her what to do. A funny thing happens when your friend tells you, "I can see your pores, maybe you should think about getting a facial." :O And to think I was the one who taught him how to clear blackheads! But I digress - I took his advice and started looking on Yelp for a place nearby and available on such short notice. I had been putting it off for a while and it caught up with me. I couldn't find any prices posted online so I called ahead and asked Carol how much it would cost. $45 she said and so I thought. It was $5 more than another place my mom took me too, but I thought I'd try a place on my own since my mom was out of town. I went during the recent rainstorm and didn't have a hard time finding the place. I was the only customer there, and had the pleasure of being serviced by a woman named Shirley. She's an older Asian female who is not shy about telling you the condition of your face or prodding your face with metal instrument(s). "So do I have a lot of icky things on my face?" I ask, "YES, YOU HAVE A LOT," she says. There goes my holiday cheer, and affirmed that hindsight is 20/20. She provided a hand treatment which was basically putting your hands in giant baking gloves and you are to leave them in there the entire process. The facial was particularly nice as it was cooling down my face. The shoulder/back massage seemed to be extended compared to the other places I've been to. Extraction is no fun and I wouldn't brag about my pain tolerance. However, you know that it's something you have to endure to prevent craters in your face. The facial took 1.5 hr, and my poor friend was starving at home while waiting for me to finish. I was told 0.5-1 hour but I shouldn't complain too much since I wasn't getting a facial during a lunch hour or something like that. However, the kicker was at the end. Expecting that my facial was only $45 and bringing enough for that + tip, I was told that it was actually $65 but should become a MEMBER to receive the $45/facial deal (deceptive much?). There was tremendous pressure that I really did not appreciate. The receptionist had to call Carol and confirm that $45 is what I was quoted. I let them know at the beginning that I not only found them on Yelp (20% discount) and was my first time (10% discount), but didn't receive either. I figure it's because they already felt like I cheated them out of money (but $45 is what I was quoted!) and wanted to get me out of there as soon as possible - when they realized I was NOT going to subscribe to being a member. All things being said, I probably won't be heading back because $65 is not competitive for a haven of beauty services in the SGV. Places with a sales environment don't go well with me. read more

i was lured into buying a membership on the first visit. i have to say i was impressed with their eyelash extension results on my first visit, so i bought the membership. that's probably all the good things i have to say about this place. fyi: the membership will allow you to do eyelash extn or facial. my second visit was also eyelash extension. this was my last eyelash extension ever. i got an eye infection from it. it cost me $200.00 to buy this eye drop to fix my eyes, prescribed by the optometrist. i called Carol and voiced my concerns and she offered to take them off. i ended up not getting them removed bc i had a sick feeling that i'd end up with an eye infection AND no eyelashes (my own lashes that is). 2 weeks later the infection went away. now i'm stuck with 4 more visits....so i decided to do facials instead. the first facial experience was ok. i am used to super deep extractions from skin resolutions, so getting my facials done at serenity was like a spa experience, but i didn't feel like my skin was cleaned well. it felt more like a relaxing facial. 2nd facial- this lady was so degrading and kept telling me how oily my skin is. she seemed disgusted that my skin was that oily. (really, my skin seems pretty normal to the naked eye) she kept making that tsk tsk noise and it made me feel like crap. they said i need to come back 2 weeks later. i didn't need to feel like crap that soon. thanks. 3rd facial- again, i was told i have large pores and that i have oily skin. black head, lots of zits and pimples, blah blah blah. and carol tried so hard to sell me new membership, offering me new treatments for free etc etc etc...i just brushed her off. again, i'm told i need to come back in 2 weeks. when i went home, my face felt smooth and i thought, perhaps i will come back in two weeks. until i woke up the next morning...i had 2 large zits that grew overnight after the facial. and she told me she did extractions, 90% of my pores have been cleaned. (well, she did this 90% in about 5 mins! and my face is THAT BAD?!) i have 1 more to go. facial it is. perhaps i should go in 2 weeks to get this over with. this place is VERY PUSHY with their services and their membership. they will offer u 10% off or 20% off. or free treatment if you sign up for membership TODAY ONLY. thanks, but NO THANKS! 1 star for my first eyelash extension 1 star for 1 relaxed facial. i'm pretty generous. read more

This place was great in the beginning for a facial but after a year going here, all they try to do is sell you on other services. I know that some skin care places have a habit of doing so, but this place is pretty extreme. At first, they make it seem like it's very affordable and convince you that their prices are better than other places. DO NOT GET FOOLED! I originally started with acne treatment that cost $55 per session when you purchase 10 of them which was not too bad but I was going twice a month. Meaning I was spending $110 a month!!! Then around the 8th or 9th session, Carol advises me to try the dermabrasion. I was told while I was getting my regular treatment and was told that it's free. She just wanted me to try it out. After my session, she then tells me that my face looks 10 times better with this treatment than regular acne treatment. She then tells me that this treatment is $75 so I have to pay extra $20! I had to argue with her because 1. I didn't ask for this treatment and 2. I didn't really see a difference! Just be aware that nothing is free at this place. They might say so but at the end, they make you pay! It should be up to the customer to decide if they want additional services not deceive them into a free service and then charge them! read more

This place deserves as many stars as possible. My eyelashes held up pretty well during three weeks of crying from my mothers death and I very relaxed right before this happened so my skin didn't get as bad as my sisters, but still I can't wait to get back to LA again. Yelpers this places is amazing. You can buy packages and share them. I get back to LA Friday night and I will be going no later then monday, also check out the food court there, the the Thai slushies are the bomb. I got my eyelashes done there and within 3 days a bunch of lashes started coming off. I called Carol and told her about it. She asked me to come in and she will have someone fix it. I went in like she asked me to and then she charges me $15.00 to place the lashes that were suppose to last up to 3 weeks. I will never go there again. Very bad service and bad job. read more

I decided to try this place out for the first time after reading all the good reviews and I really regret it. This is probably the worst facial experience I've been through. The place appears clean, but it is not relaxing in the least. I went on a Thursday afternoon, so did not get bother by the karaoking going on next door, but the facialist kept banging her tools against the light and that was annoying. Plus she insist on leaving the door open to the room, so it got really loud as I was the first room in the corridor. However, the biggest problem occurred at the beginning of the process with the brow trimming. In the middle of the brow trim, I started to feel a pain, and I wasn't sure what she had just did to me. It wasn't until after I got home that I was able to confirm she had indeed cut me with the scissor. I have never had anyone cut me before and she not only cut me once, but twice on both eyes. Now several weeks later, I have 2 scars to remind me of the experience I had at this place. Only reason I'm even giving it 2 stars is because the facial itself is not bad and the rest of my face was really smooth and clean, but I would never be returning. read more

Carol and her staff members are my life savers! I have battled with acne for 6 plus years, and I have wasted so much money on products and facials elsewhere. I was beginning to lose hope but was luckily was introduced to Serenity Skin Care. I decided to give it one last shot, and I'm so fortunate that I did! The staff is amazing; they really take care of you and keep track of the progress of the acne treatment! What's different about this place is that they teach you how to take care of your body. To get rid of acne, teamwork is required: the staff clears your skin from the outside, and you individually must learn to take care of your body, healing from the inside. Carol gave me lots of helpful and EASY tips to follow to better cleanse my body from the inside. I'm a student, and barely have time to sleep, but Carol's tips are so easy to follow that even I find time to do it. Let me tell you, I'm am VERY please and happy with the results. My face used to be filled with acne, and my self-esteem was in the dumps. Now my face is smooth, and when I look at old photos of myself, I'm so shocked at the dramatic change. All I have left are scars, but I'm still continuing with Carol's scar treatment. I have only done two sessions of the treatment, but already, I see big improvements. Her techniques really work! My face is so clear and smooth now! My confidence have definitely boost up! The facial is also very relaxing and comfortable! I actually fell asleep a couple of times. Ive been to many places for facials and this is one of my favorite places. Everyone was really accommodating and Carol (the owner) is nice and knows how to get the job done woman right. I didn't really have to make an appt and they squeezed me in on the spot along with my friend from Chicago. I had a good deal on a microdermabrasion $80 . My friend had great results with getting rid of her moles. I had to go a second time and brought my sister there for some eyelash extensions. Which Cherie did a FANTASTIC job with much patience. Shirley did my extensions and she did an awesome job!!! I even fell asleep while she was doing it. Went to Serenity because I couldn't get an appointment at my regular place and needed a touch ASAP. To make a long story short they quote you a membership price over the phone and don't tell you the actual price until your done. I was sucked into the membership package and after about 1 month in I realized I made a huge mistake. Lashes were never consistent they literally pulled out my own lashes ! Also they always try to sell you their other services. I had credit of a $125.00 but never went back there just wanted to be done. Carol could of called me to tell me she would either refund my money or offer one of their services at no charge. I went back to my regular place (3 D eyebrows ) they are the best in the San Gabriel Valley !! LIsa does the eyebrows and her sister Linda does the extensions . This has got to be the biggest waste of my time. My first time walking in this place-the chineese lady already tries to upsell me something I do not want. Then she starts arguing with me rather than giving me a thorough consultation. Next-I find out the esthecian is not even in. Big disappointment-poor service-some of the people that write positive review of this place either work here, are friends of the owners, or family members. It may seem cheap but they have this sign that say 10% and 15% gratuity added etc.-most other derm places have everything on one bill. I read a review saying she did a good job removing moles, so I went in with my mom. I had 4 I wanted removed from my arm. They weren't too big but they were the largest ones I had on my body. She suggested I get the tiny ones on my face removed too but I said I wanted to see the results of the ones of my arm first. She was not too pushy but she said she said it really was in my best interest to save another trip and just get it all done at once; that it only takes 3-5 days to clear and heal. And when I asked if it would make any marks, she said that whatever marks it would leave would be better than the mole that is already there. She kept talking about her past clients whose face was covered all over with very large moles and they got them all removed in one day. She was very honest about the mole removal process that it would hurt. I forget what she called it, but essentially it is a device that burns your mole off and was very painful though she made me feel dumb by saying I must have a low tolerance for pain. Not true because I've been through military boot camp and it was painful but at least they don't burn any part of you- maybe just your eyes when you're stuck in the tear gas chamber. Well after a 3 days, my moles still looked the same, just a bit charred with whites on the edges of it. A WEEK later, still the same. The 2nd week, still nothing changed. Finally, it started to peel and fall off. However, they left a red mark, like the kind of mark if a part of your skin gets ripped off and shows just raw skin. I guess it looks better than the ugly black moles, but it'd be nice if my skin went back to normal. I've had similar procedure done elsewhere and my skin has healed nicely within a week. I don't know why it is different at this establishment, don't know if her treatment's too vigorous or what. My mom had 2 tiny moles on her nose done too and she said they fell off after a week, but there is ugly darker marks that's bigger than what her moles were. It has been more than a month now and neither one of us are satisfied with the results. I have red marks on my arms and my mom's nose has larger black ones- she completely regrets getting it done. I'm ok with mine only because it wasn't on my face. I would not recommend this place for mole removal, at least not for the face. Try it on other parts of your body, but your face is too precious to burn any part of it off. Definitely go to a professional dermatologist/ doctor even if it does cost more. You can't put a price on your body. Would you rather pay $10 for mole removal with poor results or $300 for it to be successfully treated? read more

To keep this review short and snappy, i was very pleased with the price and look of the first experience. eyelashes lasted 3 weeks, and were still holding on strong. The lady had told me that fills were $20 and the first set up is $75, so i was obviously going to go back. i went in yesterday for a fill, and the lady quoted me $95. I was shocked at the fact that the fills cost more than the original set up. other than that, she really does do a good job, but hopefully the 2nd set lasts as long as the first. read more

They do all your treatments with the door open so there's no privacy, and yeah you can hear the karaoke next door and its not clean. the ladies were speaking Chinese to each other and socializing while my eyes were glued shut while the lady individually put my eye lashes on. What u don't find out until u get there is it's only $45 if you (join the club) buy a multi-service package. I had a lot of trouble understanding the aesthetician who would be servicing me. It was not Sherry or Carol. The facial was okay. She frequently stroked over my eyes with the products she was using on my face. Other aestheticians usually avoid the eye area. But since it didn't burn, I thought I would be okay but I was sorely mistaken. My eyes are still irritated two days later. The extractions were the usual pain I've experienced from other facials. She trimmed my brows also, gave me a neck and arm massage, and a heated hand treatment. The place was small and noisy. I went during the week and could hear the music that was mentioned by other reviewers. But more distracting was the aesthetician leaving the room on at least 6 occasions (I lost count) to go get something from another room.
