The price is low. I found the experience very odd though in that Scott talked non stop about himself without being asked questions and it was distracting from enjoying the massage. It is the only massage I've ever had, out of about 10 that afterwards i didn't feel differently physically...at least not worse nor injured (which has never happened). Maybe he was having an off day but some of the topics he talked about were also not appropriate such as how he started off worried he'd get aroused when doing massage but first day in massage school the "Hottest" student chose him as a partner and he had not "Problems". TMI and didn't need all those visuals. No OK "conversation" to have with a client unless perhaps client brings up being worried. read more

I came to Scott for a prenatal massage at about 34 weeks pregnant. It was absolutely amazing. Definitely walked out feeling like on cloud nine. On a recent motorcycle ride to Fortuna from the San Francisco Bay Area, I pulled a muscle in my back so severely that I literally could not stand. Not a good situation to be in when you are over 300 miles from home and on a motorcycle. A quick search on the web and I discovered Serenity Massage. Excellent Yelp reviews so I gave them a call. Scott not only returned my call within minutes, he told me that he would come to my location to do the massage since I was incapacitated. He showed up within an hour with all of his equipment in tow. Scott evaluated the situation and told me what he thought the problem was and what he was going to do to help relieve the pain. He said he used several techniques during the massage which all felt great. The following morning I was almost pain free until I had a total relapse that evening. To my surprise, Scott sent me a text asking how I felt. When I told him about the relapse he was came back to the hotel within minutes and gave me an additional massage. The following morning my back was still a bit sore but I was able to ride my motorcycle all the way home. Scott is one of the best massage therapists I have ever worked with! My husband and I were passing through, staying in the Gingerbread Mansion in Ferndale. The on site therapist at the mansion was sick, so we went searching for another one for me. I am so glad I did! I have gotten regular massages in Eugene, OR and in Southern California. In both places, it took me forever to find my favorite therapists. I had to go through many bad ones in order to find the right ones. I was skeptical going into it because of this, but after my wedding, I was holding a lot of tension and stress in my back and shoulders, and knew I had to get a massage before I got back home. I absolutely loved Scott!!! With Scott, I don't know how he did it, but he just knew my problem areas and was able to focus on them without me giving him too much direction. His vibe and demeanor made me easily comfortable. Moreover, we had plenty of good conversation, and he shared many tips with me afterwards on how to relieve stress and anxiety from my body. He even gave me extra time, more than I had paid for! Really he went above and beyond my expectations. When I first started getting massages, I would only go to females because I am a little shy. Now, I usually go with male therapists. 5 stars is just NOT enough! This review will be long, but you should read it all! The first time I saw Scott, he was still in training at a local massage school. He was very warm and compassionate, eager to make me comfortable, and obviously ready to offer relaxation and pain relief. Even back then he was very intuitive to the needs of my body, and his abilities have only increased. Fast forward several years...I'm still a client, and he is my ONLY massage therapist. Just in case you are wondering: no. We are not related, nor were we previously acquainted; this review is from a legitimate consumer. For quite some time he has worked from his home, which is very warm, inviting, and relaxing! He has many types of massage oils and lotions, so don't be shy with any requests (especially if you have sensitive skin)! The table is nice and wide, comfortable linens, and a softer than normal face rest (yes!). His wife is very sweet, and they have a couple of spunky kitties that will adorn you with love. If you are allergic to cats, he will happily make other arrangements for you! I am allergic, but his home is very clean and I have zero effects. Now for the goods...I can be here ALL DAY writing this review! I have chronic pain, migraines and other headaches due to a neck injury. All of that trickles down into other ailments, leaving me a hot mess of OUCH. So you know that song, "the foot bone is connected to the ankle bone"? Yeah it is kind of the same way with pain- you might feel it in your upper shoulders, but it is probably coming from your hips or maybe your neck. Most people only know what they feel, and you can say that all you want to a therapist. A good therapist will find that trouble spot, PLUS the other causes of said pain...and Scott is just that guy! Because of this, never limit yourself to just a back/shoulder massage, let him relax all those muscles...your body will thank you! I PROMISE. He's also excellent at varying pressures, and incorporates other modalities such as trigger point, shiatsu, deep tissue, and more. This is especially great because not every trouble spot responds to the same type of movement. What's better than that, is he uses these modalities when needed AND it is included in your rate. He will ask before using trigger point, and also guide you through it (breathing is important). Personal comfort is important, so I want to highlight that you will not have to worry about this at all. As an example: people at a certain age, from a more modest period in time would not consider going to a man for a massage (especially in a private home)...even my 75 year old aunt is comfortable with Scott. My husband is comfortable with Scott. The first time I went to his house, was the very first time I had had a massage outside of a multi-therapist massage business. Not a worry at all! A few things that I love about Scott: 1. He is always LEARNING. Scott enjoys learning new techniques to help people in their quest to comfort and good health. Sometimes he finds things to learn just so he can help a certain client. That is dedication to healing! 2. He is FLEXIBLE. I have a slightly insane schedule, and he accommodates me early or late...usually late or weekends. Want a simple chair massage? Want only 30 minutes on a table, an hour, or two? No problem! 3. He is CARING. Scott cares about everything, a true gem in this world of harshness. He cares about you as a person, your health, and your family. On the massage table, he cares about your comfort and your pain (getting rid of it). He also checks in with you a day or two after your massage, to make sure you are doing well. I've had many therapists in the past, not a single one ever inquired into my well being. 4. He ADORES his wife. I don't think I have ever met a man so in love after 20+ years of marriage. He totally lights up when he talks about her, which I find very healing and relaxing in a way I cannot fully describe. It must be some kind of energy transference! Look it up, it is something that exists! 5. He is FUNNY! Last week he had me in stitches, I probably hadn't laughed THAT hard in months. He loves movies, and is an excellent imitator of movie lines- complete with voice impersonations! We've had a few years to foster a more personal relationship, but it really didn't take very long as I was immediately comfortable with him. (For me, that's usually a challenge, as I'm super guarded). Scott is worth way more than he charges per hour, so I hope you also consider a generous tip to let him know how well he did. We all love praise and feedback, but for Scott it is so much more than that. Because he cares so much about your well being, it also makes him feel good. This guy is legit. I got a 2 hour massage and he did mixed modalties. The major modality was trigger point. Omg. I have never experienced trigger point before, but now that is the only method of massage I want to recieve. I should mention that I work in an office on a computer 8 hours a day 5 days a week and as a result I need lots of massages. This was one of the best I've had. I recommend him to everyone. read more

Scott is one of the best massage therapists my family and I have ever worked with. When you have chronic illnesses- especially Lyme Disease and Fibromyalgia - getting a massage can sometime leave you worse off than before...so my mom and I have always been picky with massage. I would 100% recommend Scott. He is different than other massage therapists and it took a couple of weeks to really understand that his goal was not to just make us relax for and hour, but that he is actually over time helping heal our bodies. I've been going to see Scott for 5 years now. I am a bit of a finicky person when it comes to massage. I prefer long/extended deep tissue massage since it's hard to take the time away from work and responsibilities to take care of myself. Scott is the most accommodating and intuitive therapist I have ever had. If I go out of town and try someone else I am always disappointed and can't wait to get home to what I know works for me. Saw Scott after running a half marathon. He helped relieve bad shoulder pain caused by an injury (not running-related).
