It can be a very hectic time when you're expecting, but that's why Mothercare is great. They have all of that required stuff, so it's basically a one-stop baby stop, for both pre and post-natal gear. Baby clothes is but a mere fraction of what they sell here. And maybe the fashions aren't the hippest, but it's a god damn baby. It doesn't care what it's wearing so just slap a onesie with a monkey on it and move on to more important things like cribs, prams, breast pumps, car seats, soothers, high chairs, sterilizers, thermometers, literature and toys. I also love that this store is called Mothercare, not Babycare.

I went into Mothercare this evening expecting to find super cute baby-grows and spend my time oohing and aahing at all of the cute gear. Yes, it's a good shop and it has everything expectant mothers or parents probably need, but I was disappointed with the cute factor. They do have lots and they even have some quite cool kid stuff but I was able to make my choice pretty quickly for my favourite ensemble which says "hello world" (aah!). One huge question, why does a maternity store have an upstairs but no lift!? A little bit crazy for a clientele who are pretty much sure to have buggies or at least a baby on board.

Anyway we stopped in to see if they might have one of those headphones splitters in stock. Since you can reserve stock online just showing up at a store looking for something can be a bit of a gamble because they could be out of stock. They had what my parents were looking for. They also had a set of headphones Id been meaning to buy so I did. Normally I go online to see what's available and I put in an order. I like Argos for this. I don't have to waste time going from store to store. I just find what I need, see what store has it and put it on hold. Then I can go down a couple days later and get what I need. This location can get busy, but I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for my items.

There were desks lined up at the front with huuuuge catalogs on them. Next to the catalogs were these numeric keypads. The process goes like this: you find the items you want, key in their codes and when you're done you get a list of the items. You give it to the staff, they collect the items from the warehouse and bring them to you. It's kind of unusual, but it works! They have absolutely everything and since it is all stored, they don't have to worry about editing stock on the floor. As a result, they can sell everything under the sun without worrying about space issues. You can buy any sort of appliances, furniture, tvs and video games, computers, cameras, toys, personal care stuff like scales and razors, baby gear - the list goes on and on. If you're looking for something in particular, Argos should definitely be one of your first stops. They have a wide price range for pretty much everything. For example, I found that toaster for 9 euros!
