Our tub had large areas where the grout was gone. The room was not particularly clean (someone else's hair was on the floor behind the bathroom door.) And for 13 euros, I didn't think the breakfast was very good. On our last day, I tried to eat some, but ended up leaving it- and the coffee was not great. The orange juice was good- I'll give them that. Literally every where we ate was better (with the Hotel Catalunya being the best)We were coming from Madrid (before going to Barcelona)- so maybe our standards were too high, but our room was just sad. On top of the damage already mentioned there were stains on the chair, dirt marks and LOTS of nicks in the walls and on the wood furniture and there were uncomfortable twin beds- plus the blankets look like they are about 20 years old (you know that matted look blankets get?) Also, one of the two cards they gave us did not work. If I come back to Valencia, and I hope I don't have to, I would not stay here. We saw some other hotels- and went in to check a couple out. I would definitely look elsewhere. Trying to be positive, the staff is very nice and the courtyard outside is lovely. There are lots of places to eat around this area (but there are also other, nicer, places to stay!) Everyone in our group complained about this hotel. Everyone. I don't believe I met anyone who was satisfied. Maybe it used to be better- but I'd avoid this hotel and book something cleaner and more modern.

What more could one ask for? The price is very fair for this hotel. We received a complimentary water in our room. The accommodating staff held on to our luggage after we checked out, so we could continue to explore Valencia baggage-free! The hotel overlooks a small square with a fountain; there was live music during dinner each night out there. Quite enjoyable! Traveling to Alicante, Granada, Valencia and Madrid has given us the opportunity to get a good idea of how to rank hotels in this beautiful country. The Petit Palace is a boutique type hotel that has two locations in Valencia; this review is for the one located near the Palacio Dos Aquas. What separates the Petit Palace from its competitors is the staff. The people in Spain are pleasant, however, at times you will find some folks in local 'chain' businesses will get frustrated with you depending on your ability to communicate or expectations. This is not the case with the award-winning staff at Petit Palace. The team at the front desk is top notch and will go the extra mile to help you in anyway possible. The breakfast is decent (for Spain), the internet access is clunky with hand written codes provided at check-in that require 24 refreshes, and there is little parking within a couple of hundred yards. These annoyances are common to much of Valencia as it is a dense city where every square inch is being utilized. We stayed for a week and left my seventy-year-old mother in the room for a couple of days on her own. Mom only speaks English and was on her first visit to Europe. The crew at Petit Palace became her friends and made her feel comfortable at all times. This made Valencia a favorite place for Mom. Pros: The Staff is the best we have encountered in any hotel in Spain. Located in the middle of the shopping district and within walking to the train terminal, La Lonja and half a dozen churches and cathedrals. If you stay here, you can walk everywhere in Valencia. The AC is super cold in the summer. Breakfast is decent The breakfast is typical Spanish fare. (Meh- Neither pro or con) Internet access is free and offers decent bandwidth for Skype calls back home. Beds and bedding are ample and comfortable. They offer bikes for rent in the lobby. PP will also hold your bags in the lobby free of charge. The Staff is Great with first timers who do not speak Spanish. Cons: And they are quite minor. Petit Palace is a bit pricey, although the location will save you on taxi fare. The rooms are a bit tight as is the lift (elevator) You have to renew your internet code daily. No parking and drive ups for tourists can be confusing as you may drive through a sidewalk restaurant while navigating to the hotel. 24/7 coffee in the lobby would be nice.

Our room was on the smaller side (a standard room), but it was spotless, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the amenities were just right. What really set this stay apart was the attentiveness and warmth of the staff -- they made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. The location is perfect, tucked into a lovely part of Valencia with easy walking access to shops, restaurants, and attractions. Chiara literally told me it was my fault for not knowing the prices, even though they required a document to fill out for the laundry, because I didn't do it, they filled it out for me and charged me a ridiculous amount. Meanwhile as I'm arguing the charges, there's an older couple next to me that is arguing that they booked a room with a balcony, Chiara said to them that not all rooms have a balcony and even though it has a picture on the reservation doesn't mean they will get the room they want. This place will deceive you and cheat you out of money. Don't go.

Our room was spacious, especially for European standards, and most importantly, the bed was big enough. As some of you know, a double room overseas isn't two queen beds, but rather two twins. These were pushed together making it a king. Yaassss! Exposed brick and wooden shutters were nice too! While there is a lovely grand staircase, there is a lift as well. Shower pressure was great and toiletries were very nice. There is a bidet also. There is no AC, but it was not needed at night even in August Our favorite part however was definitely relaxing by the pool, which was surrounded by gardenias! It smelled amazing out there!!! And the food! The food was basic, but delicious!! We hit up the breakfast buffet for 13.50 Euros an adult/ 6.60 a child. It included a variety of fresh squeezed juices including Valencia orange (obviously), freshly baked pastries, cured meats, cereals, espresso, fresh fruit, and my favorite part, a bread seasoning station! That bread station was the stuff my dreams are made of. It wasn't anything fancy, just excellent quality olive oil, balsamic and sea salt. The bread itself was divine, so was the baked apple and espresso. A wonderful stay!
