Told us it was only a strain and that she could keep playing on it with Ibuprofen, and to come back in 2 weeks if it still bothered her. 4 weeks later, she still had pain so we came back. Had new doctor who actually bothered to examine the ankle and told us that it was a bad sprain and that she should have been off it all along. We were sent to PT to rehabilitate the ankle, costing us hundreds of dollars we would've avoided having to spend if Mr. Tshannen had bothered to get the diagnosis right in the first place. Spoke with Office Manager, but she continually refused to correct our bill unless we paid for yet *another* office visit. Ridiculous. AVOID THIS PLACE!!

Sometimes they made me feel like I was wasting their time by asking questions about my injuries. The office staff is awful. They are rude, condescending, and promise to return your phone calls but never do. I had to have many staples removed after surgery from a devastating leg break. I had/have nerve damage. I was screaming in pain as the nurse took out the staples. She rolled her eyes at me like I was faking it or being overly dramatic. Worst treatment I have ever received from any medical facility. Now I am having problems with the hardware that they put in to repair my leg. And again I'm dealing with a clinic that makes me feel like I'm a problem. They cancel appointments and promise to call and reschedule, but they don't. So frustrating.

While I was hospitalized at Overland Park Regional Medical Center last year Dr. Adam Kaye did the…read moresurgical procedure to insert a central catheter line (perma-port) to be used as an easy intravenous access site during my upcoming chemo treatments. It's a very quick and simple procedure, but not without some risk because the surgeon needs to be careful that the wires that are part of the apparatus don't actually touch the heart muscle as it's being inserted. In this case everything went fine and there were no problems with the insertion. Approximately a year later the perma-port stopped working properly, and I had completed the chemo treatments, so I had Dr. Kaye remove it at the beginning of April. This was another relatively simple procedure, done at the Overland Park Surgery Center under local anesthesia. It did involve a bit more tugging and pulling than I anticipated, but there was nothing painful about it. My only subsequent concern was that a good-sized lump developed afterwards under the incision that was fairly tender to the touch and looked bruised. Follow-ups with Dr. Kaye (a really nice, cheerful guy, by the way) were reassuring -- sometimes after this kind of procedure where there's a remaining pocket under the skin, where the port had been located, fluid can accumulate during the healing process. There was no infection, the small incision itself has healed nicely, and a month or so later the lump is now considerably smaller as the fluid is being reabsorbed and it's no longer tender. I just saw Dr. Kaye again to check, and he recommended hot compresses on the site to accelerate the shrinking of the remaining lump. That's certainly no big deal to do! I appreciate Dr. Kaye's accessibility and his willingness and ability to explain what was going on, both before the procedure and during the healing process. I've been fortunate to have never had any other surgeries, but that means that I didn't know exactly what to expect at each stage and Dr. Kaye's been good about explaining what I needed to know. Considering this experience, I'd be happy to have Dr. Kaye again as my surgeon if I ever need to have something done, and I can recommend him to others who may need surgery.

After having an x-ray, she was told she indeed had a fracture and was referred to Liberty Hospital Orthopedics. A couple of days later she was contacted by Liberty Hospital Orthopedics and was told there was nothing they could do and that she should see an orthopedic surgeon. What? Isn't that what they do? I then took her to our usual orthopedic clinic, Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance, where she was seen by a surgeon's assistant. They x-rayed her foot and they told us her fractures were minor and there was no need to do anything more than wear the protective shoe she was given, and her toes would heal just fine. Liberty Orthopedics created a huge fiasco that demonstrated huge incompetence. If they can't diagnose broken toes, what makes anyone think they can handle more serious orthopedic issues. Pitiful. Simply pitiful.

(Josh Lahr) spent time discussing the surgery before and time afterwards discussing the recovery. This review is late because, frankly, I couldn't believe my luck--no problems! Sitting in the waiting room, waiting for my appointment, I was reminded of a cattle drive. Yep, a cattle drive. TONS of people in the waiting room who were constantly being called back, shuffled, resurfaced and gone again. I fractured my fibula on my left ankle. My general practitioner suggested OK. It took them forever to schedule because the clerk never called me back. I had to be a public nuisance and leave a nasty gram on their Facebook page before they called me back. I was able to get an appointment, though, within a few days. This is a high volume outfit. I was told that some doctors only do wrists, other doctors only do ankles, and so forth. They could have forwarded my admission paperwork to me well ahead of my appointment. However, they did not offer that option and I was in too much discomfort to ask. So when I got there I had to spend about 20 minutes filling out the paperwork, balancing a clipboard precariously on my lap. It took over an hour to finally see a doctor. Waiting, waiting, waiting. The other people in the waiting room provided good people watching entertainment for me, though. I was actually getting very bored and worried about losing cell battery. No charging stations were available, either. When I was finally called back, I was taken for x-rays. Now I had just had a full set of x-rays two days before and they had those in my file. I was very curious why they had to take more x-rays 48 hours later. When I finally got into a room, I had one technician come in and examine me. Dr. Stull finally came in after.. more waiting. He was very pleasant and capable. He answered my questions and he had a good sense of humor. He showed me the x-rays and explained my injury. I liked him a great deal. The technician who put my cast on was very nice, too. She was helpful and she did a good job. The only thing I wished from her would be less diplomacy. This was new territory for me and I wanted her honest opinion about things. I asked questions like "Do most people get the waterproof cast?" and she gave me the standard "Some do but others don't" reply. I was truly wanting her input. She was quick and thorough and very nice, though. She even helped me to my car and I appreciate her kindness. I think they know what they are doing but it seems a bit impersonal with the high volume. They just seem too busy. You get the feeling you are a number and not a person. I liked everyone I met and they were very helpful, just hurried.
