Ultimately, we chose Northwest Children's School because the instructors are state certified teachers with prior background experience teaching elementary. Their curriculum fits perfectly into the desired skills set I'd like my own incoming kindergarteners to have. Additionally, I thought the teachers were an excellent mix of both genuinely nurturing, and holding high expectations for student behavior and learning. As a kindergarten teacher, I know how hard it can be to corral a classroom full of kids - these ladies do it wonderfully! Iam amazed at how much they do during a short, half-day program. My daughter brought home a project each day, and always seemed to have a new song she happily wanted to sing for us. I am satisfied that she is more than ready for kindergarten!

It is a state-funded preschool that is free for families who qualify. Preschool is Tuesday-Friday and there is a morning class(8:30am-11:30am) and afternoon class(12:15pm-3:15pm). Although there are no classes on Mondays, the office is still open. Since this preschool is put on by Skagit Valley College, parents can actually earn elective credits every semester just by having their children attend the school! They do tours of the college so you can see what it's all about. Even though I am not currently taking other classes at SVC, I love the fact that I can still utilize their services being that I'm enrolled by having my son attend the preschool. There are a lot of great other resources for parents to help support their children whether it be educational, emotional, financial, etc. There is a parent council for those who want to get more involved and they have frequent luncheons so you can meet and socialize with other parents. Towards the end of the year, kids who will be going to Kindergarten will get to go on a school bus and get a sneak peak at a real grade school class room. This is an absolutely wonderful preschool with amazing teachers and staff! My sons teachers were Miss Patricia, Miss Jill, and Miss Sonni. They are all very attentive to each of the children and you can see how passionate they are as teachers. I really appreciate all that they do and we will miss them terribly!

She always had a way with kids and I think she also has like 10 nieces and nephews so she has gotten a LOT of real experience with kids. Her son is also extremely smart, so since the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I'd suggest getting your kid enrolled with her if you want to see them flourish.

This place is the best…read more The staff is great, they go out of their way to take great care of our kids. They run a day care but there is a learning curriculum also so your kids dont just play with blocks all day. You dont have to go everyday as long as you schedule in advance, like every M W F or something. They really are teachers not babysitters, they teach manners, social skills and some school stuff like letters and they read in a group to the kids. Great place to take your kids.
