Just outside of town, but right next to the river. Hearing that amazing sound of the water rushing is so soothing. The rooms are clean and perfectly stocked. The people that run it are beyond pleasant, friendly, accommodating, and full of knowledge you just have to ask. And it's right across the street from the riverkern deli and general store. That place has everything you can imagine plus phenomenal food and coffee. And you're just a 2 1/2 minute drive from town if you want to go there. I'm definitely staying here again. read more

This is such a cute place along the river. We stayed 2 nights and absolutely loved it. The staff were very friendly and provided us great recommendations in the area to visit. They have their own beach area that you can lounge on, a grill area that lights up in the night time. The rooms were very well kept and clean. The A/C worked phenomenally and the water was nice and hot for a shower. There is a store/cafe across the street that we went to for breakfast each morning. Every year my husband comes up to camp for the weekend with this family. I'm picky and need a shower and hate the heat so he agreed to get a room for the weekend for us and we just drove to and from his mom's site.This room was so cute, clean and cozy. Conveniently located across the street from the liquor store and a short distance to the camp site. The staff was super sweet and welcoming; even when we had an issue with the doorknob and key. We even were walking distance to a calm spot on the river and perfect for our toddler. We will definitely be back. read more

I booked this place since it wasn't far from the Rodeo. The rodeo was cancelled and rescheduled for another date. I called and talked to the manager Gina and she was nice enough to change my dates of arrival for a one time courtesy. Unfortunately, the rodeo was cancelled in Kernville and rescheduled for another location. I figured I would loose the money might as well take my son on a fishing trip. When we arrived Gina was there to check us in. She is full of energy and super nice. Explained everything and made us feel so welcome. When we got in the room and turned on the light it was still so dark in the room, kitchen and bathroom. I thought there is no way I can do my makeup in here. I didn't bring a hand mirror to take outside to do it. I wondered if it was just this room. It's not, my friend checked in to another room on Saturday and I waited to see what she thought. First thing she said "it's so dark I can't see in here" so I guess all the rooms are like that. What I can see with my blind eyes in the very dim light the room seemed clean and beds were comfortable. If you are coming here to fish there are many places one being Riverside park that I would recommend. The water down by the lodge is full of fishing line left by others. We broke two lines and gave up after two hours. It is very beautiful just to relax down there so it was still enjoyed. There is a fish cleaning station at the lodge if you should catch some. At night Gina gets the fire going on the patio in the rear of lodge. There are chairs and a table if you want kick back. Quiet time is 8pm and pretty much everyone stuck to it on our visit. Make sure to get any supplies you may need in Kernville. Once you drive out here there isn't anyplace to get food or supplies. Looks like the store across the street was closed and for sale. read more

Right next to the Kern river, you can literally walk down the back and have breakfast, lunch or dinner. There's a bench and large rocks to relax on or dip/swim in the water. The staff was friendly and the hotel room wasn't bad. Expected it to be a bit cleaner during this COVID pandemic. The dishes, coffee maker were not cleaned thoroughly and the shower did have black mold on the edges of it. It was convenient having a small grocery across the street for coffee in the morning and they do serve food. Note: Definitely head to Vons before coming here to stock up on food and necessities which is around 15-20mins down the mountain. Staying at Sequoia Lodge was a lovely experience. If you're looking for somewhere, quaint and peaceful, this is definitely the place to stay. Jim Morrison helped us check in and he was friendly and funny. The room was very comfy and cozy, and they've been provided some dishes in case you wanted to use the grill on one of their beautiful patios overlooking the river. Sequoia lodge is about a six minute drive from the Kern Brewery so if you want go into town it's not a far drive. My fiancé and I were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back for our next visit to Kern. read more

I've been coming here for over 12 years. I love this place. I couldn't get enough of this place two weeks ago. So my friends and I rebooked it again. Kelly and Anthony are the best hosts. They keep this place tidy and no rowdy guests either. Always so peaceful. And thank you two for making sure we were well taken care of. We arrived late and Kelly kept and eye that we were still coming. She has our room set at a comfortable temperature and the lights on since it was getting dark out when we arrived. Thank you again. Robin and Jeremiah were amazing hosts, I kept bothering them for coffee and creamer since I like my coffee with both, and they were both sweet. Robin answered all of my questions which i felt bad because I would call her multiple times during the day lol had a great time at the lodge, it was very quiet and the sound of the river was very calming since I live in Los Angeles. The room was cute with the kitchenette, the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbor but it isn't much of a bother. Room comes with AC and Heater, it was really cold so we used the heater, no cooking is allowed inside the room but they have 4 gas grills and 2 charcoal grills plus a fireplace! We used the grills through out the whole stay. It seemed that my wife and I were the only ones using the grill since the other tenants were out and about. PLEASE LOOK AT HOW BEAUTIFUL THE SKIES ARE AT NIGHT!!! I loved staying here; it was my first time but it won't be my last! ALSO it is dog friendly :) read more

UPDATE: Aug 19-21, 2020 Me and my boyfriend came back for another stay and fishing trip! Another wonderful trip, with the best service from our new favorite - Sequoia Lodge! I cannot tell you how much we now love it here. The views are beautiful, and a small walk to fish and swim in the Kern River out back! You can also drive up Mountain Hwy 99 to find more fishing spots along the pull offs in the road & to the Johnsondale bridge (30 minutes away). Love love love this place! Can't wait for our next trip :) ~~~~~ I stayed here July 10-12 in a King room with my boyfriend, and we loved every moment of it. From the second we checked in, we received amazing and friendly service at the front office. Our room had its own parking space out front - a mini fridge, microwave, dishes & cabinet space in the kitchen/dining area - a TV that had Direct TV/HBO, as well as the comfiest King bed ever. Just a short walk down the stairs at the back of the property and you are riverfront! There is a perfect calm in the river out back to swim, fish, or just sit and enjoy tine with friends & family! The lodge has its own fish cleaning station for those lucky enough to catch some fish! This was the perfect little getaway at the cutest place. We were looking for a place to stay for the Kernview Rock And Blues Fest. We felt lucky to find a place in such a short time. We used our card to hold the room. They said they needed to charge the card for the first night. We agreed to that. But we said that we could pay cash for the remaining two night. That did not happen. They charged our card without our permission. I was not a happy camper. As I wanted to pay cash for the room. On top of that, there is a sign in the front office saying no pets allowed. While the managers had their large dog on a leash. Lastly, the managers were less then friendly. Never staying there again. read more

My husband and I spontaneously decided to head to the area for a much needed mini getaway and luckily they had vacancy. The rates were very fair. The room was clean, the queen sized bed was comfortable, and we appreciated that they had a coffee maker. Our room had an AC and heater unit along with a ceiling fan. They have BBQ grills for guest use. We grilled some burgers our first night and enjoyed eating outside in one of the patio areas. Everyone that I interacted with on their team was super friendly. And let's not forget that the Kern River is literally a 1 minute walk from the lodge! My husband went fishing and while he didn't catch anything he had a great time. The location and lodge is quaint, naturally appealing, fitting to areas natural beauty. Very nice! The place was renovated not long before I arrived in April 17'. The lodge has a very natural rustic appeal of an earlier period. Was generally well kept, at least in my cabin. As for the rest, couldn't say. I'm disabled, a T-12 paraplegic, independent, traveling from ATL, and require a degree of accessibility that's not common, especially in the bathroom. So, having called prior to arrival, my sis who lives in area, went to lodge to confirm it'd be okay. Was pleasantly after arriving due to the fact it's bathroom was well done, w/room to move, suitable for person(s) in wheelchairs The only complaint I have? Well, it's not what in expected. I called months in advance to reserve the room and was quoted a specific price per day, but after arriving was never told about any increase and had secured the weekend in writing. Well, sadly enough the day I was leaving and closing the deal the daily increased by $50 per day. When signing out I dealt with same person (the manager) I reserved on phone months earlier. She didn't care when I said my room was quoted a lower price, only responded that the cabin/hotel owners increased the price and was nothing she could do about it. So unfortunate because I enjoyed my stay and would go back there each yearly visit, but not now. If you're in a wheelchair the room is perfect for you. BIG BR, but he damn sure up front, before you sign in, that no rate change shenanigans can surprise you! read more

This is a great lodge! The decor is charming and rooms are spotless. Comes with a small kitchen, fridge, microwave and kitchen table that seats four. The beds are comfortable and air conditioning works great in the summer heat. We enjoyed the view and the short distance to see the river. The kids loved the river rocks and sitting under the trees. Nice to be off the main strip of motels in Kernville. Feels more quiet and quaint. read more

Kern river, CA what a hidden gem. We absolutely enjoyed our time in the river; at this small secluded area called "bubbles beach". The water was absolutely refreshing and cold, the kids had a blast. Our family experience at sequoia lodges was one to remember. Unfortunately we dealt with the worst customer service experience ever encountered from the lady behind the desk (the tall young mwas really pleasant.) I truly believe she picks and chooses whom she's nice to, unfortunately we are still dealing with these types of individuals in this 21st century. I absolutely regret settling at this lodge location, it was my husbands last minute decision. Everything was absolutely filthy and stuffy inside of the dormitories. I was truly afraid of catching some type of bacteria here. I had to empty out several of my disinfectant spray's, to be at peace. I don't recommend staying at this particular lodge, at the Sequoia Lodges. Save yourselves, time, money and agitation. The old lady Diane was beyond rude and unprofessional. Room was dirty found colorful pebbles and dirt all over the floors. Beyond outdated. The minute we checked into the lodge she questioned us about why we booked through Expedia with her grumpy voice and about the number of kids... Diane: "are you sure it's only 2 kids because if I see another kid I won't give you the room!" This is only a couple of the many incidents we went through. She's so full of herself that she wouldn't even allow my kids to play outside freely without her bad looks and approaching them for some not existing issues (kids weren't even playing by the flowers and she would say they're walking by the flowers) REALLY DIANE?! The kids were confused as to why she was mentioning the flowers when they weren't even close to them....in the end of the day it had nothing to do with anything but the fact that we were there period. She's a 100 percent prejudice individual and she'll pick and choose who can have the nice private back rooms. If your not what she prefers "white" you'll be staying in the front rooms so she can keep an eye on you and be a b to you over everything. My husband has been here multiple times (enjoys the location) through out the years and always mentioned about her bad attitude but I never thought she would be this hateful after meeting her for the first time. DIANE, FIND ANOTHER JOB THAT DOESN'T INVOLVE COMMUNICATION WITH HUMANS! *** TO THE OWNER RESPONDING TO THIS YELP: Shame on you that you will have the audacity to respond this way...how dare you accuse our family of trashing the place (are you kidding me?!) we're grown adults, not youngsters! And just for your information; we're Europeans as well. We even swept after your management because it was so filthy inside and outside our porch when we got there. We had no communication with any of the guests and had no issues with anyone there besides your grumpy old manager so, not sure why you would think that we disrespected the guests. We enjoyed our stay at the Sequoia Lodge tremendously. The location was peaceful and quiet and a quick drive to town in Kernville. The rooms were clean and comfortable and I loved the rustic decor. Check in and check out was simple and easy. Being able to sit out under the pergola near the Kern river and have a nice morning cup of coffee and conversation was fantastic! Watching the White Water rafters go by was fun too! The ease of getting food or things you need from the General Store and Deli across the street is an extra bonus! After a rainy night drive through the mountains, we arrived at sequoia lodge and were greeted by the sweetest couple. They were very kind and welcoming which made the arrival that much sweeter after a long drive. We walked into our room and felt like we were home! Management was very kind, welcoming, and helpful. The room was clean. They had a hangout area overlooking the river and there is a convenient store across the street. I received a phone call a couple hours after checking out from management letting me know a watch was found in the room. I accidentally forgot my Apple Watch. They made sure to get it back to me. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here mid-February for my birthday. I believe the lodge is under new management as of this month--although we never stayed here with the old management. Our room was *extremely* clean and the owners were kind but not intrusive. We enjoyed eating by the river and watching the sun go down. The rooms are a bit dated but we actually find that charming and for the price and location we couldn't ask for more. We will definitely be back. read more

We stayed at this lodge two weeks ago and had a great time. This trip was a whole new experience. Onsight manager, Steve, was extremely unprofessional and rude. Our next door neighbor complained about spotty internet and lack of cell service and Steve told him it must be due to his devices. I then told Steve we were experiencing the same thing, and we'd be leaving a day early due to my husband's bad back, and lack of internet, but not to worry, we'd clean up and be out by 10:30 and that way he could get another customer. I asked him to refund me for the night we didn't stay since we were out well before 10:30 a.m. He refused, accused me of whining and told me that his boss is already mad at him for offering discounts. He then started yelling at both my husband and I in front of other hotel guests. I said, "Steve, please don't let your emotions rule you. This is business, nothing personal. He continued to yell and I told him that his behavior was extremely unprofessional. I've been in business over 40 years and would never treat any customer this way. SUPER charming, super clean, super convenient and perfect for family's with small children. We came on a whim last minute and were throughly impressed. Loved the amenities. We were able to enjoy the river all day and come back to nice rooms with showers and cable (not shitty cable either, directv with movie channels!) Well worth the $ you'll spend. We stayed here for a few nights and absolutely loved it! It's cute, cozy and the owners are sweet. The location is perfect and close enough to our favorite spots to go fishing on the river. The room was fishing themed and had just about anything you needed. My only thing I'd like to see inside the room is a stove top. The mini fridge was still plenty big and the microwave worked out just fine. They have a fish cleaning station outside and there are plenty of grills to use. We initially went for friday night and Saturday night, but we loved it so much we decided to stay 2 more nights! We had room 1,very cozy , on out last day the sweet innkeeper Diana went out of her way and upgraded us to room 17, over looking the river. It was a dream hearing the river at night from ur bed. Ok, let's level set, this isn't an overly fancy place to stay. When you come to the Kern River, much like any recreational destination, why do you overly care about the motel/hotel anyways? You should be thinking about location and does it serve the need. I will say that from the management to the room to the location this place was perfect. We were greeted and taken care of throughout our stay. The rooms were clean, simple and perfect for a night hangout and a place to sleep and shower. Location is great, short trip to our rafting/tubing spot and close to any dinner spot. The Riverkern General Store is right across the street, they have loads of beer and ice as well as decent breakfast and lunch options. Also I will say we had a really big group. They were super nice dealing with the noise and I think they respected us adhering to the rules and cleaning up. Will be there again next year! read more

Have been coming here every year. This year it looks like it's run by someone else. But it's still all the same. Comfortable rooms with mini fridges and sink. Working AC (the heat over there is no joke). Communal BBQ grills that are clean. Also, conveniently there is a small store across the way where you can purchase all the necessary items you need and also order some food when you just don't want the hassle of BBQing. There is also a small water front area...a little rocky so definitely not for kids. But if you don't mind the walk you can take a 10 minute hike to a place called Bubble Beach. My family and I stayed at the sequoia lodge over 4th of July weekend. It was a great vacation. The staff were friendlier than I expected and definitely better that other hotel locations in kern. The room was definitely not a 5 star hotel, but as I expected. The only negative thing I'd have to say is that there was no WiFi up until an hour before check out. This could have been for a variety of reasons but the bottom is I was told there was access to WiFi and had none my entire stay. Nor did any of my other family members staying at sequoia lodge. The manager was nice compared to what reviews have said ( may be under different manage meant now). Other wise a good stay and clean establishment. The only other thing I'd comment on were the attached living quarters of the management and their family? I than booked on line and received a confirmation number. I did not receive any cancellation notice from this place. As far kern lodge I was on a waiting list and it if wasn't for them who knows where we would have stayed on Friday night. After I explained to them what happened they couldn't believe the customer service we received. Again I didn't think my cancelled was done intentionally, however your whatever attitude promoter the review. Remember your in the hospitality business. read more

The Sequoia Lodge is such an awesome gem in Kernville located right on the Kern River. I happened to literally stumble upon it when I was inner tubing up the river with my family and my inner tube had popped going over a rapid a ways back. I had been drifting in my life vest with nothing in sight. I was so stressed out miles away from where I was staying with my family waiting in the river while I walked up the path from shore to try get help or an inner tube. I walked through the property to the market across the street. They wouldn't help me with a tube, even after I explained my dire situation. No money, no phone, no inner tube to get back up the river with my family. I even offered for them to hold my wedding band since it was all I had to insure I would be back to pay them for a tube. Out of the three working there no one would help me even though I told them I was stranded... I was on the verge of tears, when I saw the office to Sequoia Lodge, thinking it was my last hope. I explained my situation to Diana, the manager. Without hesitation she gave me a patched tube of her own, and walked me back over to the market to buy me a backup tube in case hers wouldn't keep air down the river. She insisted that she didn't want anything for it, except to help someone else when they are in need. She took the opportunity to do an act of kindness for a total stranger. She is exactly the kind of person that I would love to give my business to the next time I'm in town. She was the hero that saved our only full day in Kern. Meeting her and the kindness she showed was the blessing that changed our whole trip. Thank you Diana for being our Kernville Angel. Just had the most wonderful stay at The Sequoia Lodge! This is definitely the best place between Lake Isabella and the Sequoias. I came to Kernville for a job I needed to do in Lake Isabella. Found this place on TripAdvisor. The attention that is paid to the property shows how much the owners love this place. The room we stayed in was perfect and sparkling clean. This place is located right on the river so you can step out of your room and walk about 50-100 ft (depending where your room is) and have your feet in the water! I'm giving a shout out to Diana, the housekeeper/manager, who really goes the extra mile to keep all the guests happy! If I ever return to Kernville this will be the place for me! P.S. I heard from around town that the owners had a bad experience with some innkeepers they had hired to live on the premises and run the hotel. The people did not work out and were the cause of some of these bad reviews. That situation has been remedied. read more

They completely screwed my reservation also indicated wifi was available and there was absolutely no service. We saw the owner walking around looking at their satellite but truly I've worked in telecommunications and what he needs is an upgrade - literally too cheap of him to do it would have cost him no more than $50 for an extender. read more
