Everyone was super friendly as soon as I walked in the door. The check in process was pretty fast, standard insurance checks, ID and consent forms as well as a quick photo for their files. I got a few checks done before the actual eye exam. One took a picture of the back of my eye and then another flash in the eye and lastly a pressure check. I waited to see Dr. Lee who was so kind. She explained what she would check for during the exam and was smiling and connecting with me in a really genuine way. I left with my latest updated prescription and my follow up date in one year! Very smooth process with such amazing staff.

Most importantly, her knowledge and expertise is unparalleled; she knows so much about every possible treatment option out there. I did hours and hours of research and had so many questions for her, all of which she had detailed answers for. It's obvious that ophthalmology is not only her career but also her passion; she is constantly following the newest advances and research in the field to be able to prescribe the most effective treatment plans. What truly sets Dr. Piluek apart, however, is her profound dedication to her patients. She has a rare combination of technical brilliance and genuine compassion, making every patient feel so listened to and cared for. She addresses concerns with empathy and thorough solutions, and is always willing to go the extra mile (or ten) to ensure her patients get the best possible treatment. Dr. Piluek's deep compassion and impressive skillset make her the best doctor anyone could hope to have, literally transforming lives. I've never seen such a dedicated and effective medical professional, and I am beyond grateful for her. Eyes are one thing that you never want to mess with, and I'm so relieved that I have an ophthalmologist I can trust 100%, and who always provides the most advanced care available. Her technician, Milen H., is so competent, helpful, and kind too! Incredible team all around.

Her bedside manner is just beyond friendly. We were so grateful I was moved to tears - considering we were talking about my young daughter's eye. She knows her stuff. We took the medicine she prescribed, holding off on the super antibiotics (which we had in case we needed them), and they worked. If you are lucky enough to see Dr. Piluek, you will be in great hands.

My optometrist took a look at the image of my retina that popped up on her screen and said, "You…read moreneed to go straight to the ER, don't go home first, they need to operate on you tonight. Your retina is detached." I froze in the moment - it was around 530p. I had stopped by after work since the very bottom of my field of view was cloudy starting the previous day. I was expecting to hear that it was due to my allergies and would clear up on its own. No such luck. I ferociously searched for retina detachment treatments (something about a gas bubble in your eye?!?) and recovery rates in the Uber on the way to the Stanford ER, where I was admitted and checked out a few times as more of my field of view started to go dark. Dr. Rahimy was on call but not at the hospital. I spoke to him on the phone a few times as he walked me through some options, trying to plan around the potentially chaotic nature of the operating rooms at the ER. He (and the rest of the staff at the hospital) made me feel confident in the diagnosis and treatment plan (the works - a plastic buckle around my eyeball to maintain shape, a carbon-fluorine gas to take the place of my eye liquid, and some lasers), and I was scheduled for surgery at 11p. At 3a it was all over, and my wife drove me home. I didn't get to meet Dr. Rahimy that night; the anesthesiologist had put me under before he was there. I have to say that despite the freaking out that had been going on earlier in the evening, everyone I interacted with made me feel comfortable. Thanks to the nurses for getting me a warm blanket before I got wheeled over to the OR. I am completely in awe of the treatment as well as my body's ability to heal. I've done my complete regimen of eyedrops (4 different kinds, one starting at 8x/day) and worn my rad sunglasses (which block light from different directions). For the first few weeks I taped an eyepatch onto myself every night and showered very carefully to avoid injury and infection. No lying on my back. I've gone from only being able to detect patches of light and dark and color to regaining full vision in my injured eye, seeing all the changes as the gas has been replaced with eye liquid. A month in I was allowed to do light exercise again, with the eye about half full of liquid; whenever I would jog, tiny bubbles would form in my eye and hang out at the gas-liquid boundary. As of this afternoon around 4p, the bubble has disappeared completely, right on schedule. I'll kind of miss it; it was a good reminder of how the eye perceives the world upside-down, the spherical nature of my eye, and to have better posture. I finally got to meet Dr. Rahimy at my 1-week and 1-month checkups. He and his staff are excellent at what they do and very attentive. I've had a clear understanding of what I need to do and what to expect. And over the past few months I've heard that Dr. Rahimy is the best at what he does - from my optometrist, from a neighborhood friend, and from a mutual friend of ours. I'm amazed that I have fully regained vision (slightly worse, as expected, due to the change in my eye shape). He also said there was no scarring (thank you and great job, Doc!). There's been minimal discomfort for me - some very infrequent slight soreness in the first few weeks. I feel incredibly fortunate that Dr. Rahimy is my ophthalmologist. He also practices out of the San Carlos Sutter Health location, which is a very familiar office to me, just a few minutes from my house. Two months has gone by quickly - in that time we've canceled a vacation and I haven't been over the Santa Cruz mountains (couldn't go over 1000 feet in elevation). Excited to be able to do some of this again. Tonight I cut off my green bracelet that I've been wearing for the past two months. People ask me if it's from a concert and I've had to tell them it's so that medical professionals don't do anything to me that would make my eyeball explode. Looking forward to getting some new glasses and my 3-month checkup!

I had been thinking about and researching upper eyelid surgery for several years, but I was always…read morehesitant especially when it came to having any kind of incision on my face. That all changed when I came across Dr. Jayaram's website and began watching her educational videos. Her approach felt thoughtful, precise, and natural, which gave me the confidence to schedule a consultation. From the moment I met her, I felt a strong sense of trust. She has a calm, reassuring presence and clearly explained what could be achieved. I never felt pressured and only guided and she gave me confidence that I would be happy with the results if I chose to proceed. She also has a very polished and professional presence, which added to my comfort level. I also want to mention Sky, her office assistant, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and organized. She helped coordinate my appointments seamlessly and contributed to making the entire experience smooth and pleasant. The office itself is beautiful and welcoming, which reflects the level of care they provide. After the procedure, I will admit I was initially nervous to look in the mirror, which I think is natural. I was even surprised that I was able to drive myself home afterward. I had expected to feel comfortable going out with sunglasses after about a week, but I ended up giving myself closer to two weeks, which was the right decision for me. At my one week follow-up, she carefully checked my healing and asked to see me again at one month. At that visit, she took my after photos and I am now happy to say after three months that I am very pleased with the results. Looking back, this was a thoughtful and worthwhile decision, and I am truly glad I did it. Dr. Jayaram has a gentle touch, a precise eye, and a natural aesthetic. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone considering this procedure. Overall, she is a master in her field. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

She is also very accessible if you have questions/concerns. Both Skye and Dr J are very friendly and I felt very comfortable during every visit. She canceled my surgery the night before at 7pm. She mentioned something about my MRI results…read more I had the procedure done two weeks prior to surgery. She had plenty of time to look at . But she didn't. She waited until the last minute to call me at work. I was so excited, happy and was looking forward to it. And the fact that it was a medical issue and the insurance company approved it. And so I was all in. I was well prepared for this. I did my own research online on what to expect and what not to do after the surgery. I had to pay my full deductible prior , and I have no idea what the total cost is. I did everything what the nurses said for me to do, and to be at the hospital on time. I mentioned to my manager , I will be out on medical leave and disability, Then to tell him the bad news. He was shocked. What am I supposed to do. He already removed me from the work schedule , that has been prepared 2 weeks in advance. He gave me the day off of the supposed to be surgery, and will figure out on how to get me back on. Until that is fixed, if not I'm out of work for that time and no pay. I had my disability form on my end filled out, and went to her office to drop it off, and it was closed. So I slipped in the paperwork under her door. This is very unprofessional, and not acceptable to me. We're not talking about a simple procedure that can heal in a week. We're talking about my eyesight. She was highly recommended and I trust my doctor's opinion. And to tell him what happened and to refer me to another surgeon. It's a totally waste of my time, effort, stress and money of going back and forth to her office and to be on time for my appointment.
