I came in with my boyfriend to get a restock of a product that I love and once I got the product, I figured might as well walk around the store and see what they have, I came across these "Sephora gift sets" and I thought it was so cute. While I was looking through the gift sets, I noticed that one of the bags was a little open and I was trying to zip it to close it, I touched the zipper for 2 seconds and one of the coworkers/or manager (who has brown/blond ish balayage hair), told me "please do not open the products, thank you" in a rude and loud tone where everyone near me and my boyfriend can hear and gave me a look after that. I understand that it's her job to make sure no one is stealing and that she may of thought I was trying to open it but she could of been a little nice about it or came up to me personally and I would of explained to her that I was trying to close the zipper. After that, I continued to walk around but felt bad, embarrassed, and uncomfortable to the point where I didn't even buy the product I needed to restock and me and my boyfriend left. I didn't get the name of that employee but needless to say, I didn't really have good experience. read more

I went to this location today because it was in route to a few places I had to run errands at and didn't feel like driving to the store I normally frequent. I had a return to make which went well. The young lady at the register was very nice and helpful. Inc so finished I decided to look around. This is where things took a turn. A sales associate with an orange head wrap on stood near me at the Patrick ta display. She didn't offer to help and was just staring so I asked her for assistance. Upon telling me the product that I was inquiring about wasn't available I proceeded to ask about any other suggestions for a similar color. She stated no there is nothing else. Before I could ask another question she walked over and asked another customer if she needed help and walked away. I continued browsing the store without a single store associate offering to help. There were several in the store, although some were with patrons, others were standing around or conversing with each other. I saw the young lady who helped me at the register who's name was Bre so I flagged her down and asked for assistance. Even though she was on the register she took the time to come to the floor to assist me and return back to the register. I'm truly thankful for her assistance. If she hadn't been so personable I would have left without making a purchase. However, after today this will be a store that I won't frequent. I'll stick with my normal Sephora location. read more

This is a BRAND-SPANKIN' NEW location inside the Westfield Hawthorn mall. I am SO happy they finally got a Sephora. I usually end up doing my mall shopping, and then having to drive all the way over to Deer Park to hit sephora - because I detest the Jcpenny version of sephora. This was a very nice store. Seems a smidge smaller than Deer Park - but it beats having to do a bunch of extra driving! It's beautiful and bright and laid out nicely. I only knock one star off due to the size. Shop Sephora. You won't regret it. Fabulous brand name items, employees who know what they're talking about and are educated on the "latest things". And their return policy can't be beat! You don't like it? Bring it back. They carry such an amazing selection. Between all the different brand names, and items from makeup to perfume to hair products to facial serums and hair straighteners - they HAVE IT ALL. Two stars because most of the workers are nice but a lady at the front desk don't remember her name but she was blonde with two high tails with freckles. Very rude and she should not be working there. She was rolling her eyes every second at everyone. If she doesn't have the patience to treat customers with respect she should work somewhere else. Uncomfortable, discriminated, and humiliated. I went to my local Vernon Hills Sephora with the intent to purchase several items and to simply look around as I usually like to swatch makeup samples before I buy them. I was also with my husband, and he was carrying my bag as he usually does because he wants my shopping experience to be great and peaceful without a purse in the way. I got greeted the Sephora way, she was sweet and I told her "I'm just looking around but thank you for asking." So as I'm searching I feel that I'm being watched but I ignore it. I was hungry since I had only had breakfast this was late in the day, but I wanted to buy myself something so with my husband holding my purse I try to look for a piece of candy. Immediately, from my left side an employee looks at me (I ignore when I notice she's standing and staring because I have nothing to hide so I continue) and she asks if I need any help. At this point my treat is out of its wrapper and I tell her "no thank you I'm just looking" and I smile. I put my treat in my mouth and BEHIND MY HUSBAND is an employee STANDING and STARING at me and WHISPERING in her black head piece. LITERALLY Standing and watching. Not moving. Not asking me if I need help. Staring. I turn around my other side and the previous employee is talking in her head piece as well. So I tell my husband were being watched. And he says "it's okay we have nothing to hide." He says with a warm smile. So I continue to look and ignore what they're doing to us and finally the employee comes walking from behind us and leaves. So I looked at my husband and told him I wanted to leave. I felt sad, very uncomfortable, discriminated and humiliated. It was enough. read more

The girls here are great! I vocalized my desire for cruelty free brands and they actually showed me a few ones I didn't know about! Store was organized, clean, and the staff was knowledgeable. They had the things I wanted in stock, which is nice. The Sephora rewards program is awesome - I love being able to chose a new mini product to try out! I also had a birthday present to redeem. I just received the greatest service in my life! Christina helped me find a skincare system that worked for my acne. She made great suggestions and also shared her struggles with acne which made me feel a lot better about mine. I asked lots for questions and she was quick to answer and very knowledgeable. I also had questions about a new Foundation that recently came out. She sat me down and matched me. Then did my whole face with simple makeup. I am definitely going back to this senhora. read more

Rant time. Because I am LIVID. So, my boyfriend, Joey, and I decided to take a trip to the mall today. I was planning on buying some makeup from Sephora; however, we don't get paid until tomorrow, so today I wanted to go in, check to see what I wanted, so tomorrow I can run it, buy it, and leave fast. Today I didn't "doll up" and ended up going wearing sweatpants, an old work shirt, with my hair in a messy bun. When looking around and what lipsticks I wanted, I looked to see how many they had left. A lady came up, with the WORST attitude (I should've asked for her name, but I just remember she had a sleeve or partial sleeve tattoo with a lighthouse and some flowers) and told me not to look through and kept asking questions being extremely rude and mean. When I turn around, there's two mall cops behind us. I look at Joey and I'm like "this is a joke." Of course she was nice to all the girls who had shopping bags and dressed nicely, etc. Joey and I then walk out and we were followed ALL throughout the mall by the cops. Even though I showed NO signs of doing anything bad (which I had no intentions of doing so), I was profiled because of how I looked. I can't wait to go back in tomorrow when I actually look nice to see how different the employees will treat me when I look "cleaned up" and they see me pull out my cash. Will be posting this on ALL social media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, snapchat. From now on I will be buying my makeup products online from the actual name brand website, not Sephora. read more

They have a decently clean store but they have WAY to many people working. I was looking at Origins' products for maybe 3 minutes and 4 different workers came up to me. I felt harassed. Understand it is their job to ask the customers if they need help but they have way too many people doing that. I was very uncomfortable and just wanted to get out as fast as possible. read more

I've had problems with Sephora in general not being helpful at all which today finally was not a problem. However from the time I walked into the store the only man working there followed me and if he wasn't following me he was staring at me as if I was going to steal. None of the others treated me this way perhaps he treated me that way because of my race which at this point you'd think that people have realized people of a particular race do not always steal . As part of Saturday routine, I make a stop here when they first open at 10am and occasionally during the week as I work down the street. This store used to provide great customer service, I'm quite disappointed to have to write this. Within the last 6mos, customer service has turned a 180. During my Saturday visits, I noticed they now hold what appear to be staff meetings in the middle of the store ignoring customers. You can hear them talking about who has been promoted, hours, what they need to push that day...all details I do not care to hear. I do not know why these meetings cannot be held in the back room before they open the store. After the pow wow has concluded, the managers huddle in a corner talking about what appears to be schedules or other topics while the staff either check their makeup or continue to ignore customers. I even overheard 2 associates apologizing to customers for being late to start their scheduled makeovers because of these start of shift meetings. Checkout experience is hit or miss, this last weekends visit was a big miss. I was asked by the girl at the counter if anyone assisted me during my visit, I said no. She had no response, took my payment and circled the online survey for me to fill out. After submitting 2 online surveys, per their instructions with no improvements made to this repeated poor customer service I called the 800 Sephora # and was told someone would be contacting me. I'm still waiting as I write this. I'm not a snob when it comes to poor reviews, but with given the great customer service I have come to enjoy by Sephora knowing they want to provide the total experience keeps me a loyal customer. Hopefully someone at the Hawthorne mall location will see this and make changes, until then I will head to JCPennys or online. read more

Love coming here for all of my makeup needs. There's usually sales going in which is nice. As a beauty insider member I love the point system. I wish that the samples you can get for points where more exciting. Most of the time it's not actual makeup which is a bit disappointing. However! Staff was very helpful, i had danielle who went out of her way to try to find a specific shade of eyebrow pencil. I was trying to find shades of orange for an upcoming dye job, she couldn't find it but asked me to come back after i had the color done so we could maybe use a mixture of products to get it right. i'll be back to take her up on the offer. read more

I visited this location today for the VIB Rouge Flash Your Card Event right before lunch. I was very excited to get a mini makeover (per the email invite) as I love testing new products and being shown how to put them on only makes me want to buy them even more. Today unfortunately I received the worst service ever (and I come to this location almost weekly) the girl that was asked to help me hardly wanted to put any product on me and when I finally got her to test a bronzing PRIMER on my face, I asked her if she had a bit of time to do a mini makeover on me because of the event because I also wanted to try blush, and she proceeded to tell me that her putting PRIMER on my face was a mini makeover so that portion was completed!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I spend thousands of dollars on products from Sephora every year and she couldn't even put the translucent powder she was telling me I would need to set the primer on me! I have never had such bad service here, any other time I come here the other ladies I have worked with have tested product on me and shown me best placement, etc. and I don't even have to ask them to provide a makeover service. I have checked the sephora website for their definition of a mini makeover (below is directly from the website): "Update your look in a 15-minute session with our Beauty and Skincare Advisors.
