This was a process that started in June 2025. Because of my medical history every precaution was taken to ensure I'd be safe and I would be able to tolerate the invasive procedure. I think I flew through this surgery because of all the precautions and preparation of Dr. Milligan. Every single person I encountered at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital was kind, caring, knowledgeable, I felt completely safe while my nurses Nia and Gwen continuously monitored my BP fluctuations. Martin was very kind. Tyler explained everything that was done during the surgery and the reason it was done. The Nurses assistant was fantastic. He assisted me in getting up, dressed, etc and not once did I feel awkward. The PT team was great also. I was able to get to the bathroom with minimal assistance but with safe guards to be sure I didn't fall or injure myself in any way. Overall I couldn't have asked for a more perfect surgery experience. Right down to the food. It was delicious and I ate as much of it as I possibly could. I'm sure I emptied out their ice machine! They kept me supplied with as much as I felt I needed for recovery!! Thank you to all of you!

The waiting area is large and comfortable. the last time I went, we drove up to a platoon of First Atlantic Restoration vans. We learned that there had been a bad water leak. All outpatients were being sent to the nearby Brock Cancer Center. Lab & Check in personnel from Leigh had also been moved over to the detour location. When we drove up yesterday the front doors were blocked. There was a large sign pointed south that read entrance. We drove around the building and found no entrance. On the way back a person was walking down the sidewalk. She pointed us to the one door that could be entered. It was obstructed from easy view by the large entrance detour sign. Walking in I found so much completely different. One was first sent through security, which had never been in the lobby of Leigh. My purse was searched before I went through a scanner. The front area, which was previously a nice large entrance and desk, was now covered in plywood. The employees have always been nice and friendly. I was called back into the lab just as I finished registration. My regular bloodwork was done quickly and I prepared to leave. Sitting down in the main lobby I texted my ride that I was done. Of course I took a few pictures. When I picked up my purse I glanced at my arm. Blood was pouring out from the bandaid that covered what is normally just a needle prick. It was all over my arm, hand and shirt. Stunned, I finally moved when the really nice Security guy told me I'd better go back to the lab, Returning to the checkin area I asked if they could buzz me back in. They also stood there stunned before one asked if I had just had lab work done. When I affirmed they finally took action. The same person who drew my blood cleaned me up & used a big wrap around bandage on my arm. She said she had thought it would be fine. I really expected more of an apology. Thinking back I did remember that she had the drawer open a little longer than usual deciding what to use. Did she use the wrong size needle? Now I'm a little worried about the level of staff experience, which I've always counted on before. Even though the bandage was tight I was afraid to take it off until last night. I'm a regular at bloodwork and IV's. I have absolutely no problem with needles or having blood drawn. But today the inside of my arm looks like someone slit it with a knife. There's at least a one inch line where there should be an almost imperceptible prick or some bruising. I'm really debating as to whether I should change my preference for lab work.

I would give Dr. McDermott, his NPs, and Nursing staff 5 stars all day every day (even though they…read morecould not figure out what what my issue was and it took 2-3 visits to them and 4 visits to the ER to finally locate the problem), but at least they tried, and the NP I saw was EXTREMELY sweet and competent. The office staff, however is rude and lies. When I moved back to the area they were a close provider and I noticed on their sign that they are also a family medical practice provider. So when I went in for my first visit I asked that I be established as a regular patient and that they be my PCP. "No problem." they said. My second visit there I was presented with a huge bill and when I questioned it, I was assured I was being billed for primary care services. After my ER visit I went in to be seen to let them know what my final diagnosis finally was and that I needed to get some medications refilled that had been prescribed the ER. It was THEN I was told that they only provide "Family medicine" services for those who need like 3 months of medications at a time (you know the easy things things they can bill crazy high prices to the insurance companies for I imagine). So, now I am sick, have multiple health problems, had been told by them ON MULTIPLE occasions that they were my PCP but was then left high and dry. I attempted to find a PCP, but since they have all my records and are the provider I had been seeing, when I needed paperwork filled out because of a need for an ADA leave from my job, no one else would see me or address the situation. So I went BACK to them to explain and the office manager punched into her computer and advised that I had only ever been seen as an urgent care patient. I said that can't be right because I specifically asked, and was told that they would see me as my PCP, "Well that's what's the computer says....lol" She said . She advised that Dr. McDermott was no longer accepting patients for primary care, and I helpfully suggested they may want to add that to the "Family Medical Sign" and was rudely advised that they can put anything they want on their sign (evidently even when it is misleading at best and false advertising at worst.) Needless to say, I will be contacting the Board of Medicine to report this as well as to my insurance company as I was told I was being changed for PCP services and NOT urgent care, and will also be seeking relief in small claims court with the assistance of my attorney to try to recoup the money I already paid and/or at least have my bill reduced to the PCP rates. I may not prevail, but them having to answer the complaint from the medical board and attend a court hearing should MORE than make up for the inconvenience they have caused me. SO if you need MINOR (and I mean minor) care, and are willing to pay ridiculously high prices, by all means go here. Dr. McDermott and the nursing staff are very very nice. The office staff and manager, however need some serious training in customer service, ethics and transparent and correct billing practices.

The lovely woman checked me in and handed me over to two other lovely ladies who were very kind. They got my weight and asked some basic questions. One of them actually had the same pair eyewear Larkin frames as me (we chatted about our magnet frame collection) before telling me to pick a seat and wait to be called. They had me seen very quickly, maybe it was 5 minutes before I was brought to the back. My ride didn't even make it in the door yet. They placed me in what felt like a cubical. Only wide enough for one person. Matt (in-take nurse) was very kind. He put in my IV. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to communicate that the vein he went for was a rolling vein and the hardest one to stick. He did an amazing job getting the IV needle in with all the uncontrollable tremors I was experiencing. If my arm hadn't bruised, I would have been absolutely shocked. I was moved into a make shift "private room", which I'm very grateful for. Dr. Michael J. Bono, MD was my doctor and, would you know it, it was his last shift EVER (42 years) before retiring. It was GOD who blessed me as his last patient. Turned out he and my Like-a-Dad (EMT) actually worked together 20+ years prior. Dr.Bono made sure to get the answers I needed and the treatment I so desperately needed. He gave me a few referrals and recommendations on great physicians. There was a gorgeous lady nurse who kept checking in on me but I was so out of it that I did catch her name. I wish I got it because she was so sweet and funny. She kept my spirits up. She felt like a guardian angel. Before leaving (mind you I'm completed drugged up on meds they gave me) Chris (nurse) made sure to get a very important message through my drugged up head. I remember seeing just his face with a flat cap on, playfully yelling at me about the do's and don'ts on the prescription they had given me. This was the best experience I ever had with a hospital. I was scared to death and you all worked together to keep me calm and playful. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. If I ever end up back there again, I pray to have the same experience.

So according to this I am allowed to do the above, when the staff exit the room, but was tole I couldn't. Went online to the website for CHKD and it states the following: "Important Note About Privacy Out of respect for the privacy of others, please do not photograph or take videos of other CHKD patients and their visitors. Also, please do not share information about other patients. If you would like to include CHKD staff members in a photo or video of your child, please ask for their permission." So no videos of others or staff without permission. So again I can take video and photographs of my own child. So unprofessional when you work somewhere and don't know your own policy. Just a shame as I only wanted a photo of my child and my wife and was told, "No."
