Highly recommend this! Tina transformed my skin dramatically. I went twice so far - for a facial and for a "pumpkin peel". Going to Marina's is not only great for the facial, message, and chit chats with Marina, but it made me more aware of my skin--taking more action to maintain it. I have been following her recommendations--exfoliate, cleanse, tone, moisturize. OH AND DONT FORGET ABOUT SUNSCREEN!!! SOOOOO IMPORTANT! Background: I was using Neutrogena's Acne Stress Control Cleanser & Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Cleanser. OMG. NEVER AGAIN. These two products broke me out! and i started getting a lot of Milia...A LOT. This started in October '13. Started going to Marina's in Feb '14, now April '14, next time June '14.. i should have started earlier; i cant believe I let the nasty face go on for 1/2 a year! anyway, I call this my "road to recovery"...Marina's treatment is very miraculous and it's also just great because it makes you realize the flawless potential your skin has. I rarely do any reviews on Yelp but I had to do one for others with very sensitive skin like me!!! It was my first time ever getting a chemical peel. I got the PCA peel 6 days ago by Marina. This was what she said will happen after the peel. - Takes a few days to peel and flake off. - Skin will look a lil darker which is normal. - Day 4, your skin will look illumious. Since it was my first time she's only doing a light peel not strong one that day, but as I continue to keep getting them she can increase it. On the website, it says the peel was 30 mins but it was only 20 mins. When I came in for my appointment, she had me fill out a questionaire asking things about my skincare and allergies. I mentioned to her that I had very sensitive skin. She said it will be fine. So I trusted her since she was experienced with this. My experience with the peel was unfortunately the complete opposite from what she told me what should happen. I had an allergic reaction the next day that lasted 3 days. I texted her about what happened. She said not to panick but get Benadryl cream. Well I kinda knew that was what I needed already. She didn't tell me that she was sorry that this happened to me or anything. I didn't go out that day because I was horrified about how red, bumpy and itchy my face was. I waited it out until the next day to see if it would calm down but it was still just as bad. So I went to the store and got cortizone extra strength with vitamin A & E. I put it on the rest of the day and night. The next day my face calmed down finally but still red, bumpy and peeling. It's day 6 today and my skin is finally not red anymore but still peeling because it's recovering from the allergic reaction from the peel. For those with very sensitive skin like me to beware of chemical peels because they are not the way to go for our skin types. I gave her two stars because the peel was only 20 mins without any facial. I thought she was going to at least give me a lil facial. She basically just cleanse, scrub and put products on my face. read more

Let me start by saying that I am fiercely loyal to my regular esthetician and lady that does my Brazilian wax and eyebrow threading, but my esthetician moved to del mar and her prices have increased a bit and I'm looking to save every dollar. I purchased her yelp deal above and checked out her website for pricing and the different facials she offered. I decided to go with the European facial (50) w/an aloe Vera peel (extra 10), Brazilian wax (35 online special) and eyebrow wax (15). Marina was able to accommodate me for a Tuesday evening at 645 pm. She takes clients later in the evening on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Shes located in a salon next to Zion marketplace in Kearny Mesa. That parking lot is a zoo so I like that the salon has assigned parking and was able to find a spot easily. Her space is in back of the salon with its own separate entrance and reception area. I loved her space and that it was separate from the noisy salon. You dont even notice that you're in a hair salon at all. Very clean and I loved the decor and tranquil environment. So we started off with my Brazilian wax. She explained that she uses a hard wax. I've been doing sugaring with my usual lady and was pleasantly surprised that the hard wax seemed to be less painful. Score! Some strays here and there that only I end up finding when I get home, but not a big deal to me at all. Will def have her wax my va-jj again. On to my eyebrow waxing. Pretty straight forward. She trimmed and reshaped and cleaned up. A few strays here and there and not the shape I'm used to, but not bad. However, I will continue to get them threaded with my regular lady. My facial was great. I liked the products she used and this is clearly where Marina shines. You can tell she is very passionate about her facials. I have a little bit of aftermath from the extractions and the peel, but that's to be expected. She really cleaned the pores of my nose out as I told her that area was a concern of mine. I had a really great waxing experience here! It was a little hard to find because it's inside a hair salon, but it took me about 10 seconds to just ask someone where it was. I was especially stressed out too because I had gone to the wrong address at first, so I was pretty late. But luckily that didn't matter at all and Marina was really nice and accommodating! I had only gotten a wax once before, but it was in Italy so I wasn't sure how different it would be in the US. The best decision you will ever make. Marina shared a salon for years with my (now retired) hairdresser. The few times she politely (and confidently!) offered her services to me I gently declined and went about my day. I was not a big facial person and am psychotic about my brow waxing (I also smoke, eat crappy food and worry..none are good for the skin!). She once told me that she knew she could make a difference in my skin care and if I would please just give her a shot. By happy chance, I was in a pinch and she got her shot. I was a believer after one facial (w/brow wax). My skin never felt so good, looked so good...or STAYED looking good. Marina makes you feel instantly at ease and extremely comfortable. Also, she can read a situation well (some visits I am chatty and some visits not). She changed salons in 2011...MUCH better than the other salon (the owner of the old salon always had that grouchy teacher/crotchety old neighbor vibe). I also like that she is personable but still treats you with respect, even after numerous visits; you always feel like she appreciates your business and that she values you as a customer..I find that is really rare these days with talented people (they are usually stuck-up, as if you're lucky to get their time). Also, she did not try to over sell me on products but asked what I was using, if I felt like it worked for me. Then she made some suggestions, let me know what I should keep using/doing, added some new product (but did say that I did not need everything right-away , told me to wait on some stuff, or to come back after I had used all my current product) and educated me how to best care for my skin [*in a way that was realistic and doable...hey, I'm busy AND lazy]. I will say that, after a bit, I did convert to everything she recommended on that first visit (including face wash//lotions/potions and I also changed the makeup I use, and found an AMAZING body wash ..all on her recommendations). She knows skin and she knows products! Other notes:: I shave my legs but I needed to wax them once and she did an amazing job (know how some places you go for bikini or leg wax and when you get home your jeans have left lines of blue fuzz? ...that does not happen here!). Also, the quality of wax was ridiculously good (how do I know that? Let me start by sharing my story with you. I have always had a perfect skin on my face and never had any problems. About a year ago I started having some horrible breakouts, which kept getting worse and worse. I saw three dermatologist, but none of them have ACTUALLY helped me.
