When she first came to my house she did a thorough evaluation by asking a ton of great questions, including what other family members would like as well. Working on what is most important to us first. Giving great advice on what I can be doing to keep up the organization. One thing that she opened my eyes to is where to keep things in the house so I can actually use them. I started juicing and crocheting again!!!! This review is here to warn you about her because she does not take responsibility for her actions. 1. An entire year later she is blaming her tardiness on a "terrible storm". Fact: we live in San Diego and we have great weather almost ever single day. 2. She claimed my review was reported and removed. Reviews should not contain personal information only business specific information. 3. Everything I wrote is 100% true. And a real experience. Why would I lie about you? Most individuals don't write reviews because they don't have time. I'm taking time because this is important and it is factual. I have every text she sent me and every email. Professionals show maturity. Others give excuses. 12/2018: I came across an ad while looking to hire someone for interior design and decor and organization. I had a timeline/deadline that I made clear from the beginning. stress for a deadline. I had to have my home organized for a real estate transaction. I contacted Katherine and ended up having a horrible experience. She might be good at the actual "job" but her attitude and unprofessionalism leads me to NOT recommend her to anyone under ANY circumstance. I was not able to judge her ACTUAL work. Because ---- The way she treated me was undeserved and wrong. For anyone working with Katherine Wethington, you will notice the red flags from the very beginning. I should have but due to my impending deadline, I did not have many options. The first red flag, was that in our very first conversation, I noticed that she spent more energy talking about ensuring that she did not waste her time than actually finding out about my actual job. I assured her that I had real work that needed to be done. And I was not an individual that flakes on appointments. I shared that I was a professional. And most importantly, I respect the time of others. Secondly, when it comes to payment she discussed working immediately and getting paid immediately even before giving a full consultation And prior to seeing the scope of the work. I suggested that I offer her a 1 hour or 2 hour fully PAID consultation/initial visit so that she could see the job and then finish it up on a second visit. She quickly refused and said that 1 hour was not worth her time due to the distance (25 to 35 minutes away). I said no problem that I would pay what she asked because I needed to meet my deadline BUT is wanted to confirm if there would even be 3 or 4 hours work since most of the materials I ordered wouldn't have arrived by the date/time of her initial visit. Thirdly, is tardiness and unprofessionalism. On the morning of our appointment, I received a text from her asking if she could come just a little later because there was a power outage and she needed more time. I text back that it was fine and that I had been up very early and I was prepared for her whether she came at 10amor 11am or 1130 that I was ready. Then the shocker, she text me back that she didn't feel comfortable coming because I said I was in my pajamas. Now I know this review is getting long but I assure you this is factual. But the point of the length of this message is that Katherine sent me a long rant/text that was longer than this message (no exaggeration) of how MEN are trying to dominate the world and women won't take it anymore. She talked about "classic male responses" and male domination. And how women will rise up and not take it anymore! I couldn't understand where this was coming from. I text her that I truly felt we were having a misunderstanding because we were texting. And that if she would just call me, I would explain and she would understand that I meant no harm. I assured her this. And that I wasn't alone at home. So that she would not be in any danger. I apologized for any misunderstanding. None of the above is an exaggeration. This is Katherine's true and factual response to me. She said she did not feel safe. I told her that I cannot afford to miss my appointment because of a misunderstanding that she should please call me. And I would explain. But she refused. Then I told her that my wife was not in the country which is why I needed to hire her. And that I would personally pay for my wife to make a long distance call to explain that I support all women, and all people of all backgrounds. And that I just wanted to keep the appointment that we agreed to. I would highly advise against using Karen's for any services. She is temperamental, self-centered and unprofessional. I suggest therapy and professional counseling for her. She is probably not a bad person. But she evidently has gone through traumatic experiences with men in her life. M None of this is exaggerated. This is 100% true.

In fact, some could argue that we were doing more harm than ANY good over time. One of the major challenges for us was simply deciding what to keep and what to get rid of. Jen and Tori not only put both our basement and garage in order, they they coached us every step of the way on how to make decisions about what to keep, where it should go and what we should get rid of. In addition to helping us clean out and organize both our garage and basement, they advised us on how to maintain the newly organized space. Designated areas were logically established, and all storage bins had a purpose and a label. But a few weeks later, they began coming at me with another $3300 in additional charges. And despite promises to stick to one contact person, there are now a total of at least seven or eight. Nothing is transparent or consistent. They are also extremely disrespectful in their written correspondence (addressing me by my last name and with no salutation, as if I were under their command in the army, e.g., "Hey, Smith!"). Apparently, this company's billing antics have become legendary in California (see Reddit, even just a glance). Other people have fared worse than I have--at least I managed to get them to complete the work, though now I have to waste time disputing bogus bills.

While they work on hourly consult rates which is a refreshing option for many of us, on a recent project, my business was clearly not valued. Calls and emails were not returned for days or weeks, plans not sent as promised, all eventually resolved through my repeated follow-ups. The justified reason is that a bigger client was requiring all their time. Customer Service 101. I pay my invoices on time and without question. I will set aside the sales tax issue which required multiple emails to be resolved. The last straw was the requirement to pay for a 4th consult by a sharp deadline or my consult would be canceled. What choice did I have? I will find an interior design firm that will appreciate my business.

Nikki helped me to imagine the design of my home when I first moved in, and then again a few years…read morelater. I wasn't able to afford all the changes at once, but she helped me create a plan so that I could create the space I wanted over time. Now that I'm working from home, I get to spend every day in a space that I'm inspired by because Nikki helped me to create it. She challenged me to be bold and see things differently, but was guided by my own goals, desires, and limitations. Every day I look around my home... now, my work space... and smile, as I think about our work together.
