I've been back to Senses a few times now, and I've never been disappointed. Great food and service in a usually busy restaurant.

Ali Qapu Persian Restaurant - Persian dip is the delicious option in this Persian restaurant

This place is quirky and unique, with interesting brick arches everywhere, Persian artwork on the…read morewalls, and cute patterned plateware. Atmosphere-wise, it's definitely a unique gem in this area. Food-wise, it's pretty decent. They had a few vegetarian options (adas polo, kashk-e bademjan, and mirza ghasemi). Those last two are eggplant, which I'm not wild about, so I went for the adas polo and specified that I was vegan (although I'm not sure there's anything non-vegan about adas polo in its original form). Adas polo has rice, lentils, and raisins. I love the Persian-style long-grain white and yellow rice, so I enjoyed this dish. The seasoning was interesting and the raisins added a sweet, exotic flavour. The service could've been improved. It was a little inattentive, but we didn't mind. We came on a late Saturday afternoon before the usual dinner hour, and the place was pretty quiet -- just us and one other couple. Basically, I wouldn't rush out of my way to come back out here, but it's definitely a nice and unique eatery, especially for this area.

This restaurant is beautifully laid out with options for indoor and outdoor dining. Although we were seated promptly, the service was a little lack lustre. I would put down to the fact that our server was under the pump as the other servers were attending to maintenance works and take away orders. Despite this, our server was quite helpful when we asked questions about the menu. We made our order and waited an appropriate amount of time before our dishes came out. I ordered the Khoresht-E Gheymeh which came in two plates. One was the rice plate with a touch of saffron and a side yoghurt based accompaniment with cucumber and sweet raisins. The meat dish was a pile of boneless lamb laying in a lime flavoured red gravy with split peas with "French fries" (the chips labelled as this) sprinkled on top. I quite liked my dish but wouldn't go out of my way to say it was delicious. I found the rice to be a bit too much for me, despite my valiant efforts to polish it off. For dessert we ordered the sweets platter for take away (we were way too full to eat it straight away and I can't say no to baklava!). We got four different types and 6 or 8 of another orange doughy, syrupy type. Unfortunately I don't know their names but they were delicious as always. The or a ge sweets were a touch sickly sweet but it still went down a treat for me.

Located on Blackburn road in Doncastor East, Limelight Café has managed to do what countless…read moreprevious occupants of that block couldn't; stay in business. Not only has Limelight café proven that they are above the rest, they have proven that they are far, far above the rest. With fresh brightly lit and colourful décor, the interior is clean and streamlined. The tables aren't too close together and they tend to play video hits on the television screens at each end of the room. The service here is awesome, albeit relaxed, and it is immediately obvious that it is a family business. To make it obvious to them that you are ready to order, close your menus. Otherwise they would rather not rush you, which I really appreciate. It has the capacity to seat 75 people inside and 75 people outside. I've never been there when it is completely packed but I have driven past and seen quite a few people inside. You can also hire out the place for functions and birthdays - this seems pretty popular and with such great design it is easy to see why. The food is Mediterranean and priced well with mains costing around $15-$25. There are some really good vegetarian options with the Veggie Burger being my favourite. Otherwise they make a very tasty Calamari with Polenta. For dessert you absolutely cannot go past the Mars Bar cake - it is mouth wateringly delicious! Best of all, Limelight Café is open every single day from 8am to 11pm so there is no excuse not to pay them a visit.

The food is decent and the wait staff energetic and attentive, but overall, it just feels like another generic suburbian cafe/restaurant hybrid, and the menu reflects this (they have everything from spring rolls and curry laksa to souvlaki, chicken parma to steak, fish and chips etc). Nothing special about it, but nothing bad either.
