There were no follow ups or additional tests done yet was charged for an additional office visit for discussing things outside of the physical yet those questions were prompted by the PA. The billing office will frequently code the visits incorrectly, leaving us to be on the calls for hours between Novant's billing department and the insurance company to dispute the bills. There appears to be major incompetence of the staff and billing support. I reached out to the office but they were unable to help.

To call these guys "medical staff" will be a stretch. Came in to get a prescription which I was on…read morefor years, and they claimed that I failed in a drug test and that I have an abnormal amount of a certain substance which I never took in my life. I did countless drug tests in the past and never failed once. The nurse called and informed that to me like she's trying to get rid of this burden and go on with her day. I immediately asked to speak with the doctor who admitted me - Brian Hummel, which simply avoided me and never called me back, despite me calling about 4-5 times the following days. The nurse who spoke to me, by the name of Emma, simply told me that since the anomaly is so high, they simply wont give me the prescription, and that's all. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as a doctor or a medical professional, if you see something so unusual in a patient who never had history of substance abuse, isn't it your job (not to mention a sworn testimony) to try and get to the bottom of this? Because allegedly the amounts that were found in my blood were life threatening. I went to the police the same day because the only explanation I could think about was that I'm being poisoned somehow. The cop told me that I should go back to the clinic and ask them what protocols did they use, because he already seen cases like this before that people failed in a test because the protocols that were used weren't efficient enough. Moreover, a simple research about the topic will quickly show that many things can cause false positive result in this specific substance test, such as energy drinks, caffeine and more. But I guess to think about it all was too much to ask, since the staff obviously had better things to do then to show basic human decency and help me. When I called the clinic and asked them for the protocols, the person who answered the phone was really rude and told me that she didn't know what I'm talking about and quickly hang up.two days later i took a private test which needless to say showed that I'm completely clean. But all of this doesn't matter of course, because who will waste his time being a good person and a true professional these days? By the way i tried to call a few times since, and never got a call back from the doctor. Thank you novant health for a lovely experience.

CONTROLLING, MANIPULATIVE, HOLDS TEST RESULTS HOSTAGE, TALKS DOWN TO YOU..DO NOT GO !!!!!! READ…read moreFURTHER TO UNDERSTAND WHY. I switched from Atrium to Novant having spoken to several friends that had great experiences with Novant. An appointment was set at this facility for an annual physical. The appointment we as to be expected, patient history, family history, blood work. Now comes the issues. My test results came back. A "scheduler" call to schedule a follow up appointment. I asked why I need an appointment as I have yet to see my test results on the portal. I also stated that as an analytical person, I would like to have the results posted so I could see what issues existed and do my research to be able to ask intelligent questions. She said she was not able to do that. Ok low level employee, I understand as I do not allow my employees to release information either. Then I get a phone call from, Suzette Schlafly, the office manager. She informs me yet again that I need ro schedule an appointment. I again told her I would not schedule an appointment until I had the opportunity to review my test results and if necessary could the PA Samantha call me. It is at this point the conversation took a turn that I was not expecting. Suzette said that the PA does not have time to call me and that is not her job. Then she told me that I needed the appointment so they COULD TELL ME what my treatment plan WOULD be. She also talked down to me in a manner that inferred I was not intelligent enough to advocate for my own Healthcare. I was extremely frustrated. I told her that it was "my body, my blood and my choice" and she no no right to hold my test results hostage. I also told her that if I needed to set an appointment to get my test results the appointment would not be pleasant and they would regret the appointment if this was how they were going to unprofessionally conduct themselves. I called back in 2 days hoping someone in authority had understood that keeping a patient's personal test results and then talking down to the patient was not an acceptable approach. I called Suzette and asked if my results had been released to the portal. She stated they were going to release them onto the portal. They were never released them. I went earlier the next week and moved to another practice that have requested my test results and I have accordingly scheduled an appointment to discuss the results. If the office manager lacks the communication skills to speak to patients in a manner that is not; arrogant, demeaning and belittling she does not need to be in that position. She is obviously nothing but a mouth piece for the practice. As such, this reflects poorly on the doctors at this facility as this level of arrogance, belittling and manipulation either comes from the doctors, as this is their attitude or they do not know how to manage their staff. Either way this culture showing such a disdain and lack of respect for the patient and indicates you are but a number they need to process. I have never had a doctor's office believe they are so omnipotent and you the patient are so stupid that you are not allowed to see your test results from your own body. THIS HAS BEEN UNEQUIVOCALLY THE WORST experience in Healthcare and with a doctors office in my life. It ranks highly as the worse experience from a customer service perspective. I HAVE HONESTLY HAD FAR SUPERIOR EXPERIENCES FROM THE VETERINARIAN THAT TAKES CARE OF MY DOGS. The response below proves my point !!!!! This person has the very same culture as the others in the office. A professional office would have reached out and worked through a solution. No, you are not a person and they aren't professional. You're too uninformed, too uneducated and not intelligent enough to deserve their attention unless you comply. See how their response goes. Demeaning: how I do not understand the medical industry and corresponding federal guidelines. How they view facts of their practice as threatening. How can a factual and articulate review be threatening? Note also, if I did not bend a knee to their pressure and manipulation I was avoiding medical services. Notice how immature and unprofessional by listing medical conditions ? This exemplifies every issue referenced above; intimidation, manipulation, unprofessionalism, arrogance, threatening and contolling. Again, their response proves the arrogant, demeaning and ridiculing nature of the culture in this office. NEW PATIENTS, make your own decision about the care you deserve and the provider you choose. Know that as a fact, the above was precisely what I experienced. The below response PROVES every one of my points precisely. Amazingly, the new office that I have chosen, released my results and I went to the appointment. At no point, as inferred below, did I want to avoid nor delay a physicians consult. I simply desired to have an opportunity to understand my test results.. My body, my blood, my choice.

In fact, of the many doctors I have to see Dr Kanelos by far gives the most time and through explanations. I have looked over all of the reviews here and it is very revealing that there are large percentage of 5 stars and an offsetting amount of 1 stars. Ironically, all of the 1 star reviews had to do with money they had pay or lack of professional care. It's routinely receive follow up callsfromLIsa to see how I am doing after they notice I have went to see another doctor (specialist) for a condition I am being treated for. It's typical for people to leave reviews that feel they have been overlooked or underserved. The one star reviews have complained about 2 things: 1) a sum that they owe the. practice because their insurance didn't cover the tests the doctor or the PA ordered for the patient 2) a long wait 3) rude front office staff. As to number 1 if you expect god care then their are some things that the doc may order that will have to be paid out of pocket. 2) The same people that complain ed about having to wait beyond their appointment time are the same people that said that the doctor didn't spend enough time with them. This is ridiculous. In my 25 years of seeing doctor Kanelos there were many times that I was seen later then my doctors appointment. However this is the same with every doctor. The good ones give the patient the time they need which often results in others having to sometimes wait beyond their appointment time. Finally, I have never received anything but courteous service from the employees on Dr Kanelos staff.

After my appointment the week prior, I was prescribed the wrong dose, which caused me to go through withdrawal symptoms. Anyone who has been on an SSRI long-term knows how serious and destabilizing that can be. I called multiple times trying to get it corrected. The front desk did answer and marked my messages as urgent, but Michael never responded regarding the medication. Days went by with no resolution while I was dealing with withdrawal. The issue was only addressed after I physically went into the office. It is unacceptable to mishandle long-term psychiatric medication like this. Patients should not have to chase down their provider to receive the correct prescription.

I feel I needed to say that because they force you to sign a paper before you go in. Which only leads me to believe this is a constant problem. still charged me for an office visit & not annual which should be covered completely. I never asked branton anything specifically about anything . So there was nothing special for her to go over and tell me. And if there was, because I already stated when I first went in the appointment that I just want to talk about anything related to the annual wellness exam, she should have informed me at that point . Which she did not . There are times that she got on a subject, and she just kept going on. Felt she charged me because she doesn't know how to manage her time and embellished what she did to cover. Had to ask her if she was going to be checking my eyes and throat etc. Cause I know that's what they did all the other years at the annuals and she seemed annoyed and said she had other appointments waiting but she begrudgingly did it . She was nice when she first came in but then got an attitude at the end of the appt. Last year when I went for annual wellness appt, she didn't come in until an hour after my appointment time. Went to Lawrence as well at another visit. She has no bedside manner and was judgey. Tried to call billing to straighten out, but they're not willing to work with you. Do not recommend.

Communication became very difficult, and it took over a month from my initial visit for my FMLA paperwork to be completed correctly. The paperwork was not finalized until after I had already returned to work (over four weeks later), which caused delays in my compensation. During my leave, I expressed my concerns to the practice by calling and leaving multiple messages through the Atrium portal, but getting any response during this time was extremely challenging. As I continued to reach out to understand why the process was taking so long--along with sharing feedback I had been given by FMLA--my direct tone and the fact that I did not address Jason as "Dr." (due to limited character space in the portal) were not well received. I attempted to clarify any miscommunication and reset the tone through additional portal messages. Despite my efforts, Dr. Fishel replied that our communication styles were "simply incompatible." Not only was he unwilling to see me at our next scheduled appointment, but he also discharged me from the practice. I sought help from Dr. Fishel because of the tremendous amount of tension and anxiety in my life. Unfortunately, his responses and actions (or lack thereof) only amplified my stress. While it is a provider's discretion to end care, this experience highlighted concerns around responsiveness, communication, professionalism, and sensitivity to tone and formality. Although the initial session was positive, the out‑of‑office follow‑up process did not meet my expectations for support or timely care during a stressful period.

I messaged her twice through the patient app over the next two days with no response from her. Eventually, her nurse replied and told me Jennifer wanted me to book another appointment just to get antibiotics--despite my condition not improving at all. I then called the office and asked to speak with her directly. The front desk rep said she would have Jennifer call me back. That call never came. I followed up again the next morning (Friday), left another message, and the rep told me Jennifer had noted to set up another appointment. I explained I had already asked for a call back the day before, and again I was told she might call me that day. She never did. This entire experience was incredibly frustrating and showed a complete lack of care or urgency. It felt like Jennifer Sheldon was more interested in billing for a second visit than actually treating her patient properly the first time. I've never had such poor follow-through and indifference from a medical professional. I do not recommend seeing her.

Anyhow, we have seen the SAME primary physician which I will remain nameless.. It isn't that he's no good .. Could be.. but they way I felt 1000% UNHEARD /didn't give two craps over my physical exam .. Mind you this is a well check visit .. funny thing .. my husband is sticking by him. Maybe he likes men. Prefers men patients . Who in the bloody hell knows. All I know..is I too feel the communication in this particular office is wayyy , by far, far from being even 50% good. They SUCK!!!!!! When you're sick you shouldn't need to have to be seen 3 times in less than 11 days for the same symptoms.. when I clearly knew I needed a new antibiotic for my bronchitis and a steroid shot. They just are all in it for the $$$$$. Run!! Run!!! Do not come here . I'm trying to become not lazy and actually have a true want to fill out 20 forms to transfer all of my medical history to another physician. They suck. FWIW.. I have tried another Dr. She SUCkED!! Anne something have no clue her last name (blonde) she is awful. Zero bedside manor. If you don't need any type of personality or feel of compassion than you would love her. Other Wise she seems 5 steps out of med school, know it all who is quite rude and condescending IMHO. I've also seen 3 different PA's there. Probably would only consider ONE of the 3... if I have no choice but to go back there. Awful practice! Awful

This is regarding Atrium Primary Care on Copper Way in Ballantyne. Yelp immediately brought me to…read moreMMG (who Atrium is a sister company of if not outright owner), so I'll leave my review here, specifically about HIGHLY OVERRATED Jennifer Sheldon, PA. This is what I've already sent to Atrium Corporate: Husband & I waited over an hour after arriving early for my 3pm new patient appt. w/PA Jennifer Sheldon. Receptionist was warm & friendly & we enjoyed speaking to her & other patients despite waiting a ridiculous amount of time considering the chart had a "green light" for today stating "running on time". An Indian woman came in at 3:20pm for a 3:20 appt. and was called back before us (not receptionist's fault, it was the "back" that stuck their head out and called for that woman). Asked receptionist why the back would call a patient with a later appointment in ahead of us. She wondered too & went into the back but had nothing to tell us as there were other patients entering & waiting for her. I didn't get called back until 4pm or later. Very nice tech took my vitals, all were good. Then the supposedly "WONDERFUL" Jennifer came in with pre-conceived notions and was nothing like the "5 star" PA/MD (some referred to her as) we'd read about. My paperwork made it clear that I am an insomniac who needs Ambien to help with sleep & that Xanax has helped me in the past with panic/anxiety (3 deaths in immediate family & spouse with heart condition which required a triple bypass last spring). Jennifer was rushed, condescending & blunt! She didn't ask one question other than had I seen a psychiatrist or a sleep disorder MD. Told her "no and didn't plan to & with reason. Jennifer then pointed to a Surescripts printout & said I had Ambien filled as well as Triazolam on 12/12/2023. SO WHAT? I made it clear I was there to establish new patient relationship and that I'd need Ambien & something for anxiety in future. She seemed to imply I was a drug addict and despite hearing about my husband's heart condition showed no concern for either of us, said she'd never prescribe any "controlled substance" (incl. Ambien) so we left. Would love to know who's giving her those fake 5 star reviews!!!!!". FYI, I do believe that complaint I sent to Atrium Corporate regarding PA, Jennifer Sheldon, was KIND to say the least! She's totally a cold hearted, snotty, uncaring "B" who only deserves minus reviews. How did she get 240-plus "five star reviews" on Google/Atrium after being at that small practice less than a year? Sounds like Daddy, Mommy or "Uncle Buck" pushed for them or wrote them personally (maybe she or her dog did -- don't know how she could have a husband who'd stay with her for anything other than family money). BTW, MY husband sat in on that miserable meeting & was so livid I feared he'd drive off the road as he angrily went on about her on the way home. Jennifer Sheldon is the WORST person I have ever met in the medical world, STEER CLEAR!!!!!
