Bruno's Proseccheria con Restaurante - Pasta

It was a Tuesday afternoon but the restaurant was quite busy and it seemed that they were understaffed as the kind lady who took our orders was also tending to the entire restaurant at the same time. Maybe it was because we were starving from the walking we previously endured but the food took upwards to 50 minutes to come out (which felt like quite a long time). However, I have no complaints beyond that because the dishes were worth all the while! The ingredients were very fresh, pastas perfectly cooked and seasoned. We ordered the Rigatoni Alla Bartinli, Ravioli Porcini, and the Tagliatelle Al Pesto off of the lunch menu. If I were to rank the three, the top dish was the Ravioli Porcini, as it was paired with very tasty mushrooms and bacon within a flavorful cream sauce. The Rigatoni had great texture and was a close second as it was overall just very delicious. The Pesto Tagliatelle was also very tasty as well but the ravioli was the all around winner. All of the pasta was definitely freshly handmade. The restaurant featured modern, minimalistic decorations. From the exterior, there is a slight contrast from the Christiania Town-look to an adapted modern look of the restaurant. It was refreshing to see such a modern place near the older architecture surrounding it. From inside, the restaurant features a bar and a few other tables of seating area. It gives off "upscale-relaxed" vibes. Since it was raining that day, it was nice that they had a coat rack and area to put wet umbrellas near the door. It made the restaurant feel more like home. The pastas were quite filling and were perfectly portioned. Each pasta did come out to be close to 300 Norwegian Kroner (~$29 USD), but whatever the cost, it satisfied our bellies and we were happy campers! My overall rating would be a 4.1, rounded to 4/5. The meal was great but it did take a little while to come out. With all that being said, I would come back if we had the chance to explore Oslo a different time!

Especially the lamps in the roof have the place a plus touch! The food was served by an attentive person and the time from order was short. I ordered something light, while the rest of the party went for hot and cold courses. The food was great and can easily recommend checking it out when downtown Oslo. Just make sure you use Uber or taxi, because parking is impossible...

Its a pretty difficult sell for a rooftop bar to a New Yorker, but then every rooftop also tells a story! And what a wonderful story it was! Nestled on the Eight floor of Grand Hotel, is this really well decorated rooftop bar with an amazing menu. A pretty fancy menu explains the different flavor profiles to order from along with ABV's - something we never saw on a cocktail menu! Docking one star only because they couldn't make the cocktail that I really wanted - a Rum Old Fashioned. Tried The Etoile (Penicillin) instead, which was very nice too and so was the counting sheep (Whiskey Sour). The views on a rainy/overcast day were pretty good too and we could only imagine how spectacular summer days in Oslo could be from this rooftop! Service was good, noise levels on the lower end. The Frosta Chips were tasty!

The service is impeccable with a staff who is very knowledgeable about the intricacies of the menu and super in tune with patrons. This bar has a very cool way of crafting drinks as an ode to the relationship between Norway and the United States. It's a beautiful science of all of the senses. We had every specialty drink on the menu (except the one with the gold coin). Some places have a hard time executing on really great drinks, service, AND ambiance... this place does it all with excellence. The drinks are high quality, intentional, and amazing. The food (we had the sliders) also caught us off guard with how good it was. From our seats at the bar, George was an incredible bartender! We're so excited to see how the menu continues to transform with the seasons, offering new and exciting cocktails. We will absolutely be back and recommend Pier 42 to anyone we can!
