She did a very thorough exam and put together a clear care plan to address a few things I've been putting off. A few helpful details: the office has three chairs, accepts insurance, and is in-network for Montgomery County Public Schools employees (CIGNA plan users, this is a win!). Don't be fooled by the exterior of the building--when you walk up, it may not have the "fancy" look, but the service inside is absolutely top-notch. Very disappointed with the billing and front desk service at Advance Family Dental care…read more My family has been going here since 2018 and unfortunately our recent experience was very frustrating. I was given incorrect information about my insurance coverage and was asked to make a payment that I was later told should not have been required. I was also promised a refund but despite following up multiple times I still have not received it. It's been a month now. What was most disappointing was the lack of communication and the way I was treated when I called to follow up. The front desk staff were rude and very unprofessional, which made an already frustrating situation even worse. Billing mistakes can happen but I expected better communication, follow through and better behavior from a practice my family has trusted for many years.

While I do not question the professionalism of the dentists who provided me with dental care over the years, I find myself more at ease with the administrative staff, hygienists, especially Susan, and the skilled dentists who provided me with excellent general dentistry and orthodontics services. My latest visits that included oral surgery, root canal and a crown were performed by Dr. Yasmin Akhlaghi, who is apparently new to the center, as her name is not yet included in the team on the Center's website. While relatively young, she impressed me with her knowledge, proficiency and exceptional hand skills. Combining this with a pleasant and very friendly personality, greatly enhanced my comfort during delicate and lengthy procedures. I trust Dr. Akhlaghi and cannot recommend her enough! George J.

She doesn't communicate at all what she is planning to do. I have a back injury. She came and started lower the back of the filthy exam chair I was sitting on. The room is like it was last cleaned 2 years ago. The floor is ewkkkkk! Can't believe this is in America and in Montgomery County. Then I have to get that she is the one who will be cleaning my teeth. I open my mouth and she was exactly in there for 6 minutes. Then she moved away. I guessed that she was done. I dare to ask if it was it, she respond you need more time and it will cost an additional $140. I dared to question her and she turned her back and started writing notes on my medical records and I just had to leave... The young hygienist, Ghosh! The poor thing tried to get my X-rays and she struggled with that for 15-20 minutes. My mouth is still sore 3 days after. I have been use with top notch customer service, if you know for example Dr. P Tong's office in Rockville, Md. This dental office in Gaithersburg is the complete opposite of Dr. Tong's office that I used to go. My son, really has bad teeth and I was hoping when I made this appointment that the Dentist would really be helpful. He has an extra tooth that needs to come out before we see the Orthondontist. The boy got his 6 minutes of cleaning, and he was shown the door. Same thing with my daughter. I was told that I need extra time because I have more plaque. Hey look! I brush my teeth BID and floss each day. We got Xrays, no body told us if we had cavities or not. They do that only for the purpose of billing your insurance. Same thing for the cleaning, even water to rinse your mouth is rationed. No patient education or whatsoever. If you can't get a hello, is education that I would be getting? What is happening in this office is what is wrong with America. Some healthcare providers establish their office in poor neighborhoods and deliver sub-par care to poor Hispanic and black people in the neighborhood. If you happen to be black, you will get the same treatment even though you are coming from affluent neighborhood like I do. Why because, they are just so use to not so demanding patients and they have always walked away with that. I am a healthcare worker myself, and I have to say this is just not alright. 1. If the staff at this office do not want to be at work, they should stay home. 2. Healthcare delivery should be the same no matter where you are located, or where the patient is coming from. 3. Insurance company should start disclosing providers performance on their website so that members know what to expect. This is my second time writing a Yelp review, I am so sorry that it is bad one.
